Excellent value for money staff amazing. Along with great service I could not fault it. The only thing was the platters. I ordered the chilli platter and it was massive enough for two to three people I left most of it and was told I could have ordered half a platter! This needs to be on the menu!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We really appreciate your lovely comments, I have passed them onto the team. The platters are on the menu with the view to either share or have to yourself if you are hungry- we will look at making it a bit clearer of their size on the menu! But we are more than happy to do a half size one if asked. Hope to see you again soon, Kind regards, Team Edgcumbe.

Having booked well in advance we had the nervous among us taking their first trip out since March. The staff clearly explained their one way system, all diners are outside under the new gazebo and all the staff wore face masks or visors. Our lunch was a pleasure from beginning to end. All the waiting staff were friendly, professional and attentive, with a good dose of humour thrown in, every one went to extra lengths to make our lunch a great experience. The food and wine were all great and the menu is less restricted that some more recently opened restaurants. I have no hesitation in recommending.

Honestly one of the best meals and boutique B&B stays we've ever had, set in a gorgeous location really close to the Pantiles and main town but surrounded by woodland walks. The best of both for a weekend away in Kent! The big stuff - beautiful, historic, characterful, clean and welcoming from the minute we parked up, checked in and sat for early evening drinks. Amazing beds, powerful shower and all mod cons with attentive and friendly staff. The little stuff - very clever uniquely different decor with superb British made toiletries, including our own mint hand sanitiser that is a welcome difference from the generic alcohol rub most places are using. The food was simply excellent, with local produce where possible and great choices. We had the asparagus starter, with swordfish and could have eaten all the desserts! Great wine menu and staff know the menu really well so trust them for recommendations! Breakfast was also amazing, simply good quality and cooked well - especially the scrambled egg with parsley. Our friends recommended this place as they're local and it certainly didn't disappoint. We will absolutely be back soon (if we can get booked in to this rare jewel in the Royal Tunbridge Wells crown)!

Check your bill. We had 3 drinks each and a side of stuffed peppers costing about £4.00. They tried to charge a service charge based on the whole bill (approx £6.00). This is a rip off as we could not order from the bar. No mention of this was made either when we arrived or when we were given the bill. Other bars in the area don't do this.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. I am sorry you felt as though your experience was negative, we do not wish any of our customers to feel this way. We do understand that it is not the customers choice to receive table service, however this is the current situation we are in. We are primarily a restaurant, and therefore we do have a discretionary service charge added to every bill, as the majority of other restaurants also do. This is completely at your discretion, if you wish to not pay it that is no trouble at all we will take it off the bill. Equally if a customer wishes to pay more or less then we will happily do this also. I'm afraid we won't mention it when you arrive as we feel that is not the best welcome to start discussing the bill on arrival. It is however written clearly on all of the menus and on the drinks and wine lists, as well as on the bottom of your bill. I am sorry once again that you felt you had a bad experience, we hope to see you another time and can make up for this. I hope that your review will not put other potential customers off visiting us. Take care, best wishes, Team Edgcumbe

We had a lovely night away break here last weekend. We live not far away but this was an ideal hotel right in the centre of TW that I didn’t even know about, before we went, as it is so well hidden in the Parkland. As a result it feels like you are in the countryside rather than a town. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and happy. The room was very nicely decorated and presented and we especially appreciated the air con on a very hot night. Unfortunately we were not able to book an evening meal as it was a Sunday and only nibbles and sharing plates are available after 5pm on Sundays. However, the hotel is perfectly located for easy access to the copious alternative bars and eateries in the Pantiles and rest of TW so this wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was generous and very tasty and cooked to order, though it did take a long time to be served - which helped build our hunger even more that was probably just as well! Overall this is a great hotel and will recommend to friends and family and will definitely return if we get the chance again in the future - thank you.

We had a lovely lunch in the marquee. This was the first meal out for our mother who is 87. We all had delicious food and the service was excellent. We were celebrating Mother’s Day late due to lockdown and we given complimentary ice cream and coffee. The hygiene and safety measures are exemplary and the friendly service makes the eating out experience extremely enjoyable. Five stars from us and thanks

I came on tonight to congratulate the Mount Edgecumbe for another wonderful evening but happened on a review that was written before me. complaining about them flouting the rules that apply to Covid restrictions. The complaint being that there was insufficient air in the Conservatory. which is total rubbish and does not warrant a 1 rating. The total area must be 20 metres x 15 metres and possibly 5 metres high. It is not sealed and you can feel regular draft an wind coming in at all angles throughout the conservatory. I have been to quite a number of venues around the town and none compete on the strict rules that apply to the government guidelines as in the Edgecumbe. The staff are always informative and pleasant to all customers that visit, I would honestly say this level of professionalism and care to their customers is second to none and if the lady would care to read my review? Do you really think your review required such a low rating that damages all the good will this pub restaurant aspires to achieve? Seamus Hackett Customer

Well done to all of the Team at The Mount Edgcumbe in Royal Tunbridge Wells! Un these uncertain times you can be sure you will feel safe and very comfortable when dining at The Mount Edgcumbe. The level of service is outstanding and the senior Management certainly lead from the front. The food is as good as ever with an excellent choice of wines and draft beers. I couldn’t recommend a better place to go in RTW!

