Went with a friend for lunch, i had heard a few stories that the food wasnt as good since it changed owners but thought I would give benefit of dout as maybe teething problems..she had the ploughman's sandwich, the bread was hard and stale. I...had the mushrooms on soughdough, the mushrooms were hard and dried out. My friend did say to the waitress she didn't eat it all as the bread was stale, she said sorry about that. Since I got home 2 hours ago I have had a terrible upset stomach. It used to be a great place to eat. Won't be going again and won't be recommending to my friends and family.More

We were staying in the hotel just down the road and we thought it would be lovely to pop in and grab a couple of cocktails and have a catch up with friends for an hour or so. Started off asking for the cocktail menu,...off they went to find one…. There were a few tables to the right as we came in and asked the bar staff if we could sit there….. we were left standing whilst they chatted at the end of the bar, menu arrived and as no one had said anything to us for a good few minutes and we were just standing there, we popped through to where there were 3 or 4 empty tables. Before we could sit down the bar person came over and said we couldn’t go there as they were still checking if the tables were booked.. about five minutes have gone by at this point…. We moved back to the bar, no interaction at all from the staff, we started to feel unwelcome so we said we are moving on, popped the menu down and walked out. Next thing we know is a male member of staff comes out the door calling down the road saying we have taken the menu!! Not the case, we explained we wouldn’t do that and carried on… no apology from him at all, either for the shocking service or the accusation that he had made towards us. Appalling service here, not welcoming and missed out on some easy money…. We were going to go there in the Sunday as it looked lovely but went elsewhere due to the poor service.More

My partner and I just got back and not impressed is an understatement. We both had the beef Sunday roast, could not be simpler, the thing that impressed me most was the beef, how they sliced two small slices of beef that thin to be...able to call it a portion is beyond me! Three small roast spuds cold and a parsnip all cold in the middle was served with a cold Yorkshire pudding, a few minutes later followed with the smallest portion of veg to share i have ever seen. 7 green beans, a soup spoon of orange mash and a soup spoon of red cabbage and apple. The veg was warm as it had been in the microwave, and all for the small sum of £18 !! Check the picture out, I had more beef in the picture because my partner wanted to equal what was plated. A very underwhelming, expensive meal. I would give it no stars if it were an option. The pub, staff, ambience of the pub is nice and welcoming , and view from the garden is picturesque on the plus, but if I was honest I would rather eat in the toby carvery ( which I detest) than eat here!.More

We visited this restaurant for a roast dinner. ( weekend break) We come from Suffolk. 3 of us was ill from eating the Beef roast dinners The beef was very chewy undercooked & looked horrible. Not very appetising at all. You'd expect to get lovely...cooked tender lean cuts of good quality meat. Not from this place. Quite shocking they serve that up for us. Had lovely cuts of beef over the years in many places to eat. The Vegetables in the serving bowls to share was pretty awful too & small portions. Meal wasn't hot. 1 parsnip & 3 roast potatoes on a adult meal plate. I couldn't eat it I shared a bit of my left over beef to my dog & she was sick. Wish I hadn't given it to her. Will we be visiting again? That's a big No!! Hope this doesn't happen in future for other customers who visit. Head office has given me a voucher in total for the 3 roast dinners. Not a refund. Will we use the vouchers in their other restaurants? I highly doubt it Its put me right off.More

Service was polite enough, had a couple of club sandwiches which were okay. Chicken looked a little pink for my liking. Chips were pretty good. Liked that the sauce bottles were labelled to monitor their date of use. Toilets were fine. My daughter had the...burger and fries and when I tried a bit at the end of our meal I could see why she’d only taken one bite. It was literally like a biscuit. I can only imagine it had dried out a lot before it was then over cooked. I was quite upset for her, it really peeves me that less love is given to children’s meals. Couldn’t be bothered to go through the awkwardness of complaining or being offered a replacement when we’d otherwise finished. Don’t think I’d go back or really recommend.More

45 minute wait for very indifferent food. We ordered and waited and waited. Lots of food was served, but none of it ours. There was a lull about 30 mins in, when no food was coming out. It was starting to get dark outside and...our dog wad fussing, so I went inside to ask. A lady, I presume the manager, told is there was a 45 min wait for food and we should have been told that. We had not, as we would have just had a drink. After about 50 minutes the food was served and the same woman came out to insist we would have been told. Eventually she agreed with my husband thar she has served us and had not mentioned a 45 min wait. The mussels and chips consisted of about 15 mussels, some empty and some closed, for about £17. The pie seemed shop bought and mash and greens like school dinners. The lady offered to bring some ham for our fussing dog, but this never materialised. We ate quickly in the growing darkness and left, shocked and disappointed by the slow service, poor food and high prices. Never again.More

