I was staying at the Premier Inn at Royal Tunbridge Wells and couldn't face one of their mass produced breakfasts. So my daughter and I walked about 3 minutes down the road to the cobbled street that contained Casa Cafe (new name, same owner). We were advised we might have to wait ten minutes to be served as the gentleman was on his own. We were happy to wait.
There is limited seating downstairs but when it's lunchtime/weekends and more staff upstairs is used (equally charming, plus a toilet up there. Step stairs for the elderly though)
The breakfast menu was extensive and looked wonderful. My daughter was thrilled to see smoothies on the list and said hers was amazing. My decaf tea in a tea bag actually tasted like fresh tea, it was clearly very good quality. The food was well worth the wait. We both had a full cooked breakfast and there wasn't a single part of it that I would criticise. From the fresh toasted bread, the plump mushrooms, the plum tomatoes full of flavour to the meat (the bacon and sausage was first class) it was like heaven on my tongue!
After hoovering it up we then had the pleasure of a chat with the lovely Portuguese owner and another couple who were sat at a safe distance. It felt so friendly, as if we were talking to friends which just made the whole breakfast so personal, warm and wonderful.
We departed clutching a couple of Portuguese tarts which were calling our name. These, when eaten in the late afternoon once my stomach could cope, were better than the tarts I ate in Lisbon last year. Go there. Immediately!

Welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Food is fantastic (in particular the hot paninis) and always fresh. Menu has a great range of choices and the staff always go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. Would definitely recommend!

Casa Da Claudia is home to some of the best sandwiches I have EVER tasted! This is complimented by a fantastic selection of breakfast and lunch dishes, all served by Emanuel, the heart of the restaurant. The service and quality of the food here is consistently excellent, with the of staff willing to go the extra mile for each costumer. I strongly recommend everyone experiences the charm of this restaurant and it’s exceptional food!

I think this is the fastest I have ever reviewed somewhere. We went for breakfast this morning. I'll start with the positives, my husband had the full English which he said was ok for the cost. The coffee was fine. The choice of bread is white or brown only, and it wasn't good white bread. I had avocado Eggs Benedict and the 'hollandaise sauce' was salad cream. I nearly wrote that in capital letters, I don't think I have ever been served salad cream before in a cafe, let alone masquerading as something entirely different. The staff were not very friendly; my son asked if he could have a 'normal Eggs Benedict' and the waiter said they could do that. It came with just the poached eggs on toast but no ham, we told the waitress and heard her say 'apparently they asked for.....' Anyway, we scraped the salad cream off and did our best but neither of us finished our food. The cakes looked nice so maybe go for coffee and cake?

After a stressful journey we arrived by taxi at around 1530 at CdC to meet relatives having booked beforehand and spoken to the restaurant about proximity to the station. They knew we were coming, when, how many in the party and had agreed / taken the booking without any comment or qualification.
Despite their website claiming hours of 9-4.30pm, they'd started packing up at 2:30 apparently, demonstrated total indifference to our booking and refused to serve my wife.
If you don't want customers then sell up and go and do something else more productive instead as the experience and service meted out this afternoon were the worst, by far, I've ever had the misfortune to experience anywhere in the world let alone Kent or Tunbridge Wells.
It's not as if we asked to be served at or close to the [website] advertised closing time - there was still an hour or more to go and our friends were grudgingly served 30 or so minutes earlier but then had nowhere to sit either inside or outside.
I strongly resent having to give this a single star as I don't think it merits even that.
Steer well clear to avoid disappointment,

This wonderful cafe tucked away in a little side street is well worth a visit. Fast, friendly service, perfect if your in a hurry but also a welcoming homely atmosphere if you are looking to take your time to enjoy the amazing food on offer. I had a toasted ciabatta generously filled with fresh tasty ingredients and served with a small salad on the side. I haven't been able to match it anywhere else in town. The coffee is really good too. Will definitely be back soon!

Had the eggs Benedict with avocado, lovely golden yolks on the eggs and quality ham. Also had a refreshing blueberry & raspberry smoothie. They also sell Portuguese produce. Cute inside & out.

I have been here many times before with my artist friend, it's our 'tea stop ' but today it became our ' must go for lunch again ' stop.
I had the Claudia Special Ciabatta,my friend the Cheese & Ham Panini, our pot of tea for 2 arrived swiftly, followed not long after by our respective lunches.
Beautifully presented and a fresh side salad and homemade dressing, on our way out we had to compliment the chef.
With my red laser eye.

I've reviewed this little gem before but it deserves a mention again. Once cafe's were allowed to open after Covid Emanuel tentatively opened his doors to welcome people back. Always keen to support the local businesses and having missed the joys of eating out we have landed up being back at the Cafe at least twice a week. The food is fresh and tasty, the cakes are delicious and although the coffee was always good Emanuel now has new coffee machine which makes the coffee the best by far.
Take advantage of the tables outside and enjoy a little break away from the hustle of the high street.

Top notch breakfast! Quality ingredients cooked to order in a cosy and welcoming cafe.
The Classic, comprising scrambled eggs, excellent smoked salmon and ripe avocado with fresh toast, was delicious! Whilst the similarly excellent Full English managed to defeat my wife’ appetite!
Great coffee and tea washed it down beautifully.
The Portuguese proprietor was very friendly and chatty too!

I only discovered Casa Da Claudia a few years ago whilst out in the high street area wandering around trying to decide what to have for lunch one day.
So, popped in to be greeted in an exceptionally friendly manner by their team. I have since been popping back on a regular basis to get some lunch and have never been disappointed with what I have ordered.
Great food, welcoming friendly staff and fantastic value for money - what else could you ask for!
Keep up the great service guys 👍

Delicious food and great owner. We wanted somewhere to sit and eat quietly away from the main roads. It’s nicely tucked away so you’re able to sit outside or inside, we had our dogs with us so chose to sit outside, the sandwiches or paninis are hand made, as are the jacket potatoes. All our meals were delicious, he also has a small range of Portuguese beers available to buy which are very nice. Much better than the big chain cafes round the corner. Plenty of seating upstairs too. Very quirky place.

Wonderful homemade sandwich selection. You know it’s good when locals come for their lunch and are known by name. We had crayfish and avocado on fresh granary bread. Great coffee and fabulous homemade cake. Really friendly people and worth the trip round Tunbridge Wells to find it. Please open in Norwich and we would highly recommend it every day.

The Podiatry Clinic would like to thank Emanuel for such a wonderful Christmas work event that he hosted during one of his Spanish Tapas evenings. The food was incredible and the service was as always exceptional. We had an amazing evening Thanks to Emanuel and his staff! Couldn’t recommend it more.
