Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is just the job after a bit of fresh air. The food was amazing, much better than anything you'd get at a chain pub. Great choice on the menu, very good value. There were gluten free options and dairy free on request. Really good...beers. Of special note is how good the staff were. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was with a smile :-) Really refreshing.More

On Friday 27th October arrived in Keswick for a weekend away, went for a drink in the afternoon then went back later to eat. The 4 of us perched on a small table, and then the lady managing the tables spotted a table becoming free,...she reserved the table for us while we swapped over. The atmosphere was great as was the drinks and food service, the food quality and quantity was above and beyond normal expectationsMore

Had an enjoyable meal at the Bank Tavern in Keswick. Service was friendly, there is a good menu with additional choices on the specials board. Good range of beers. The food was well cooked and enjoyable.

Good food, excellent beers, traditional Pub atmosphere, with friendly, observant, efficient staff. As a dog owner myself, and allergic to them! I enjoyed being able to eat where there were specific ares for dogs.

Went for our evening meal on the last day of our holiday. As some have said not really dog friendly as only a few tables by the front door. The pub itself needs a total revamp. Bar staff miserable. Of the 3 meals we ordered...one was thoroughly enjoyed which was the burger. I had lasagne which was totally tasteless and had no sign of meat just a brown paste layered with green lasagne. Husband had the fish pie which contained very little fish and had loads of sloppy mash on the top. Overall poor. Definitely not visit againMore

We had a fantastic meal and a lovely pint of local real ale from the wide selection on offer. Always a friendly busy place to visit. Welcomes dogs.

We came here last Thursday and we had to fight to get a seat , the place was full Which is always a good sign So on our last night Saturday we decided to try and get a table so that we could eat here...We had seen some food that had come out to other tables when we came here on Thursday and the food looked good I got steak and kidney pie , veg and chips My partner got steak and kidney pudding , veg and chips Both plates where very filling and we both thought that the food was rather good If we had to be fussy tho We both agreed that the gravy could be tastier I had big chunks off steak in my pie but it was a little dry inside the pie My partner said his steak and kidney pudding was also dry and not enough kidney inside for his taste because he loves kidney But we would come backMore

Bank Tavern was the first eatery we tried during our week in Keswick and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food that was hot, tasty and reasonably priced.

I have been coming to the Bank Tavern for over 20 years and have had some fantastic evenings and meals here, to say I was disappointed on Sunday was an understatement, very dog unfriendly as asked to move our small dog about 18 inches from...a minging carpet to a stone slabbed area, the beer selection was awful 5 ales, all hand pump all same strength and all flat and expensive. Finally the food did raise our spirits slightly but Beef Madras was basically stewing meat with spicy gravy, pie and chips very nice though even for the best part of £20. Would like to think I'll be back but sadly maybe not, c'mon guys stop resting on your laurels, sort your beer out and ban dogs altogether to stop annoying dog owners!More

This pub/restaurant is great for a night out. When in Keswick we always eat an evening meal here. Staff are friendly & efficient. Food is generous portions & reasonably priced too. They also offer lught bites for smaller appetites. Proper home cooked food from extensive...menu & blackboard specials. Something for everyone. We ate in The Kings Hotel which was nice & The George Hotel but this was by far the best food in September 2023.More

Called in here for a late dinner as when weblooked on the website it said dog friendly, well they’re not! Dogs are allowed on the slate floor which is basically around 5 tables( which none of these people had dogs!)my dogs was half on the...carpet half on the slate floor and a member of staff stopped in her tracks and asked me to take the dog of the carpet completely ridiculous, on the plus side the food was ok but had we not already ordered I would not have stayed here, the previous night we went to the pheasant which was dog friendly we’re the staff made a fuss of our dog and even brought him some sausage out, we will not be returning to this pub and they need change there sign to say dogs will barely be tolerated! Many more pubs in Keswick that really are dog friendly don’t bother with this one.More

Called into the Bank Tavern after reading good reviews I wasn't disappointed the Sunday Beef roast dinner was delicious however my other halfs bacon & cheese baguette with chips & side salad was a major disappointment very little bacon & even less cheese & the...cheese that was there hard & dried out the whole thing was very dry, luckily my 2 thick beef slices were ample enough for me to share so his baguette became a beef & mustard one the salad was enjoyable. Would have complained immediately but staff were scarce & busy mentioned the baguette & it's lack of filling when the tables were cleared but just told we'll let the kitchen know.More
