4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed today NEW

We did decide to call into the wateredge on our way home from a stay in Windermere. Unfortunately on our previous visit we were not impressed. I am happy to say that things have improved. We did have a pleasant enjoyable afternoon sitting beside the open coal fire. The menu is a little better than our last visit, but there... More

Lovely location looking out to Windermere. Phoned in advance to ask about reserving a table and spoke to a very helpful staff member but unfortunately the staff who served us today were far from accommodating and in need of customer service training, without exception. Do not feel able to recommend as a place to eat.

We enjoyed a few beers here whilst admiring the lakeside views. The location of this pub is a key attraction as it overlooks the lake. Inside it offers a modern feel and the staff are welcoming. My only negative comment is it catered for dogs which for me is not acceptable where food is served.

We asked if we could just have a coffee and though their machine was broken, they very quickly brought us a cafetiere. The view down the lake is wonderful, the staff are friendly and helpful and we only wish we had time to eat there, because it all looked really nice.

This is possibly the prettiest place to sit in Ambleside. We sit on the wooden swings by the lake and take in the view. We have visited here a loads of times but have only eaten here once. The food was very poor. We came again last year and the pub had sadly been flooded so things might have changed... More

Had a meal here yesterday evening and was disappointed at the standard of food for the money. My starter was the Fish Chowder which had been bulked out with pieces of potato and very little fish but was quite tasty. For the main meal both my husband and I had the lamb shank which was not very nicely presented, it... More

We were staying nearby for a few days but spent a lot of time here instead. Fantastic real fire fire, dog friendly and spacious area to eat or drink. We enjoyed lunches and evening meals there. The main reason? Warm welcome and superbly efficient and friendly staff.
