Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This super restaurant was recommended by our B&B, the Red House, Whisby. It was so good we went 2 evenings out of our 4 day break to Lincolnshire! The menu was so varied you could eat for a week there and choose something different each...night! It was very welcoming, the service & value/quality of the food was excellent.More

You can tell a superbly run pub restaurant when, at peak periods like Mother’s Day, the service operates in exactly the same way. A warm welcome, shown to seats, orders taken and executed accurately, food of the highest standard, delivered piping hot. What a team!...Every main course and every dessert plate went back empty. Few places are able to achieve this level of excellence and handle such busy-ness so calmly. 👏👏👏More

The Generous Briton is consistently and outstandingly good in regard of both food and service. I have been eating there for years, and have NEVER had a bad experience, even when they are really busy, which is often, (best to reserve a table to avoid...disappointment). The menu is varied and has something to offer for every taste/diet. Today, I chose smoked cod and broccoli pancake in cheese sauce which was fabulous. My sister went for the belly pork which was also fabulous. The crackling was crunchy without breaking ones teeth, perfectly cooked and presented. I wish we had remembered to take photos I highly recommend a visit.More

The Generous Briton is a lovely traditional country pub. We visited for Sunday Lunch. The interior is charming and well decorated, with beamed ceilings and jacquard curtains on the windows. There are two outside seating areas, one covered, and parking at the side. The service...was excellent, food was hot and the food faultless. Would definitely dine here again.More

It is so easy to recommend The Generous Briton based on many meals that we have enjoyed here over recent months. The food at lunch has been consistently excellent with the service and atmosphere being equally great.. A favourite place for lunch..

Our first visit here and can’t wait to come back. I’m a little biased towards game as I pick up with my gundog during the season. But three game dishes to choose from?! Unheard of. I opted for the ballotine of pheasant with cranberry stuffing,...wrapped in bacon and served with the most delicious red wine sauce. Creamy mash and three veg came with the dish for a ridiculous £14. Incredible value. It was the best pub meal I’ve had in years and was better than a Christmas dinner. The waiter said that game’s most likely on the menu until mid to late February so we’re definitely coming back, despite the hour’s drive. Oh yes, my wife lived her home made suet pudding. I can’t recall enjoying a pub meal as much as this. Great service throughout, a warm welcome but the chef wins the day for turning out food like this. 👏👏👏More

Wonderful food, attentive staff and excellent service. A group of six friends out for a meal Drinks ordered and delivered on arrival. Lots of choice on the menu and five specials to choose from. Homemade steak pie, three chicken dishes and two of party had...partridge , all beautifully served, piping hot and very tasty. Lovely chips and fresh vegetables. Everybody left clean plates. All mains priced about £14-£17. No room for dessert as we were moving on. Have eaten here in the past and never been disappointed. Certainly don’t recognise the last reviewers comments.More

Unfortunately not great. Numerous examples of poor customer service/ rude or lacking in attentiveness attitude outweighed good examples of swift service for food & drinks. Food was good / as expected for the price. Very disappointed considering other good reviews which don’t sit well with...our experience. Won’t visit again, sorry.More