Only l choice of a Vegetarian dish on a 2 page menu. A Tofu unimaginative dish. We had booked the table ahead after a family funeral as l have been going there ( but not in the last year or so) for 15 years and...the vegetarian choices were always lovely and varied before. Despite the helpful but hands tied catering team and staff they could not offer me anything but cauliflower and salad as an alternative or a soya burger. I can buy that in Tesco. We left. Went next door to the Earl Grey- the menu was a huge variety of Vegetarian, gluten free and lovely meat and fish choices. I had a delicious meal of roasted peppers and veg, couscous, salad and the best chips in Kent. We spent 100 pounds for the meal and all the drinks and coffees for 4. Totally worth it.More

I booked The Belle Vue for 6 people a few weeks in advance, our friends where coming down from Bristol, and wanted to take our parents somewhere nice and thought this would be a great opportunity to try out this place. We live near Dover...(20 miles away) the table was booked for 6pm so we went to Ramsgate first for a wander around the harbour. Someone then rang me at 4:30pm to tell me they’d ran out of all roast dinners, pork belly and mussels. I asked what else they had on the menu they told me they had everything else, we were already disappointed they had ran out of roasts as that’s what most of us wanted.. if they knew they were running out they could have at least had the courtesy to perhaps call us and said “we’re running out of roasts, you’ve got a reservation with us could we reserve a roast for any of you?” Considering we booked weeks in advance. We decided to go anyway, which was a mistake.. when we arrived we where seated then told there where even more things they’d ran out of the menu!! We decided to leave being little to no choice left at all. Being 6pm on a Sunday this then left us phoning around trying to find somewhere else to seat us. Eventually we went to The Bell Hotel in Sandwich who were extremely welcoming and catered for all 6 off us, with great food. Extremely disappointed with The Belle Vue very poorly organised.More

Very disappointed with my lunch, ordered ham, egg and chips, which is probably one of the easiest things on the menu, as you just have to put the ham on a plate, deep fry the chips, but somehow the chef couldn't even cook 2 runny...fried eggs properly. They were like bullets, you could literally stand your fork up in them. I'd normally complain, but it's a pain when other people are eating their meal, then they finish when your new meal turns up. Come on chef, cook some nice runny eggs in future.More

Oddly, we chose this pub when my niece visited from overseas some years ago, this time it was with her mum on a visit from NZ. First thing to say is that the pub certainly lives up to its name. Uninterrupted views across Pegwell bay...with Sandwich and Deal in the distance. We arrived as the tide turned and when we left it had rushed in, scattering the gulls and waders. I had a tasty bitter. shandy, Maggie her usual coke and my sister chose a coffee. As the wind was still strong and from the north we chose a table on the terrace but tucked back to avoid the wind. The service was fast and the waiter a skilled lass who cleared all our dishes in one go with aplomb. I had a vegetarian option; a 'burger' consisting of halloumi fingers, portobello mushroom and smoked red pepper in a brioche bun with all the trimmings (although I declined the coleslaw). It came with a very large bowl of chunky chips and both were delicious. Jean had the 'pie of the day' which was beef and ale accompanied by mash and veg; Maggie went for a starter of chicken strips with salad and a side of chips which proved too much and I had to, reluctantly, polish them off. Nothing madly out of the ordinary here, but all well cooked, well presented and showing a bit of imagination too. Best vegetarian burger I've had in ages... so much better than just replacing the meat with mock meat. I will certainly be back.More

A get together with friends and family, the food for everyone else was bang on. BUT If you are gonna charge £7,50 for a scotch egg, at least make it a chicken egg, quail eggs for that kind of money is a joke and it...was tasteless, I love this place, but on this occasion the sooooooo called scotch egg was a huge disappointment. I can get bigger and better from Aldi, £2.50. As i said, luv this place but not sure its as good as it used to be, defiantly more expensive , without the quality, very sad, very disappointed .More

Booked for a family meal to celebrate a birthday. There were 8 of us plus a 1 year old. We were seated upstairs and the room was lovely with a fab view around the coast towards Deal. Tilly our waitress was brilliant! Friendly and attentive...and nothing seemed too much trouble. Food was delicious and plentiful. There were Gluten free options. The only thing I would say (which is sadly common in most places) is the gluten free options are fairly limited compared to the whole menu. The overall evening was great and we will definitely be returning.More

Very friendly welcome, good service and amazing views from the tables in the garden. The menu was interesting but sadly the quality of cooking didn’t match the prices. I felt that the building and garden would benefit from renovation to make the most of its...fabulous setting. I would go again but opt for a sandwich next time!More

We had a good Sunday roast here, decent service and a lovely atmosphere. Great views along the coast towards Deal. There was a limited choice on the Sunday roast sadly, Chicken , Beef or a vegetarian option! Diners before us all asked for extra gravy..., so we asked for it as the plate arrived . It was required , very little appeared with the Fayre. The pub is well set out and the decking area is terrific, better in good weather!More
