Lovely venue , we dined out in the function "room " a beautiful oak framed log cabin with bi-folds opening up onto the garden , which has a large sandpit for kids .
Nice starters enjoyed by the 3 adults and accompanied by the kids meals , my ribs where perfect .
Mains soon followed and I had the Seafood Linguine which was good.
Afters , pudding was a nice ending to our meal and my Lemon tart lived up to my expectations , served alongside a nice ice-cream .
£50 off our bill 😁 capped a lovely dining experience with hard working pleasant staff making it an experience we can recommend to others .

Booked a night here and so glad we did, we arrived on a Sunday and the pub was busy both inside and out as a live band were playing but there were so many bar staff that we were served quickly and even managed to find a cozy seat inside. The pub oozes charm and is very quaint. Staff were delightful and could not do enough for us, very friendly and chatty. Our room was lovely and clean and the beds were comfy. Food was delicious both in the evening and at breakfast, ie full cooked breakfast. Will definitely be returning. lovely garden at the back, ideal for children. Dog friendly too. Near to Ullswater and Keswick ie a short drive away.

My family and I visited this quaint, local pub for dinner while staying nearby and had a fantastic time. The staff couldn’t do more for you; they were funny and attentive. The food came in very large portions, and the plates were presented beautifully.

Well it wasn't a great welcome as soon as I walked in with my 2 boys aged 8 the unfriendly woman behind the bar say "can you close the door" we had literally just walked in and my husband was just behind us. I asked if there were any other seats to have lunch as the only table available was right beside the door, her response was the other area is set up for the rugby starting so you wont want to sit there. So we sat on the table available by the door. We ordered drinks and the food at about 2.10pm The food was nice but rather pricey for what you got I basically got 2 pieces of cut bread with cheese and side salad and it was £7. One of my boys wanted more garlic bread so when i got the attnetion of the waitress to ask if we could order more she said she would need to check as they stop serving at 2.30pm and it was 2.34pm, she then came back and said that they couldnt make it. Unbelievable.
At one point during our visit my husband went to watch the rugby and one of my boys went through to see him to be told my the woman behind that bar to sit down.
The woman behind the bar needs to be trained on her customer services and perhaps told to smile every now and then

Visit 1 - we were taken to a cabin which was nice &spacious. A waitress took a drinks order whilst be perused the menu. My son &I had ribeye steak which was tasty. We all had a lovely time so booked the following Weds.
On arrival we were taken to the log cabin again. Drinks order was taken & then the food ordered. The food arrived after a short wait. It was hot. Waitress had come to our table twice shortly after we had received our food to ask if it was alright and nothing wrong. As we had barely started eating the food we said yes however soon realised it wasn't so good. The gammon was fatty/tough. Child 1 asked me to cut their steak for them as they were struggling. A third of it was too tough to cut &the rest of the steak wasn't the easiest to cut. Child 3 hadn't started on their burger for some time. We encouraged him to eat his burger. His dad cut burger in half. Child 1 barely touched their steak so asked if she could have a half of the burger. When it was handed to her she showed it me. The burger was raw in the middle. A waitress came in to clear the table so we advised we weren't happy with the burger, steak & dried baked beans on a plate. She went for the manager who came to us. He was rude, shouty & unwilling to listen. He referred to dine out scheme as "discount". We said we're not paying for the burger as it was raw. He told us to go & not come back. We said calm down he didn't. At the bar he continued ranting get out get out. My advice - DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB.

First, please accept my apologies for the apparent sub-standard service you received. You were asked three times if everything was acceptable and the answer was "Yes". The only food left was the burger which was removed from the bill along with a considerable amount of drinks . One complaint you raised was that the beans were dry. That is something new which we will need to take a look at. The complaint was dealt with in a courteous manner despite our waitresses being pressured. We will not be too disappointed should you never return, but will endeavour to do better should you do so. Our humble apologies.

