Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Next Door @ 19 wine bar is fantastic! Really lovely surroundings, atmosphere and friendly staff. Lots of lovely choices on the menu for drinks and food. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and food was excellent. We were just passing through but if we lived nearer...this would definitely be our regular place to go. If we are in the area again we will definitely return.More

Had a late lunch at 19 The Wine Bar today which was excellent. They have now extended I the lower level naming it Next Door. This a fantastic addition and the decor is very interesting and eclectic. The atmosphere is warm and very inviting. Well...worth a visit.More

Visited for a quick drink, a lovely venue with a nice and calming atmosphere. Menu for drinks and food is extensive though only stayed for drinks (food does look amazing though!), staff were absolutely lovely too, nothing was too much. Will be back.

The most horrible and embarrassing experience I have ever had. We visited on Friday evening - our usual night out sampling beer at a few of the local craft beer bars/breweries. We are in our late fifties and sixties and there are only three of...us. One of us asked for a taste of a beer and then requested to look at one the craft ale cans. When it was brought over to him he joked and asked for it to be taken away as it was non alcoholic! At this point the mood changed and my friend was told that he could only be served non alcoholic beer as he had clearly had enough! It was quite unbelievable. He was so embarrassed he just left. Hardly the action if someone who was drunk! The two of us who remained tried to tell the bar manager that in no way was he drunk. But she would not listen and told us it was duty not to serve drunk people. We could not believe what we hearing! We decided to leave too as it was so unpleasant an experience. At which point we were asked to pay for our drinks. Our friend has been a regular at the Wine Bar for many years through its various incarnations and we only went in for a bit of nostalgia. We certainly won’t be going back. There are better bars with much better beers now in Kendal and certainly ones with a warmer welcome. Ironically we had to step over a pool of vomit on the pavement outside to get in. Perhaps we were getting the backlash from that?More

Tasty Food, Delicious Drink, Lovely Atmosphere. Lived in kendal all my life and never visited the wine bar. Now I’m glad I did. Everything about this place is amazing. The beer garden is lovely when the sun is out. The staff are lovely and make...you feel welcome. The food is just amazing and very reasonably priced. I recommend the fries or the cheese and pesto panini.More

Very rowdy at the point of intimidation. Slow service. Great bar when it’s quiet but a victim of its success when it’s crowded

Such a shame that the older lady that was managing the bar area was impatient, rude and very disrespectful. We booked with Carl by phone but when we arrived we were met with a terse unpleasant lady who was intent in making our evening difficult....If I ran my business like that I would go bust very quickly! Luckily the other staff redeemed her rudeness.More

We stopped by for a quick drink before heading elsewhere for dinner, but we liked it so much that we returned later that same night for some after-dinner cocktails! Nice atmosphere, decent prices and friendly staff.

Enjoying a night in Kendal and decided to pop in for a quick night cap! Walked in at 10.15pm to be told they were closed... Yet the 4 people that walked in behind us stayed! As locals we probably won't be back. Shame.

Popped in for a drink, to dodge the intermittent rain, and got enticed into having some nice snacks and had a great late afternoon chill out. Was gutted that the following evening it was closed due to staff shortage but would recommend to all and...will return ourselves next time we're in Kendal.More
