Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was really looking forward to eating here on recent reviews and street food adding a different meaning to dining. I ordered several different portions of their street food but was rather disappointed nearly all were rather bland and had very little taste there was certainly...very little chilli in them or none at all. All in all a rather let down experience.More

Having arrived for our 7pm reservation we were seated upstairs (family of 4) We ordered drinks (what a wait). We finally ordered and WAITED 30 minutes for our drinks. Two snack starters arrived before the drinks. When they arrived the Wordsworth beer was missing and...an extra lager …. Shame as the food was worth the visit. I’m sorry but 30 minutes to wait for drinks after two polite reminder asks to chase ! The food was overshadowed by general poor service and we heard the next table having to chase their wine. So so disappointed….More

Delicious food, great menu, cosy atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. The restaurant was recommended to us by the B&B we were staying at in Keswick - Barua Street Food is so popular I recommended booking well in advance - enjoy!

This came up on my Instagram and seeing the videos, I had to book. The staff were super friendly and guided us with the menu. Five dishes between two of us was about right. When the food came out (not all at the same time...which was a good thing actually), it was piping hot and nothing was overpowering with spice. The menu is a good size and for a relatively small space, it works well and the tables upstairs feel intimate enough. The onion bhaji and lamb keema were probs my favorite dishes. I'll return here no doubt and take family next time. Recommend :)More

The menu has lots of choice, we really struggled to choose what to order because it all sounded so tasty! The food was delicious and the service was efficient and very friendly. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed our meal and would...definitely eat here again.More

Dropped in without a booking and managed to get a table just before it started to fill up for the evening. Menu was excellent with lots of veggie options and all our dishes looked and tasted great. Service was friendly and welcoming but seemed a...little stretched at times. One of the staff was possibly new and still quite unsure but I’m sure things will improve.More

Good concept and friendly staff. Snack starter and onion bhaji were delicious. We ordered 3 main dishes and one rice serving which was quite sufficient for 2 healthy appetites. All the mains were good but perhaps needed more heat and spicing for our palates. Main...downside for us ( me in particular) is that it’s quite a small restaurant downstairs and every table except ours had brought dogs with them. We had to climb over a recumbent dog to sit down. All the animals were well behaved but as a person who is not a dog lover ( and I accept I’m in the minority) I didn’t like it. It would potentially put me off returning. I don’t know if staff can offer a dog free area for those of us who are nervous / allergic or put off by eating alongside other peoples animals.More

Found this brilliant and unusual Indian food restaurant during a stay locally. Fantastic and really delicious street food/tapas style dishes served by knowledgeable and personable staff. A great start to a wonderful evening at Theatre by the Lake. Highly recommend both!

We ordered too much but I have no regrets about that and I would do it all over again because it was all so delicious! The paratha and the cauliflower were particularly good.

Absolutely beautiful food, and a really lovely team that work there. We had about 7 dishes and ate every mouthful of them all. Can’t wait to go again.

Food was cold and greasy, waitress kept telling us about new chef and not usual standard. She refunded 2 dishes without a argument and just’refunded it without us asking. Cold and very greasy, people around us were leaving Bhajis, a mass of onion rings with...no Indian flavour at all. Very disappointing after reading reviews Cold food and compared to Mexican restaurant no comparison Waiting staff very pleasant We kept being told new chef on the nightMore
