Visited recently and was impressed by service and food can’t complain about anything tbh nice inside very busy but not a long wait time for food all cooked well and very tasty
Thank you for your review. We hope to see you again in the future.
We wanted to stop off for lunch on the way home from a holiday in Scotland. I’ll be honest, we were a bit worried about dining at Romneys based on the most recent trip advisor reviews being negative. The feedback was concerning slow service and...we didn’t want to have to wait too long since we were to travel a further 3 hours after lunch. We didn’t need to worry. The service was really good. Even the young (seemingly new) staff were very attentive, polite and professional. We ate roast beef Sunday lunch (really good!) and others are from the main menu. Lamb shank was applauded, as was the pancetta starter. We asked if we could buy an extra Yorkshire pudd for our 12 year old) as they were sooooo good and we were kindly given one wrapped to take away for the journey. The building and setting is really lovely and toilets clean. We would definitely come back. Thanks to all staff. Your hard work and diligence doesn’t go unnoticed.More
Hi Michelle, Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit to Romneys. We hope to see you again soon. Kind regards.
Ordered a burger, with'hand cut chips' . Came after about 30 mins. Burger itself was fine, but the chips appeared frozen. Very dry and powdery when I cut one. I was expecting home made, hand cut chips. Not too be . Informed batman when I...paid. Going by his response, it appears it's the norm.More
Hi Tom, Our hand-cut chips are as advertised, and have never been from frozen. I apologise that you found yours to be disappointing as this is definitely not the norm. If you had brought this to the attention of your waitress at the time, rather...More
We were a table of 11 and we had booked well in advance. When we arrived we placed on a table which only held 8 (9 at a push). We were made to feel like we told them the wrong party size even thou we...confirmed in the morning of the visit. There was a lot of waiting between drinks revived and food coming out. When we got the food it wasn’t that hot but nothing to complain about. There was two steak orders with the party one ribeye medium and one sirloin medium rare. They must have muddle up the cooking as the ribeye was medium rare and the sirloin was medium. Didn’t want to complain and it would have taken another 20 minutes to cook them right again and by that time everyone would have finished their meals. Another 20/30 mins after we finished our meals we finally had our dessert order taken. I had to ask behind the bar for someone to take the order. There was a young woman doing everything behind the bar while 2 other members of staff were to busy chatting to one of the regulars. I think of one these were the manager/supervisor. Over all I won’t be coming back but I wouldn’t stop other people going. I just don’t like waiting 2 and 1/5 for only 2 courses.More

Lovely building and setting - rather noisy inside. Glass floor over the cellar is worth seeing. Service was very willing but they were short staffed and forgot to ask basic questions as hurrying and the meals took a long time to come. But the food...was good.More

Top marks for Romneys in Kendal Just had the Cumbrian sausage and mash 10 out of 10. Enjoyed this very much and the knickerbocker glory was excellent. My partner had the beef stroganoff for main and an apple and caramel cake for dessert, which was...all brilliantMore
Great choice of food, dedicated gluten free menu. Friendly waiting staff. Great music, ambiance and seating.
Had our evening meal at Romneys - a really great start to our Scotland holiday - Food and staff were really great - would definitely recommend
Staff took such good care of our large and difficult party. Reasonably priced and lovely food. Had a lovely time. Thank you
Really lovely roast dinner and great service from our waitress Alex. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely return here if we’re back in the area.
Lovely cosy pub/restaurant, I went with friends for a evening meal, nothing was too much trouble even when extra people join us, extra chairs added to our table, food was lovely and fresh. I had the hunters chicken...yummy, we all shared cheese boards instead of...desserts. Staff were lovely and very helpful. We will be back again soonMore
