Welcome to Nine B - an independent restaurant and bar set in the heart of Leicester. You'll be able to relax in our contemporary surroundings whilst enjoying creative cocktails and wines from around the world. We work with range of local businesses, Two birds Gin from Market Harborough, St. Martins Coffee. No matter what you fancy, we cater for anyone and everyone. We are situated in the same building as the newly open Novotel Hotel offering local office workers, shoppers and residents with a stylish city centre space to eat, drink and socialise. The modern bar serves classic and Nineb special cocktail with a wide range of spirits, popular wine selection and a cellar selection for the wine lovers.

I booked a family evening meal here and we were very excited as the restaurant and their meals/drinks look amazing online.
Aesthetically it didn’t disappoint as the restaurant looks very fancy and modern. However the atmosphere wasn’t that of a typically restaurant and that’s when your reminded that it’s based in a hotel. Considering the restaurant wasn’t busy the service was slow and staff were not as efficient as expected. For mains we ordered the steak, the salmon and the ravioli. Ours mains were okay, nothing really wow about them.
I think that kind of summed up our evening - it was okay. For the prices we paid I expected more but unfortunatley I wasn’t wowed by the service or the food.

I thought I’d give this place a try for lunch, when I got there at 12:00 noon, I asked the waiting staff if they were serving lunch.
The interior of this bar is beautiful, with marble tables and plush upholstered pink seating
I ordered soup, which was vegetarian. It was a mixed veg soup, with some dried herbs, which I felt was lacking in flavour. The soup was piping hot and presented in a lovely soup bowl.
I would go to this bar again to try a cocktail or order something else for lunch.
The bar staff were very friendly and attentive.

Visited here for the first time with my family for an anniversary dinner. We were extremely impressed. Good quality food and exemplary service from the waiting staff. They were friendly, accommodating and we were really impressed that the young waitress checked at least 3 times about the dessert for my daughter who has a nut allergy. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be coming back again.

Extremely disappointed is an understatement.
Our starters of the ham hock and asparagus wrapped in pancetta, and which was thick cut bacon. Putting two and two together, I said to my husband "they've just used leftovers from the breakfast buffet" He said the "toasted bread" from his ham hock starter might have been stale from being toasted at the start of service.
So the mains came... I Beef steak medallions which had soggy black pudding and over cooked mushrooms, and a whi h I can only assume was from breakfast. My 4 cheese ravioli was cheesy mash (not even a roux!) in thick pasta. My tomato sauce was tinned tomatoes with a drizzle of green pesto and olive oil over the top. I am so disappointed because the staff were so lovely.
I'm so upset, I left my food :(

We are extremely disappointed to hear your explanation and selection of words to describe your experience. Thanks for posting the pictures of food, as they look fantastic.
Let me go through your mentioned points
1. The Asparagus starter is Parma Ham and not bacon as it is evident from the picture you have taken. I am sure it would be very difficult to wrap a bacon left from breakfast that efficiently.
2. Due to current Covid 19 restrictions, we are not operating buffet at breakfast. The breakfast is pre plated cooked fresh to order. We were surprised to hear your assumptions of our breakfast.
3. The bread with ham hock was toasted which makes it crispy. Freshly done to order.
4. Black pudding on beef medallions was served with steak and sauce poured over it which does make it soft. Another reflection of your assumption of our breakfast, we do not serve black pudding at breakfast.
Mushrooms cooked with red wine to get the flavour.
5. 4 cheese ravioli – one of our bestselling and popular dishes. The ravioli is supposed to be filled with cheese as name suggests. This clearly visible on the picture. In addition, the sauce is made fresh in our kitchen.
6. We are glad to hear compliment about service staff.
We are in the middle of a global pandemic and we are trying our best to deliver excellent food and service. We had two managers on shift who did satisfaction checks during your time with us and we would have expected to hear from you at the time of dining rather than going on the TripAdvisor platform when you had every opportunity at the time to tell us what you thought.

While the decor is lovely, it cannot make up for the shortfall that was our evening. On a pre-booked set menu evening, by 7.30pm they had run out of things on the menu. The service staff while very nice, were very slow and forgot about us at various points throughout the evening. We had to ask repeatedly for our drinks orders and from our vantage point we could see our cocktails melting on the bar waiting for someone to bring them over.
It was not massively busy either, which would have made it easier to justify.
Food wise, the main course and desserts were lovely but the starter was underwhelming- this was the course that was sold out by 7.30pm so we couldn’t order our first choice.
Drinks in the summer during lockdown had been nice but unfortunately, dinner on this occasion was not worth the money.

