Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This has got to be the most delicious Sunday lunch ever! The pork loin with crackling and stunning array of vegetables was hot and beautifully cooked. You can even order an extra jug of gravey! 😋 The desserts of sticky toffee pudding and crème brûlée...were also stunning. Certainly worth the walk from Ambleside and the walk back to digest 😊 The staff there are great. Nothing is a problem, great banter! Today was also great as there was live music. A great singer created a relaxed Sunday vibe 🎶 Thank you!More

Visited here for a drink. Two glasses of wine for £24 - a bit excessive!! Would pay this in Manchester for an upmarket venue, felt ripped off and won’t return.

We wanted somewhere that was showing Sky Sports for the live football in the afternoon. As the pub was next-door to our hotel and also sold food it ticked all the boxes. The food was typical pub fare and was tasty. A large selection of...drinks including some craft beers served by friendly staff. The whole place had a good atmosphere oh and its very dog friendly! We will call in again when we next visit Grasmere (and we will because the hotel was also very good.)More

Came for what we thought would be a few quiet drinks after a meal at another restaurant only to stay until the end enjoying the live music and singing along with the crowd. Great atmosphere. Got lost leaving as it’s set back from the road...and very dark but the numerous drinks probably had something to do with it.More

Best place for beers in Grasmere by an absolute country mile, serving around 8 hand pulls and craft cans / bottles as well. Staff were absolute brilliant with customers talking through the beers and offering samples. We didn’t sample the food but the place was...heaving and the food did look pretty good.More

Been going to Tweedies for years although this year there were different staff and it wasn't a patch on previous years. Ordered Cajun Chicken and no Cajun flavour at all. Even tried the skin and that was tasteless. Commented to the barman that there wasn't...any Cajun flavour and he replied by saying it was in the skin. I explained that I'd tried the skin and there wasn't any flavour to which I was told I hadn't because I'd left the skin uneaten. Very defensive. Also asked for some table water to go with the meal and was brought a pint glass for 3 of us and was advised that they'd needed the bottles of water for the restaurant.... which served the same menu. Also mentioned this to the barman who said that was probably right but if it'd been him he'd have brought us 3 glasses out. .. .. Great! No apology. It was busy with drinkers but only noticed 2 other tables eating in the bar area so may be that says it all.More

Having had Tweedies recommended we decided to have a try. A short walk around an impressive building brought us into a Bar/ Restaurant. First impressions were a bit soulless and lacking atmosphere. The restaurant side of the bar was plain and sterile. One walk was...decorated in beer mats and the tables were arranged around the walls in symmetrical fashion. We ordered Sirloin Steak with a Chimicuchri sauce which comprised of onion garlic and chilli. The meal arrived with the steak already carved on a bed of skinny chips and rocket leaves on the side. The steak was cooked perfectly but the sauce was disappointing with no taste of chilli at all. The after taste was just garlic. I was asked for feed back which was met with a defensive attitude which is only natural. However all feedback should be dealt with positively as it’s the customer who pays the bill. Ultimately I was disappointed with my meal the skinny chips devalued it and the sauce really wasn’t a sauce you could pour. It was an expensive piece of steak well cooked.More

After reading some of the reviews of Tweedies, I was quite tempted to cancel my booking for seven of us for an early dinner. However, we decided to go ahead…. And I’m so glad we did! We had a brilliant time! The service from every...single member of staff was warm and friendly (shout out to Michelle - an absolute star). The food arrived promptly and everything we ordered was quite simply delicious; we couldn’t have asked for more. Tweedies may not be the most modern and glamorous of eateries. It’s a down to earth, plain and simple, unpretentious bar and restaurant that serves great food and an amazing selection of beers. And it will definitely be our first port of call next time we’re in Grasmere. Do give it a try. You really can’t go wrong.More
