We were staying in Kendal for a couple of nights and didn't fancy the "all you can eat breakfast" at the hotel so walk round the corner and found this cafe. Came in both mornings, the food is freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and a hive of local knowledge. Would definitely visit again if we're back in Kendal.

This is a great place to stop for food and great coffee. We were a family of four out for breakfast. We had the breakfast and coffee, we were offered three choices of roast which were a light, medium or dark. We tried both the medium and dark roast which were all great tasting notes. The place has friendly staff, newspapers at hand and the place was dog friendly. The selection of cakes was extensive and reasonably priced - we took some as a take away to try later! Highly recommended.

Went for lunch today at the bristly hog in Kendal and both the staff and food was lovely! Couldn’t fault it! When we first walked in we had to sign in for track and trace and all guidelines were clearly shown inside, we were seated at a lovely little table for two by the window which was great! When we sat down we were given menus and told to order at the till, we ordered two iced teas (one peach and one raspberry) and we ordered the sharing platter of beef chilli nachos. Our drinks arrived first and they were presented well in a large glass with the logo attached which was very cute! Then our food arrived and OMG!!! It was huge, the food looked amazing and I would totally recommend to anyone wanting to support a small business! The only think I could fault was that there wasn’t enough beef in the chilli but it was still enough as it was! Everything came within 10 minutes of being sat down. All the staff were lovely and very friendly, couldn’t fault them at all, all of them were wearing PPE and following the guidelines which was a bonus! Thank you to all the staff you are doing an amazing job!!! Keep it up!!! 💕

My husband and I had an unplanned visit to Kendal for a day. Stumbled acorss this little gem of a place. Very friendly staff. Extensive exciting menu. My husband had scrambbled eggs and smoked salmon on toast and I decided upon coronation chicken sandwich and broccoli soup. Both were generous portions very tasty indeed. We really took to the place so much so we decided upon a second visit later on in the day to reward ourselves with scrumptious cakes. All in all a fabulous coffee shop! Will definitely visit again if we ever find ourselves back in Kendal.

We darted in here as our first stop upon arriving in Kendall. Absolutely starving and that is probably the best way to arrive here. We enjoyed our food so much and devoured the cakes which were massive and so delicious. The building itself is quirky with sloping floors and odd angles so watch your head. Beautifully kept and the staff were just the absolute best. It was like being looked after by your mum. Kudos to the steps taken to open in this Covid climate: not intrusive at all but made to feel very safe and secure. We sat upstairs in a corner table by the window, and a family was sat upstairs able to spread out with their kids which must have been a godsend for them. Can not recommend this place enough.

Wow what an awesome place. I am actually sat in the cafe writing this as I’m so overly impressed with the coffee and food. The coffee is so tasty and the staff very knowledgeable about the different strengths they offer. Even 30 mins before closing they served hot food which was tasty and freshly made. Highly recommend, we will be back

Popped in for Bunch. Perfectly cooked poached eggs - one was even broken and i was offered a remake. Huge selection of food available and drinks - but would have preferred standard tea rather than fancy loose leaf tea. 100% going back if ever in Kendal.

We have always stopped at this place when stopping in Kendal we have for a number of years. The food is fabulous and such friendly staff. When we arrived last Wednesday it was very busy . I ask a young waitress if their were empty tables upstairs she took us upstairs gave us menus and said she will come back to take our order. The first thing I was aware of was the sticky table , but it could of been the sanitiser spray they previously used. We sat and wait for her to come back so 10/15 mins later my husband went down to order, she was very apologetic , but the same happened again the ladies waited then one of them went down to order. But the service and the friendly staff was what we liked even the older lady on the till looked harassed Food was lovely. We never returned in the days we stopped in Kendal.

Thank you for your review, I’m really sorry you had to wait to be served and this is obviously not acceptable, we strive on customer service and obviously we have let you down We have like a lot of other hospitality businesses struggled to recruit and this has had a impact on the team who are working harder than ever before, this is not an excuse We really hope you will give us a chance to redeem ourselves on your next visit to Kendal and again thank you for taking the time to write your review Regards Kim

So good to return to this lovely cafe after several months. You can always rely on excellent service and great food made from quality ingredients. Staff are so patient and helpful with my disabled husband. Worth the trip to Kendal!

Absolutely loved our visit to get some brunch on Sunday. The coffee was great and we all loved our food, couldn't even finish mine as the portion was so big. Everything looked fresh and made from quality ingredients. The waitress who took our order seemed a bit nervous as she was new, but she was absolutely charming and very polite, I would love her to know that she is doing a great job! We will absolutely come back next time we are in Kendal, a shame that we found it on our last day of visit. 5 stars!

We had breakfast at this cafe in July 2019, it was excellent. We visit Kendal every year and this was our go to venue for breakfast this morning and we weren’t disappointed. The place is so clean and bright, very relaxing and the staff are very customer focused. There are different coffees and teas to choose from, a varied breakfast menu and the cakes are of varying varieties and very tasty. Tasteful background music and a lovely atmosphere. Kim and her team gave certainly got it right!

After cycling from Lancaster to Kendal 13 of us parked our bikes outside and made our way in. It is a warm and welcoming place, service was very quick. I ordered a Fruit Scone with butter and jam. It arrived at the tables with my pot of tea minutes after ordering. The scone was lovely so big it was extremely filling which was good and just what was need. The staff were very chatty asking where we had cycled from. Lots of seating available upstairs as well. The toilets were immaculate The tables were cleared quickly and as we left they said goodbye and thank you. I would definitely visit again.

A lovely warm greeting upon entering we were early so had a choice of seat, not only a choice of coffee but what type of roast we wanted. While the price may seem higher than others close by so not let that put you off, the quality of the food tells you it is not expensive as they spend it on good ingredients. Well worth the visit and being local it will be on the return to list

First place we came across having parked up and seemed a good option based on TA. Nice clean cafe with a decent sounding menu of all days breakfasts, sandwiches, jackets etc. We had the Yorkshire pudding wrap with chicken and stuffing served with a cup of broccoli and almond soup and avocado and poached eggs on toast. Drinks were diet coke and sparkling water. Overall the food was just OK. Perhaps all a bit bland although the soup was better.
