Staying at the nearby Coniston Coppice Caravan site, headed out here for our first night dinner. Very welcoming, and the food was lovely. Had lasagne and the other half had steak pie - both very tasty and couldnt fault it. Will always go to The Ship whenever in Coniston.

Me and my other half discovered this pub after going for a walk around Coniston water. I am happy that we happened to have stopped by. Upon arrival there was no other people inside, however the man who worked there (possibly the owner) couldn't have done more for us! Prior to going into the pub it was noted that food... More

Staying in close proximity, my wife and 10 year old initially called in to the pub after a days walking and found the staff to be friendly and the selection of ales and beers second to none. Not only a great pint but we ate there one evening and found the food to be served in gut busting portions.....needless to... More

We stopped up the road from the ship Inn pub so we visited daily for that all important pint! Good choice of drinks and meals We dined here on 2 occasions. Both times our plates were left empty. Good home food. The staff were so friendly. Making us feel at home. They went out of their way to have a... More

Great find just outside the village. All the food was prepared fresh and was very good. Large portions for big eaters and very reasonably priced. £9.95 for home made steak and ale pie with either mash, chips or new potatoes with three different fresh veg. Friendly staff and good ale.

The details and previous reviews mention the pub and restaurant, we stayed here for five nights, so I'll try to cover all the points. The Ship Inn is located close to Coniston Village and is only a short walk. What most people don't realise is that they can get to and from the pub by following the old railway line,... More

We were staying for a week near the centre of Coniston, which is well provided with good pubs. When out walking we saw the Ship which is about a third of a mile south on the A593. We tried out the Sunday roast which was well cooked and very good value. We liked the food and friendly atmosphere so much,... More

A great pub in the heart of the Lake District. Great atmosphere with really friendly staff, excellent food (very good portions and tremendous value) and good choice of quality ales. Highly recommend this as a stop off on your way around this beautiful area. And the liver and onions is a good choice for evening meal!
