WOW! Just WOW! Tonight was Roma’s 1st Vegan Night and it won’t be their last judging from the amazing menu and sold out seats! The chef Lucy is vegan herself and she’s pulled all the stops out tonight to create a wonderful Italian cuisine that’s entirely vegan! My wife who is vegetarian and can be a little sceptical re: vegan alternatives said ‘You'ld never guess the Tiramisu was vegan! The whole menu kept serving up delights from the hors d’oeuvres to the deserts - all packed in for £30.00 per head. The entire staff seemed to be in on the act, apparently testing recipes and were genuinely excited to serve an all vegan menu. Let’s hope the rumours of another vegan night to be held in the summer is true as l will be first in the queue!

I've never written a review before, but Cafe Roma has compelled me to share my experience. It consistently delivers the kind of high-quality food that I usually expect but often find lacking, especially when faced with prices 50-100% higher elsewhere. This warm and hospitable cafe boasts a traditional decor that enhances the overall dining ambiance. Let me be unequivocal the food at Cafe Roma is nothing short of outstanding. Fresh, simple, hearty, and unpretentious, each dish is a testament to excellence. The traditional flavors, served piping hot, are not only comforting but also delicious. The execution is flawless, making every bite a delightful experience. Equally impressive is the fantastic service, making a visit to Cafe Roma a must. It's not just about the amazing value; rather, it stands out for successfully achieving what more expensive establishments so often fail to do. The fact that this gem is reasonably priced is a welcome bonus. If I were to suggest any personal improvement, it would be the addition of draft beer. That would elevate my rating to a perfect 10. In conclusion, Cafe Roma is doing something truly special, and my advice is to stay true to this winning formula. Don't change a thing—double down on what makes it exceptional.

We booked this restaurant to celebrate my son’s graduation. The staff were very attentive, the food was delicious and really great value. Portions were very generous. The restaurant kindly provided a cake on request which my son reckoned was the best chocolate cake he’s ever had and he tucked into it again over the following couple of days ! There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and my son really loved and he headed out with his friends for further celebrations well fed. A proper family run quality venue. Thanks for contributing to a very special day for my son. Highly Recommended.

Beautiful Italian food. Visited Leicester for a show at the local theatre. Arrived early to do a little shopping and grab a bite to eat before the performance. Found this little gem whilst walking round. We found ourselves a table and you order at the bar. Menu has lots of options including a nice vegetarian range. Very good value for money, food arrived quickly to our table, was hot and tasted amazing. For two starters, two mains with two soft drinks was about £27. If we return to Leicester we’d definitely make sure Roma is on our agenda to revisit. Lovely staff, polite and we felt very welcomed.

Can’t believe we’ve never eaten here before. The food was hearty, home cooked and delicious. We both started with chicken livers that came with thick cut fresh bread. For main we had the 3 pasta sharer with a side salad and for dessert a limoncello tiramisu and a cheese and biscuits followed by coffees. It was all outstanding but the tiramisu is the best I have ever had!! All the staff were super friendly and provided excellent service. Absolutely faultless and can’t wait to return.

100% would recommend. Great authentic menu with lots of options. For main we went for 3 pastas for £18 - ideal for 2 people sharing, each was incredible and delicious. We had a pizza as a side (lol), which was also lovely and fresh. The tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had, again great punch of flavour. Lovely prompt service. Will definitely be going back.

Booked this location due to the over-whelming good reviews. Table booked for 730pm Fri 30th June. Our friend got there about 15 minutes before we arrived so sat at our table. This was in the downstairs area which had maybe 10 or 11 tables. 3 were occupied. A larger group of diners could be heard upstairs. Our waitress was very rude and impatient. Our friend ordered a main but no starter, she asked what I wanted as a main but I said I wanted a starter. She walked over to the counter (approx 10 feet away), ripped the page out of her order book, screwed it up and left it on the top. She then returned to take the remainder of our orders. Our friend said in the time he was waiting for us to arrive, she had turned away 3 or 4 separate couples wanting a table. This was despite the downstairs having at least 7 empty tables. When our food was ready she bought it out, heavily placing it on the table; she did the same with our drinks. I have to say the food was pretty good but the waitress was very rude, impatient and clearly unwelcoming! After our meal, our table was cleared and we asked for the bill. We paid without leaving a tip (as none was earned). I asked to speak to the owner / manager who was a lady called Ariassa (or similar, sorry). She was very nice and apologised unreservedly. I said I wouldn't be going back there and probably the people who were turned away wouldn't be going back. Such a shame this was my experience.

