Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice busy cafe, good menu, very good sandwiches, soup tasty, possibly leave staff niggles out of the way of customers ears, not very professional, made to feel slightly uncomfortable. Highlight, pots of tea in old style teapots,a very nice touch.

We went for a jam and cream scone with tea/coffee. Tea served in china, coffee in earthenware just as it should be! Really lovely food / drinks and friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

We've been here s few times and enjoyed it a lot. Always gone for a sandwich, which is full to the brim and great value but this time decided to change it up a bit with quiche. Friend of ours had ploughman's that was a...lovely mix and he was full to the brim and I was very jealous with quiche salad lasting about 3 mouthfuls! Quiche was tasteless, few leaves and crisps plus was tiny slice. Most disappointing and my only visit that I've not liked and nipped to tesco's to fill me after. At just short of £50 for 3 adults and a child I'd want to be satisfied. I will certainly visit again and go back to the scrumpy ham sandwiches. FYI the salad was about the same size as ham sandwich side salad.More

Really lovely afternoon tea, friendly rapid service. Proper clotted cream with our scones. This is very much a cafe, lunch menu sandwich style things and jacket potatoes. Large cake / scone / crumpet selection. Definitely worth dropping if you are in Ambleside.

We travel to the Lake District twice a year and our visit would not be complete without a visit to Mr H’s. All the staff are super friendly and always have time for a chat. There is an ample menu and the hardest thing is...choosing which delicious item to pick. I cannot recommend Mr H’s enough, I’m already looking forward to my next visit.More

Vintage tearoom with great ambience. Had lunch here while waiting for daughter to arrive, staff were attentive & nothing was too much trouble. Soup was hot and homemade (vegan & gluten free) with lots of sandwich options. The gluten free bread roll was amazing (not...your generic GF bread but very tasty, fresh and warm) Best GF lunch for ages. (Not sure suitable for coeliac - would need to check with the owner) Very busy with people waiting for seats. Varied menu with lots of choices, most of menu can be made gluten free. GF desserts also available. Staff were lovely to a lady who fell offered her a drink & helped her to sit on the sofa until she felt able to move. Toilets were downstairs and stairs quite steep, very clean. Lots of interesting things for sale too (wax melts, hand soap, vintage advert pages) Overall an amazing find in Ambleside that you should definitely try.More
