Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrived with the family for dinner. Unfortunately my online reservation hadn't been received so we were seated in the side section to the main restaurant as we were told the main restaurant was booked out. Starters arrived pretty quickly but we then had over a...30min wait for mains (it looked as though there was also a private event taking place which i'm assuming took precedent). The section we were sat in was really cold and when I finally managed to get a waitresses attention to make her aware of the delay with our meal and the cold/draughty area we were sat in, the mains came out but she never came back to discuss the complaint. Starters, Duck Pancakes were lovely but the pate was very dry & didn't come with any butter or chutney. The pie was good but we specifically asked if the meat was shredded or lumps & was told shredded when it was in fact lumps. I asked for another glass of wine the same as I had but received the wrong size. So overall, it was quite a disappointing experience, especially when the prices are on par to a London pub restaurant. As we left, we saw a couple of tables in the main section with the fire that were still empty from when we arrived.More

Excellent food, which arrived quickly, and reasonably priced for this quality. I was looked after by Nicola and her colleagues, who were attentive without being intrusive. A very pleasant evening - thank you.

We have been to The Granville three times now with different friends or on our own over a period time but will not be returning. The food is not up to expectation’s . It either doesn’t taste of anything or is cold and has a...very slow service and I mean slow. The staff are friendly and welcoming and it’s a shame it goes down from there. This is a local to us which is annoying that we are going to now have to travel further a field.More

This is our all time favourite place to eat, it’s in the country yet close to Canterbury, the ambience is always welcoming, Plenty of free parking. Staff are attentive and polite. The food is ALWAYS amazing, thanks to Chef Luke and his colleagues, yesterday two...of us visited for lunch, we chose Chicken, leek and mushroom pie, with red cabbage, and champ mash, and Roasted root vegetable casserole, caramelised shallots, baby potatoes topped with blue cheese scones, followed by Spiced orange bread & butter pudding, whisky & marmalade sauce, stem ginger ice cream. and Coffee cheesecake, walnut praline, biscoff ice cream. All absolutely delicious, cooked and prepared to perfection, all very tasty with flavours zinging around your palette. We have been many times with various friends and family everyone agrees that it is always consistently good. Always our first choice. Unbeatable in our book. It gets busy so best to pre book. Go and experience excellent food in lovely surroundings, there is also a garden area for warmer summer days. Perfect !More

Went for Steak night 2-4-1. My girlfriend and I loved it and will be returning soon. Food cooked perfectly and atmosphere good, would have been nice if the fire was on though.

A party of four of us plus labrador had a fantastic Sunday roast. Our dining experience was perfect from beginning to end. We all had the roast beef which was cooked to perfection. Not too rare or well done but absolutely delicious. The staff gave...us a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We were having such a great time that we didn't realise we were the only party left enjoying such a fantastic atmosphere . The deserts were amazing too. I just wish we had taken photos to champion such a lovely meal. Thank you The Granville we will be back very soon.More

The Granville is fairly local to us and is the nearest pub that does food. We managed to get a 30% off food deal from their website after signing up for November only. When we arrived we had drinks and were shown to the table,...fortunately in the corner as we took our dog. We all ordered Roast beef which was delivered to the table in good time , the staff were attentive and friendly. We had a large portion of perfectly cooked beef, a home made yorky, three roasties, carrot puree, kale and parsnips. All in all, a large Sunday feast! The crumble and custard for dessert was excellent leaving us full to bursting! I would also add I had a pint of Sheps Masterbrew, probaly the best pint in a long time! Very good value for money in todays eating out climate, we would recommend the Granville every time, good disabled access and parking with plenty of room between the tables to stretch out. The background music was just at the right volume giving our party the ability to chat without stress. As I went to review the Granville I noticed several poor reviews, I cant imagine they could be so wrong, their systems seemed so practised and smooth so we must conclude that someone has got it in for the establishment and their friends are putting poor reviews on tripadviser which we have heard about before... Please go, you will not be disssapointed!More

This is one of our favourite places to go. I have been there in small and large groups. The Sunday lunch we had was excellent and as good if not better than other places we have been. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had...a dog with us and a member of our party had a zimmer frame to help them walk. The staff helped ensure we had a table we could access easily and the dog was comfortable. I am amazed to read some of the other reviews and wondered if they had got the wrong Granville as we did not recognise their comments. I would recommend you go especially for the Sunday Lunch. A lovely and welcoming pub.More

We are regular visitors to The Granville and last Friday was as usual a very pleasant experience. Tim was very friendly and went that extra mile and our meal of beef cheek and for myself a cheese burger with onion rings was lovely. We will...continue to visit as we know that the service, food and ambiance will always be excellent.More

We have eaten at The Granville on a few occasions no and all has been fairly good. My husband and myself stopped by for dinner a week ago and have to say we will not be returning. We waited nearly half an hour for two...drinks and our food followed after another half an hour. Burger and steak were tasty but the service from staff was very disappointing. Staff were disinterested and it felt as if it was a chore to take our order and serve the food. We gave up on ordering dessert.More

After eating in The Granville for many years I am saddened to write this review. Visiting this week with family I left very disappointed. The food was terrible. It came out cold, poorly presented and of very small portions. We questioned if the spring rolls...were from Iceland and if my main adult meal was a child’s meal. My husband complained about his food and was met with a rather rude waitress. The staff didn’t know what the soup of the day was, which burger was which and they did not replace cutlery from starters. It’s needless to say we will not be returning. I do hope this is a change of ownership and that the other establishments connected to The Granville are not going to go down hill too.More

This is the second time recently I’ve visited this pub which offers a tempting menu of varied food choices. However, for the second time the food was luke warm and served on cold plates. I chose beef cheek followed by what sounded like a delicious...coffee cheesecake. Whilst the quality of the main course was great, it was cold. The food was then reheated but still had cold spots. By this time I was so hungry, I ate it anyway. The dessert course was apparently sugar free apart from the ice cream and garnishes. Service was very slow with too few staff on the floor and I wouldn’t choose to visit this pub restaurant again.More

Having eaten at this restaurant many times over the years I was shocked how poorly run it has become, waiting at bar 15 minutes on arrival to be served a drink and then sitting down for a meal which was of a very poor standard....Starters were a joke, tasteless and poorly presented they looked like they had just been heated up and thrown on the plate, the main was a mess, meat and vegetables all mixed in with mash potato rendering it completely inedible and some other dishes were served either cold or with hard burger buns. The desert didn’t fair any better, how you get an apple crumble so wrong beggars belief. Felt very sorry for staff who tried their best but with so many unhappy with the food you could see they were embarrassed. I can only imagine there has been a change of management for such a dramatic drop in standards.More

We came here on Monday 13 November 2023 and were extremely disappointed there was twelve of us to eat. We had to complain the food was not worth the money. The service was poor and we will not be returning any time soon which is...a shame as this was one of our favourite places to eat. We were their to celebrate our Grandson’s Birthday so it was a big letdown 😢More

We come here as a couple, with family and friends. I always recommend to others for the excellent food and service. We used to come for the steak nights too! Always easy to park. Easy to book online for a table for future dates. Love...the snacks introduced in case a starter is a little heavy before the main and obviously the superb desserts! The only thing I would say it can be a bit chilly through the winter months especially sitting near a window always quite draughty but I usually go prepared and dress accordingly!More
