Armstrong Ward is a lovely, upmarket "lifestyle" store, selling everything from quality toys, quirky ceramics to fine furniture and lighting. The cafe, on the lower level, is well established now and serves excellent, homemade cakes, scones and savouries, all accompanied by some well-brewed teas and coffees. Service is friendly and prices are moderate.

Decided to try this cafe for coffee and my husband had a hot chocolate. Both were well made and very hot, lovely cozy surrounds, very difficult not to buy something here particularly upstairs with all the lovely nicknacks around.

Lovely cafe. Ate hear alone as my partner was cycling. Had the home made soup and bread which was delicious. Menu looks really good and I noticed the next table has cheese and meat pltters they looked scummy. The girl that served me was very pleasant and the service was very good.

Thrives on the fact that there are few shops of it's kind in the Kendal area, therefore the prices are high.

Great service and a cracking range of cakes, but we just had a coffee. Only downside, I know it was December but it was a bit chilly in there. Would pop in again to sample the cakes though!

I visited the Armstrong Ward cafe earlier this week whilst in Kendal for a light lunch. First impressions were good, with an inviting selection of homemade cakes on the counter. We ordered drinks and one sandwich from the specials board and two tomato and lentil soups. There appeared to be only one waitress serving so the drinks took some time... More

Firstly please accept my apologies that you had a disappointing experience in our cafe and thank you for taking the time to bring your disappointment to our attention. Your experience was unacceptable and was very much at odds with our usual friendly and prompt service. Firstly it can take a little bit of time to prepare an order of hot... More

Good coffee and a yummy cake. Nice venue with a pleasant ambience about it. Was a bit cold but think that was because people didn't close the door fully.

Thank you very much for your review...so glad you enjoyed the coffee and cake in our relaxed café. Sorry you found it a little cold, your are absolutely right with the wild windy weather we've had, the door has been left ajar...usually its warm and cosy. More
