Situated in the heart of the Lake District, the Doi Intanon is Ambleside's premier Thai Restaurant. Since 2000 we have strived to achieve the finest in Thai Cuisine both locally and further afield. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Had a meal for two with my wife & young baby. The staff were great and really accommodating with the fact we had a pram even though it was early evening service. The food was really good - the mains were amazing, starters and puddings...also good. Would definitely eat here again!More
Despite a lovely atmosphere, location and staff, sadly I think this restaurant is overpriced for what is served.
I spent some time searching for chicken in the soup, and duck in the green curry main course but was majorly disappointed.
Next time I will be...trying Jintana and hope I will not be so limited to vegetable content.More
We really enjoyed our meal here tonight! Excellent service from friendly staff; great decor; but best of all the food was wonderful. Fresh and tasty, nice an spicy main courses. Drunken Duck was delicious. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Probably the best Thai meal we've...had in ages - and Thai is one of my favourites. We're leaving here tomorrow otherwise we'd probably go back again for more!!More
Visited here for first time. Was one of the best Thai meals we have had. Quality of food was outstanding (Seabass in green Thai curry & Lamb Ped in Red curry with egg fried rice). Staff were really friendly and delivered a perfect all round...service. Highly recommended and we will return.
Top tip - make sure and book before you go as very popular Ambleside restaurant.More
We’d eaten here before and were keen to visit again.
Starters of chicken satay snd spring rolls were slightly disappointing and I was worried that it might just not bf as good as we’d remembered, but our main courses were delicious and definitely lived up...to our memories.
Definitely recommend the drunken duck!More
Overall we really enjoyed our visit here - glad we booked weeks ahead as the restaurant was fully booked on the evening and no walk-ins were being accepted.
We had starter, main, and dessert - it generally was really nice with the exception of chicken...satay which were cold inside, as were some of the spring rolls.
Mains were excellent - however.
We don’t usually have desserts in Thai restaurants but here they sold local Lakes ice cream which was delicious.
We should have raised the issue of the cold starters with the staff, but this was a minor point considering the nice evening we had.
The staff were lovely and very attentive despite the restaurant being full on a busy Saturday night.
Would visit again.More
Very authentic and top quality food and drink. Menu is varied. Only thing we did notice was the price hike since we visited last year but I guess this is in line with most restaurants and bars.
The other thing to look out for is...the 10% Service Charge added to the bill automatically. This seems to be a growing trend in Ambleside these daysMore
This restaurant sits in a quirky building, and the owners have made use of it well to make it feel like a Thai paradise in the middle of the Lake District. Most importantly of course, the food was excellent and the staff very friendly.