Like many others we visited early evening for a pre theatre meal. This is the sort of place we love, traditional and family run with a good choice of food at reasonable prices. We really enjoyed our meal and will” definitely return when next in Leicester. Service was attentive and very friendly as well.

I never leave reviews but felt this was needed after my amazing visit to Roma in Leicester. Visited with friends pre-theatre, we are not from Leicester so have never eaten here before but we were so surprised and delighted with this find. The food was all home made and beautiful in presentation & taste...staff were busy but attentive and the service was top notch. Our party had clean plates all round. I had the garlic mushroom starter, the chicken in mushroom sauce main course and chocolate fudge cake dessert. All of them were fantastic. Pleasantly surprised by the bill also which came to around £30 including an extta side & a wine & lemonade! You dony get quality food like this for that price nowadays. Would definitely go back if I'm ever in Leicester again!

Portion size is greatly reduced so much so that I was left hungry after meatballs and spaghetti. I had to pay £5 for a tiny portion of dried (not fresh) spaghetti to accompany my meatballs which were delicious. The combined portion was the size of a child's or starter portion. All in all a disappointing experience. Will not be returning.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you didn't enjoy your visit. that being said your waitress did try her upmost to accommodate your requirements. You ordered a main meal of 7 meatballs with a side of salad which comes included, you were charged for an extra portion of pasta, which at £5 we feel is very resonalble, yes it is dried but the alternative would be fresh hand made pasta? which i think you would struggle to find let alone only pay £5 for. You were offered the alternative of pasta with meatballs with the option to pay extra for additional meatballs, you did't want to do this. We are able to serve you as much food as you would like to satisfy your apitite but you would need to pay for it, it was obvious you didn't wan't to do this. To have what you were asking for which was 2 seperate dishes but bought together was definitely possible but both dishes would need to be paid for, I am sorry that you din't want to do this but this is a business at the end of the day and we pride ourselves on value for money and affordability, that being said additions must be paid for. If you would like to discuss the matter further you are welcome to pop in and see me any time.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for some time. I went here for a group meal with my work friends. I hadn’t eaten here before but heard great things from those I know who have. I ordered garlic mushrooms to start. They were cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned, stopping short of salty. For my main I had a vegan pizza with grilled courgette and basil oil. Simple in it’s conception but perfect in its execution. The base was light and flavoursome. The tomato sauce was delicate and fresh. The basil oil was bold and tied the whole thing together. Service was very friendly and everything in the menu is affordable and appetising. As a vegan I appreciate this and will definitely go again. This reminds me how good Italian food can be when cooked with love. I highly recommend.

Highly overrated Italian in Leicester. They are very conservative with their ingredients, the lunch pasta had 1 mushroom in it! The pizza dough was not fresh either and tasted pretty dry. Even with the lunch deal, we felt cheated with the quality of food here. It had a canteen vibe with rather loud customers and no music playing. Nothing apart from the felt Italian at this place. Not recommended and rather disappointed.

Having worked on Halford Street over 30 years ago (not there then!) and having walked by this cafe on numerous times in recent years we finally visited for lunch and are so glad we did. Merely walked in and secured a table. Lovely friendly staff and our dishes were very tasty. Good sized portions at fair prices. Would certainly recommend.

Went here for a meal with friends on a Friday evening. We had booked the table, online, the previous week. Sat in the downstairs part of the restaurant, which has a very homely atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent. We ordered 3 different starters and 4 different mains, and every dish was very good. Would definitely eat here again!

Proper Italian food that curls your toes it's that good. As good as Mrs L's the Sicilian Lady, who used to feed me whenever I went to my mates (which was most days), the place has to be amazing if it compares to her cooking. My daughter loves it there, and they make her a cheese cake that should be illegal! It's quite easily the best desert I have ever eaten (I have worked in some of the best hotels around the county), and we order a full cheese cake before we go there, to take home with us and share with the hotel staff where we stay or friends and family.
