While in Coniston we visited this cafe several times.. The food is really exceptional we had toasted sandwiches the best we have ever had. Really nice sitting on the outside area next to Lake Coniston. The staff really pleasant and good fast service. I would...really recommend this place for just a coffee and cake or lunch.More

Well located with views over Coniston water and water activities on the doorstep. Food is quickly served, ordered at the till or by a phone App from the table. Food is fresh and restaurant is always clean - including the three loos !

We called here while we were waiting for the Gondola. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had Tea and Shortbread which was really good.

Yesterday morning we visited The Bluebird Café with our dogs during a very heavy rain storm. The café appeared to be bright, very clean and tidy but not very busy. We seated ourselves at a table, removed our wet coats and my husband went to...the servery to place an order. After which, a male assistant politely asked us to move to the patio area as dogs were not allowed inside the cafe. This caused us some embarrassment, but we did as instructed. There was one other couple seated outside. All the tables and chairs were very wet but the assistant offered to towel dry a table, wiped a couple of chairs and turned on a heater. Rain continued to be blown and drip onto the table through the sun canopy. At the same time a female assistant brought out our order, when I asked her if there was a notice displayed to inform customers about allowing dogs into the café. She responded by saying “no, we always tell people, we missed you coming in”. I suggested, in order to politely inform customers, a notice should be displayed, such as ‘Dogs Welcome, Patio Area Only’, her response was “this has always been the way we do it and that’s what we’ll do”! The coffee was a luke warm temperature but the Bakewell Tart was really nice. An embarrassing visit which could have been avoided by displaying a simple notice.More

Lovely cafe and perfect view of lake! Staff really friendly and efficient and premise very Covid aware - patrons ignored one way system but premise did everything they could to ensure safety of patrons! Will be visiting again!

Toastie and a cup of soup - perfect when the wind is blowing on the lake - expensive but good value!

Stopped off at the Bluebird Cafe for a quick drink to get out of the weather. I went for a hot chocolate with all the extras so it wasn’t cheap but it was delicious. They also offer alternative milks which is always a nice bonus....We visited on a rainy day but I imagine on a hot summers day visiting the cafe and looking out over Coniston Water is wonderful.More

Excellent dog friendly cafe. We visited this cafe twice on our holiday in Coniston. On both occasions. The food and service was excellent. When we arrived we found a table on the lake terrace, note the table No and order your food at the counter....The service was prompt. The first visit we had coffee with banana and walnut loaf which is the best of its kind we have had and large slices. On the second visit we had the fruit scones, served with premium jam in a small jar, not a cheap plastic satchet (Herdwicks Cafe) with the option of clotted cream or butter. These were excellent scones and the coffee was excellent. We would certainly return here.More

Just a bit grubby and under utilised. This cafe could be so much better than a sausage or bacon bap in a box for breakfast! What are they thinking of, it’s location is fantastic but the food and service a bit woeful, it could be...a goldmine but picking the tourists pocket will come back to bite them. Disappointing sums it up well.More

Regular visitors when on holiday in the area. Nice location on the lakeside. The covid arrangements are a little ambiguous, board outside tells you to find a seat then order. I sat at a table and was moved on by a waitress as apparently people...were sitting there (possibly invisible). Anyways was finally seated food arrived quickly all except my husbands. Quick check of the bill we realised we had not been charged so possibly an error on our part as we ordered. Food arrived quickly and was tasty. Would’ve expected plates rather than disposable cardboard for some of the meals. Overall would return.More