A few of the negative comments resonated.
We were staying close by so given it was the nearest with super reviews we booked for dinner. It was ok, so we booked again for a second night, due to the location.
What I would say is Covid-Safe is ok, regularly cleaning the touch points and tables, that’s probably would have taken the pub from poor to average, but importantly the loos weren’t clean though, need a good scrub of the floor and sink etc, so second visit I opted to hold off, we ate and left.
Food, average pub micro food or fried food. The menu doesn’t match the quality of the food, in a bad way.
My partner had the lamb which he did eat fully, but I tried it and it wasn’t nice, he didn’t really like it but ate it rather than fuss, and frankly if he hadn’t eaten would have been hungry. The waitress asked if all ok, we said no not really and there was no comment. Very over priced for what you get.
Staff friendly maybe, but not particularly attentive considering there isn’t currently many tables and were a few staff in.
Rating average, we didn’t tip, and we always tip. Mainly as the service wasn’t great, nor the food.
Comments on the landlady, whilst she was ok with us I did overhear her be very rude to another customer who was clearly waiting to be served and she totally ignored him. When he asked if anyone was serving she snapped back “yes” abs continued to ignore him!
We won’t be returning next time we’re in the area, which is a shame.
This place will never suffer due to its location.
No need for a rude response by management, thank you all the same, seems you can’t take any criticism reading the negative reviews!

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that we let you down on this occasion and our staff were devastated to read your comments.. However, they were much happier when they got to the paragraph where you said that you would not be returning. We hope your bowels did not suffer too much due to the delay in emptying them.

Firstly, lovely little pub, very quaint, staff are really friendly and very covid friendly.
On entry a one way system, showed to your table, very prompt service drinks arrived and order taken for food.
Had the chinese ribs starter, lovely, very tender and tasty.
Main however, fish and chips, although a huge fish was a bit greasy, chips okish.
Lamb steak, said on menu cooked pink, not the case, said spiced potatoes, just normal, veg al dente which is fine, overall very bland.
Was ok for price with the discount, but wouldnt return.

We were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the less favourable reviews. Very well organised with current Covid restrictions. Extremely obliging including allowing me to chose from the smaller portioned children’s menu.

The food is pretty standard pub-grub. Everything we ate was acceptable, and we all agreed the chips were really good. But the prices are out of sync with reality. This is nice food at gourmet prices. Pub has a nice atmosphere generally but can be very very busy and noisy so not really suitable for children. Also whatever you do, don’t ask for a starter as a main course (as my 12 year old did) as they will employ price-gouging tactics and charge you twice (without any prior notification or agreement). I paid and told the waitress that I felt this was ‘taking the mick’ pointing out that a bowl of nachos had now become the most expensive main course in our party. She basically told me to get stuffed! Disappointing for a family who visit 5 to 6 times a year, and regularly bring friends and family as guests. We will not be coming back, much preferring the Clickham Inn or the Sun Inn both of which are nearby and frankly fa superior establishments.

Friendly pub serving typical pub grub. One of us scampi and chips, the other the steak pie. Both were of acceptable standard but far too many chips. There must be so much food waste at this pub. I would suggest that they offered dishes with a smaller portion of chips. I would say we wasted 80% of ours and I hate food waste, it is so unnecessary.

Unlike many Lake District pubs, this one is open daily even 'out of season'. It can do this as it is a winner with the locals - providing a warm welcome, a real fire, and typical but well presented pub food. Portions are generous, particularly for main courses, and local ingredients are used where possible. Visitors are welcome too; we came twice while staying nearby , and though we did not book, we were fitted in and were well looked after.

We finished our meal which was mediocre at best, I went to the bar to get another drink to witness the landlord cough into his hand then continued to pour a pint. This would be cause for concern at the best of times but very alarming in the current climate.
General cleanliness was poor and there was a definite lack of social distancing.

Three of us booked in for Sunday lunch . We all had the roast beef and all agreed that it was a lovely lunch. The beef was tender and tasty and the vegetables were beautifully cooked. It was a huge plateful so unfortunately we had no room for a pudding.

I dined at The Boot & Shoe Inn as a party of 3 at the end of February 2022. We made a reservation online. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated in the restaurant which was small but cosy and traditional. The menu choices were good and comprised the usual pub favourites. I opted for a burger which was delicious. My co-diners opted for the Fish and Chips (which looked really impressive) and the Vegetarian Lasagne. We really enjoyed our meals which were plentiful and well presented. The staff were attentive and looked after us and I enjoyed my visit to The Boot & Shoe. Recommended.

We drove to Greystoke to dine a lovely friendly village pub for dinner on Saturday.
We were greeted warmly as we entered the pub by the landlord. We had a lovely table in the cosy restaurant next to the bar adorned with music memorabilia including an electric guitar on the fire place!
Menu has something for everyone with wide range of meat, fish, vegetarian options all reasonably priced. Our food was delivered in good time and was simply delicious with good healthy portions.
Great pub grub. My wife had a beef brisket burger while my daughter and I enjoyed Cumberland sausage.
Lovely warm, friendly village pub. Highly recommend
