This is our go to spot for halal Chinese food in leicester. The food is always delicious and the staff are lovely. Definitely recommend the chilli chicken, hand pulled noodles and Steamed chicken dumplings. A must try if in the area!
This elegant family friendly gem conveniently located across the road from the train station serves authentic Uyghur cuisine. We tried the big plate chicken, fried noodle, vegan tofu, lamb kebab, lamb ribs and their famous king prawn. The food was so good, we emptied all...the plates, which says a lot about the quality and taste. My six year old boy said 'dady, could we eat here everyday' on the way back to London. That sums up our experience. We highly recommend this place.More
The food was absolutely incredible as was the service. We had the salt and pepper prawns, deep fried chilli chicken, chicken chow mein and crispy chicken pancakes with plum sauce. Absolutely delicious and could not recommend this anymore, I’d drive back to Leicester just to...have this food again. The price was very reasonable, don’t walk run to this delicious establishment:)More
Spent a lovely evening there 15/7/23. Food was exceptional. Flavours perfectly balanced. Staff lovely and attentive
The food here is lovely but just wanted to note the allergy awareness. The menu has very scant information and I ended up on their website trying to find out what the dishes were. When the waiter came back I checked if my chosen dish...was suitable, he said ‘no’, and that none of the noodle dishes would be suitable. He then said that actually he wasn’t sure because he couldn’t read the ingredients. I thought the noodles were hand made so the chefs should have known what was in them. It may be that we had an inexperienced waiter, but between him and the chefs someone really should know or be able to find out what’s in the food even if they didn’t make the specific item themselves. The waiter did point me in the direction of food he was confident I could eat, and I’d always prefer them to be over cautious, however if you have any kind of restricted diet beyond vegetarian then I suggest calling in advance to make sure they can cater for you. I was asking for dairy free which I never normally have any issue with as it’s such a common allergen and non-vegan, so anything more unusual might prove hard to cater to here. That said, the dish I did have was really good and if it wasn’t for the lack of allergy awareness I’d eat here again. If you don’t need a special diet definitely worth a visit.More
Took my wife out for a special dinner to celebrate her final qualifications, and it was a great evening for the event! Excellent food & service, would highly recommend
This restaurant is by far my favourite restaurant in Leicester! I eat here very often and the quality and taste is always exceptional and seasoned perfectly. The lamb kebab skewers, salt and chilli chicken, lamb chops and king prawns, and fried noodles are so delicious....The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity too.More
My husband and I went last night for dinner and the decor was amazing and spacious place. The waiter was attentive and portions are generous. However, the taste was a massive let down. Very limited cutlery on table. All food was very bland, the chips...were undercooked, the lamb skewers were ok, prawn skewers tasted better with the chargrill flavour. Schezwan chicken had a very runny sauce...tasted more like gravy. The chicken in pastry parcels completely dry with no taste. Stir fry rice undercooked. Chicken chow mein tasteless and the chicken was chewy and overcooked. It was more like roasted chicken cut up and warmed up with the noodles again. Food presentation was spot on, but don't be deceived by this. If they only could add some actual Chinese flavour or spices to the food, then it would be a great place to eat. We would not go again.More
Visited here with a group of friends and we really enjoyed our food. We opted for rice and sharing four dishes and had thoroughly enjoyed our food. Will definitely come again.
We often visits the Leicester branch and have never been disappointed, food always on point and portions generous. Glad to have a different take on Chinese cuisine. Tried the London branch, portions were smaller and not as tasty. The crispy lamb chops is a must...whenever we visit.More
Rarely eat Chinese food in Leicester - there are so many good Indian and Italian restaurants. Glad to have found this place though. Never eaten Uighur cuisine before. It is excellent. The chichen with fried bread sounds odd but is really tasty. The lamb skewers...make a great starter. The service was excellent and Happy to help explain and recommend. The restaurant does not serve alcohol which is okay. The jasmine tea was very good. But I'd hope to see more drink choices next time I go.More
They couldn't be more helpful. All the food was delicious especially the Hot & Sour soup. I had lamb skewers and they were very tasty. I shared King Po tofu and salt and pepper tofu and the two home made noodle types. Absolutely delicious. Can't...rate it highly enough. The lemon green tea was also very refreshing. I can't rate it highly enough. Try it!More
Exceptionally good food, great service and a nice environment. Many Chinese customers, which I think is a good guarantee of authentiticty and quality. Big portions and very reasonable prices for what we ate.
My family and I travelled to Leicester for my son's graduation and found Karamay during our evening walk. We had a great first experience of Uyghur Cuisine. The meals were delicious and like nothing that I'd ever tasted before, with the lamb skewers being my...personal favourite. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!More
