Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A rather bizarre lunch with a one-man chef and service in a 1970s environment. The food was mediocre and service even worse. The bill was even more surprisingly low and somewhat justified the other shortcomings. An interesting experience, but not to be repeated.

What an absolute find! I wasnt sure at first as the sign/menus outside looked a bit old and worn then you go up some stairs with hand written notes and signs eveywhere but you soon realise this is all part of the absolite charm of...this hidden gem. Imagine a traditional 70s style restaurant/ living room but with an eclectic range of quirky decor. We got talking to Victor who is a one man show. What a lovley character. He is an award winning chef which shows in his food. It was delicious. Home made broth is not something i would EVER chose to order but it was part of the set menu we picked and i cant explain how out of the world it was! I then had a serloin steak with creamy mushroom sauce and sides, folllowed by a fruity meraguine dessert. Everything is ooked from scratch and to perfection. My husband also had a three course meal and with drinks, the bill was £25 !! And silver service!! Victor recomends booking as he can only accept a few guests at anyone time. He did say its not because he cant handle a lot of peole, its his stove that cant! Love him! Without a doubt, we will be recomending and returning to eat and Crust, a breath of fresh air from all the high street chain restaurants!More

Excellent. Very tasty , freshly cooked food. It was such a nice change to go somewhere different that wasn't a soulless chain restaurant. The service is excellent and friendly and thr food was superb. You probably need to book as it's a small operation.

The restaurant is hard to notice. A door on the high street that can be easily missed. A steep staircase takes you up to the restaurant which, when you see it is amazing!! An extensive menu with a lot of choice. Lovely home cooked food...by a trained chef. The food was delicious and a lot of it. It does take a little time as the food is freshly cooked for you and then served Silver service by the owner and chef who is a delight. It was quiet in the restaurant, which is a pity as people are missing a treat. Very, very reasonable price. A 3 course meal with coffee or tea is cheaper than a burger in some restaurant chains. It really does make a change to have delicious home made food, and not the usual greasy burger rubbish you mostly get nowadays. Stairs are a bit steep upto the loo.More

A totally unique experience from the “hidden” entrance on the street to the 1980s’ prices. Yes, the decor is not to everyone’s taste (I’ve read some unkind reviews) but no-ones’s going to be there for more than a couple of hours. Focus on the food!...Victor purchases (very locally) the ingredients, prepares, cooks and serves everything on his own (and spends Sunday washing and ironing the linen!) Every course we ate was freshly prepared and delicious. After the meal, Victor left the kitchen and chatted to us and the other guests. (Those reviewers who complain about an “empty” restaurant fail to say Victor never takes more than 8 covers per evening). The prices have to be seen to be believed. Go with an open mind and just enjoy the unique experience!More

I have lived in Lincoln for 8 years now and can not believe I did not find this place sooner. The food, atmosphere and owner was lovely. The place is very unique with its decor so many things to look at. The owner cooked the...food and served it himself, you can tell he really has a passion for cooking. The menu has many options very old school food. There is so many set menus where you can have 3 courses for £20. The owner even noticed that it was my birthday and gave me a birthday card and took a picture of me and my friend. I will definitely be returning and taking my family when they come to visit Lincoln.More

Well what can I say, when you walk in you may think you have made a mistake as it looks like it is stuck in a time warp but trust me it is a great hidden gem. My wife and I popped in before we...went to the theatre for a light lunch, Victor greeted us and showed us to a table near the window, surprisingly Victor is the only person in the restaurant and he is Front of House, Barman, Waiter and Chef!!! We ordered our food and sat with our drinks and waited for our food, my Wife ordered the Lamb Cutlets and I ordered the Centurion Grill, considering Victor was doing everything the food arrived in good time (about 20 minutes) and all Silver Service from Victor, Great quality. Cost....... a little over £20!! Amazing find for us and we will go back every time we want food in Lincoln. Yes, the place could do with updating but I think that would take away the charm, take some time to look around at the pictures and news clippings on the wall, this guys pride is everywhere and it also reflects in his food.More

He made us all feel at home and we also got a few stories of Mr Vs past which added to...a very enjoyable evening. This kind of service is hard to find nowadays. We have used the Crust for several years and always had a First Class meal. I would Highly Recommend the Crust for your next meal out. Regards to you AllMore
