My husband daughter and I visited on a Sunday. I ordered the Sunday roast, my husband fish and chips and my daughter Cumberland sausage. The pub was fairly quiet but after 45 mins we still hadn't been served. I went to the bar to enquire how long would it be before we were served, the bar maid (without checking with... More

Popped in for lunch while on holiday in Penrith. Was given a warm welcome by the barman & served promptly. We chose from the specials menu. I had the quiche with new potatoes & salad which was delicious & my companion had the soup & sandwich again delicious & excellent value for money. Will most definitely eat there again &... More

I had the chicken tikka with half and half and it was lovely (though would have preferred sauce a bit thicker but that is just my taste) and I was full after :) - husband and father in law had bacon chop with... Took the family out for lunch and it was excellent. The pubs obviously well used but clean and tidy, and the staff are very welcoming and happy to help. The food was freshly cooked and very nice with the added bonus of being very reasonably priced. Our toddler even got a tub of locally made ice cream included in his... More

Great Food, very friendly staff. Gave me a chain to lock the bikes up. Definitely recommend for a stop in Penrith when doing the C2C.

After visiting and looking at a number of pubs during our stay, we decided to go the Board and Elbow for a meal. We liked the sense of history and ambiance in this 16th Century pub. Two major plus points for me was the good selection of real ales that they had there, and their free WiFi. The pub was... More

Called in for lunch and drinks, limited beer selection and no real ciders, but they did have orchard pig bottles and an adequate sesion bitter. Burgers were very good, and huge portions of chips with them. Worth the price.
