Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tucked away at the end of the lane but worth searching for . One Cumberland sausage bap , one bacon bap plus two coffees = two happy customers . We gladly donated to their “ pay forward “ scheme . We paid £5 and the...cafe will provide a hot, tasty meal to a person in need .More

The outside has a lovely homey feel that continued inside. The place was spotless and clean and the decor is delightfully quirky. My friend and I were booked in for the Hot Afternoon Tea, one of which was vegetarian. The food was homemade, delicious and...plentiful. The vegetarian substitutions were tasty and well thought out. It far exceeded expectation. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning.More

We stumbled across this gem of a cafe on a rainy Saturday afternoon when we were in search for a late lunch. We got soups and toasties and then cakes and coffee, all of which were delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff were very...friendly and efficient and they also do a lot to support vulnerable people in the local community by offering a pay forward scheme where you can donate £5 and they will deliver a meal and a hot drink to someone in need. We thought this was a fantastic initiative and donated on our way out. Would highly recommend visiting if you are in cockermouth!More

Had breakfast here, freshly cooked and tasty. Guinuinely friendly staff, with a relaxed vibe. The cafe have a great scheme where you can buy a meal for a vulnerable person for a fiver. If you need a meal but have no money they will help

went in got a table. it was a cold day and we wanted something warm. we both chose off the breakfast menu. A BREAKFAST ROLL AND A FULL ENGLISH. the cooked breakfast looked very nice and my daughter ate it all. i had a sausage...sandwich. the dausage was not very nice. taste like a vegi sausage so i wasn't impressed. i got a huge pot of tea that was very nice. it was also freesing inside they had the door propped open and no heating on. so i sat with my coat on. when we came out we agreed next time we will go to the normal cafe we visit ,we will get quality and fast service.More

Please be assured that our sausage is NOT vegetarian, and is actually sourced from a popular butchers in town. It is an award winning Cumberland Sausage but we accept that good quality sausage isn't to everyone's taste. The breakfast ordered was a medium, and NOT...More

A little gem of a cafe. The day we went, the lady was on her own so had a little wait but she was very apologetic. The weather was glorious and we sat outside as we had our dog. The food was tasty and fresh....Great place for a little lunch and drinks.More

Ordered drinks at 3.50 to be greeted by absolute shock and horror as they close at 4. The faces on them! We did get served and brought our drinks with an attitude. If you’re that bothered about finishing at 4, maybe don’t take any orders...at all after 3.30 if the staff are going to act like stroppy teenagers.More

Thankyou for your review. To be fair to the staff, they are actually required to stop serving at 3.45pm, but our staff members obviously served you regardless of this, on this day. After a long hot shift, the staff were obviously very exhausted which I'm...More

Dropped in late afternoon and enjoyed a good choice of cakes, traybakes, etc along with a proper brew! Aware staff would be packing up around us but it didn't matter at all as the welcome and choice were excellent - thank you.

We were visiting the town and were looking for somewhere dog friendly and saw the outside seating area from the Main Street. The staff were very friendly and said that we could sit inside. The coffee was good and the cakes were fantastic. It was...also very reasonably priced. If we were local this would definitely be our regular for coffee and food!More