What an excellent venue, restaurant and staff. I messaged the Mount Edgcombe to arrange a birthday dinner for 12 and was offered a private room on the Saturday night. The room was fantastic, comfy sofas with a log fire for pre meal drinks, dedicated waiting service all evening, and when we were ready a beautifully set table for our meal in an adjoining room. The food was ordered 48 hours in advance, 3 courses for 12 people, and was served expertly with a minimum of fuss, the food was wonderful without exception and the whole evening was made a special occasion by a really professional team and a lovely setting.

My wife and I stayed in room 2A. The room was lovely. Fantastic attention to detail, very comfortable and cosy with plenty of room. We had booked the room because we were due to be eating at the nearby The Ivy restaurant. However, my wife had been battling a migraine all day. She thought she would be well enough to go to the restaurant. However, we were in a bar next to the restaurant and my wife starting feeling poorly again. I called Mount Edgcumbe and Emma answered. She was simply amazing! She organised a taxi to come and collect us which arrived within minutes. She said she was able to offer us a table for dinner at the hotel or could arrange for dinner to be brought to our hotel if we preferred. We chose to eat in our room. The food was lovely and good value. Emma was fantastic and was genuinely concerned for my wife’s wellbeing as were the rest of the staff. We were touched by the concern shown and the effort made to ensure we were looked after. The night didn’t go as planned but we could not ask for more from the team at the hotel. We will definitely be returning ASAP. I can not recommend this place highly enough! You need to keep hold of Emma! Thank you again for everything! P.S. the cooked breakfast was fantastic

We’ve been here many times, and enjoyed it. Last night was no exception, but with one major qualification which I will come to shortly. The three of us were there for dinner; 2 x fish and chips, 1 x sate half chicken. The sate sauce was thin and lacking in flavour, but the chicken was well cooked. Prior to the food orders we were asked for our drinks order which was a pint of Harvey’s, a large G&T (Chapel Down Pinot Noir), and a glass of Chapel Down Chardonnay (250ml). My wife didn’t look at the wine menu, and just asked for a glass of ‘Chardonnay’, admittedly a large one. When the bill arrived the cost was quite correctly itemised as £13.50. However it was a surprise, because that just isn’t what we/her would expect to pay. I mention this as a ‘watch out’, not because MtE is doing anything wrong, but that casual ordering of drinks just isn’t a good idea. The total price of three mains plus a round of large drinks was just under £90. For a pub dinner for three, even taking into account our misstep that is going some. Buyer beware; this isn’t an MtE only issue, just a big sign of our times.

Went for family dinner last night. The Covid strategy was well organised and the Marquee setting was lovely, spacious and excellent service. Food was of a very good standard, value for money, excellent portion size and would heartily recommend to all. Will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely evening. Well done to all at the Mount Edgcumbe.

Not impressed yesterday, sadly. The lamb roast we were served was tough and gristly and the vegetables barely lukewarm. On the positive side my daughter said she enjoyed her risotto. And the staff were all very nice. I didn't complain because we were celebrating my elderly mother in law's birthday and I didn't want to spoil her day. I notice a previous reviewer wasn't impressed with having to sit with their legs either side of a table leg and I think we must have had the same table in the marquee. The reply to that review wasn't encouraging (the gist was 'nobody else has complained so what's the problem?') . Considering the prices I think that's a pretty poor response - that table would be acceptable in a cafe but not in a restaurant where the roast dinners are £19.

Hello HPTWHPTWHPTW, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review, we really appreciate your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your overall experience here at The Mount Edgcumbe. Our roasts are reasonably priced from £15.25 - £18.95, you will find that we are no more expensive than any other pubs/ restaurants around Tunbridge Wells, I can only apologise that you found this price did not match the standard of your meal on this occasion, if you had mentioned this on the day we would have been more than happy to bring you another dish or a new meal, we pride ourselves on our customers leaving satisfied and I am disappointed that we did not get an opportunity to rectify this for you, although I understand you did not want to make a fuss on your Mother in Laws birthday. With regards to the table that you were seated on, again I am sorry you were not comfortable and if we were made aware of this, we would have done our best to amend the problem. My colleague’s response reflects that this table has seated up to 6 guests and it has never been mentioned before, so we were not aware that this was an issue, you will be pleased to know that we acknowledge the concern, and we will make sure this doesn’t affect anyone in the future. Thank you again for the kind comments about our staff and for the constructive feedback. Best wishes, The Mount Edgcumbe Team

The Hotel and Brasserie are in an old building in the middle of the park, making for a lovely quiet environment. I visited for dinner and ate on the patio, which is now covered by a semi-permanent marquee. The tables are well separated and good social distancing measures are practiced. Each table has its own infra-red lamps, so that even on a cooler evening you shouldn’t be cold. The staff are all friendly, and I must say a thank you to my waitress, Lilly, who couldn’t have been more helpful. The menu has a good choice of food and my choice, vegetable samosas followed by the Thai green curry, were both delicious. There’s also a good choice of drinks, including local beers and gins – some of which I sampled. This is, unsurprisingly, a popular place, so you’ll need book in advance, and not just because of the current Covid-19 restrictions.

A fantastic meal to celebrate a birthday and family Christmas get together. The general ambience and feel of the building is like nowhere else in the area. Charming, warm and inviting and the private area upstairs with the log fire, just wonderful and the perfect setting for such an event. 10 of us enjoyed 3 great courses, everything perfectly cooked, great portion sizes and ultimately fantastic value. Everyone commented on the quality of the food and left very content. The hostess ( I forget her name, I’m so sorry ) was brilliant, attentive, and very professional in managing a slight delay to some of our guests arriving and liaising with the kitchen, etc. A true Gem of the area. Thank you again!