We appreciate you have enjoyed our surroundings of the restaurant but we are sorry we fell short in delivering our usual standards of service and food (the starter).
The Valentines menu featured all weekend and with the scallops being our most popular starter (no pre-orders were required only booking confirmation of the Valentines Menu) we did not expect that nearly every table we had for the set menu would choose scallops. I can only apologise about this.
We were extremely busy that night, every table bar 1, was taken and we had people dining in our bar area too, with limited staffing, but this is no excuse. We did however try our upmost to make sure everyone still enjoyed there evening so again, I deeply apologise that we fell short here.
It seems that this review has been written twice, to which I deem highly unfair as we understand where we went wrong from the first review written.
I hope that we can welcome you back to Nine B in the future to change your opinion on our restaurant, bar and service.

As a relatively new restaurant, I was keen to check it out. The restaurant is set on the ground floor of the new and impressive hotel complex on Great Central Square. The venue is spacious, light and very contemporary. Additionally, just by the nature of the interior design, the restaurant feels very Covid safe with large private booths with high backs. The food was incredible and my beef medallions where mouthwatering. The staff are also very attentive. I will definitely be looking forward to returning.

Wow, I would like to own such a place.
One thing is for sure.
The new place will always look nice.
Only needs to prove.
The food we were served at the table smelled fresh. And this is already bragging.
Don't require miracles here at first.
They will definitely find their way in a while.
We recommend to check because the potential and possibilities are enormous.

Reserved a table with my partner for our anniversary. They had a space on the reservation to ask what the occasion was. The service was brilliant and the food was outstanding. At the end of the evening we were presented with a plate wishing us a Happy Anniversary and some fruit. Was a lovely touch and made the evening so special. Would highly recommend a visit!

So I pre booked for 2 people a couple of weeks in. advance for valentines paying £10 deposit pp. My table was booked for 730 as the night commenced at 630pm. My choice of starter was not available (ran out) which I don’t understand as they already had the numbers from pre booking? Also drinks…. We ordered cocktails which never arrived snd we could clearly see them on the bar melting away…we had to constantly remind staff about our drinks orders. Dessert….if we hadn’t pointed out that our dessert hadn’t arrived we wouldn’t have got it. All in all a poor experience, seemed like there was enough staff but the management and direction was poor.

Staff were really great, from hotel to bar to restaurant. However the food…. rib stater fatty and tasted as if boiled, pate was really good portion and tasty, prawns…I never seen prawns in their shell covered in tomato sauce, the mess peeling took many napkins… very strange … Charcuterie Board was good.
Mains …. Some of the table ordered 4 Ribeye . 3 ribeye came and a Sirloin. Refunded the 3 ribeye as the quality of the steak was simply uneatable. They were cooked correctly (rare/medium rare) so not chefs fault just really really bad quality meat. Staff really apologetic and came back once they took them away agreed they were not good. Offered a round of drinks (strange), as if we were going to pay for them, but we just didn’t pay for them.

Firstly its nice to hear that the team across the whole hotel have been great.
Secondly its a shame that the meat wasn't good quality on your visit, all we can do now is apologise again and let you know we have fed this back to our supplier but happy to read the chefs cooked them all correctly and the sirloin was nice.

I visited last Monday for lunch taking a supplier of mine. I have eaten here a few times & to hear from my supplier after the meal how nice his meal was, was comforting as I chose the venue. Our meal was amazing and the staff couldn't have done any more for us in respect to making us feel safe in this Covid environment and in the service they offered. If you haven't eaten here yet I would strongly recommend. Food, service and the setting of this restaurant is fantastic. Dare I add this restaurant are still doing the offer of eat out to help out. Not sure for how long....

Overall an excellent bar and restaurant. Nice relaxed vibe. Quality interior. I've been a few times for drinks, this time for food and I would certainly visit again. Mains; Corn fed chicken wrapped in ham very lovely and came recommend by the staff. Dessert; sticky toffee pudding, Ive had better. It needed more custard and/or a toffee sauce. Service was nice but some room for improvement. I wish them every success. I look forward to returning.

Have it a try to celebrate with my family. The service was good but the food could have been better. The starter sharing platter was very good and nicely presented. For the mains, one dish had too much mash on it, the steak was poorly cooked.
The bar looks good and their drinks menu looked interesting. Maybe a place that is better for drinks in future.

Nine B is a beautiful restaurant.
We had the set Valentines Menu which was £60 per couple. We decided to visit on the Sunday so the Valentines menu being available was a nice touch.
Food was good, as was the service. We did a while for our drinks to arrive, but we put this down to how busy it was and it definitely did not put a downer on out time there.
We will back to celebrate our special occasion’s as a family.

My partner and I visited on Valentines evening after being recommended Nine B by our friends.
We saw the set menu online and thought with the included drink it was worth a try and we were not disappointed at all.
The food overall was spot on. The duck main was our stand out dish.
Although service wasn’t as fast as maybe it would be on other nights (it was quite busy), it actually made for quite a nice relaxed evening.
The cocktails were great and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
