Nice but expensive

My family and I visited here for my son’s 18th birthday and it’s the first time we have visited. The menu is fairly extensive and all of the items on it sound extremely tasty. The food is good however this is tempered slightly by the price, which in my opinion is on the steep side.The portion size is are also not what you may imagine from an American style smokehouse nice enough place piece of food but probably too expensive for us to visit again when they are plenty of other places that we have not yet tried.

Great service

We were warmly greeted by the manager Naim, he was so good at his job, very attentive, friendly, chatty and gave everyone a personal experience. We had cherry bakewell cocktails which were delicious and refreshing. For our food we ordered chicken skewers and an filthy bird burger, the portions were big and we left feeling full and happy. Thank you Naim, this is the best service I've received for a long time.

Decent food

This was our first time at huckleberry’s while visiting Lincoln and overall I have very few complaints. Despite being short staffed, the staff here were friendly and helpful and we appreciated their honesty regarding menu items not available and about the obvious wait for service. The meat on offer here is of a high standard, although the trimmings slightly less so. The steak I had was as good as steak gets so if that’s your thing, you’ll enjoy eating here. It isn’t cheap, but locally sourced, good quality meat isn’t cheap so that is to be expected. Unfortunately the atmosphere/ambience of Huckleberry’s is spoiled by the appalling choice of music they insisted on playing. This is a small complaint and shouldn’t put you off visiting this restaurant, but as a 38 year old man I can absolutely assure you that I have no interest in listening to the likes of the backstreet boys and Taylor Swift as I am not a twelve year old girl. That music was specifically written for and marketed directly to actual children, so why do people insist on playing it in restaurants? All told though, this is a minor complaint and I would recommend visiting Huckleberry’s if you’re into steaks and similar food. Absolutely no point bringing even a vegetarian here though, never mind a vegan, so don’t bother with that.

Bad experience

On arrival we were seared and after 15 minutes I hadto ask for some drinks The starters were served they were very nice The mains and sides were served My garlic mushrooms were not at all garlicky the burger I ordered was served as a double not a single as ordered The Waffles were so very dry We asked for the bill then 15 minutes later had to ask again and then a third time I was charged for a double burger I did not order and on top if that there was a service charge We were very disappointed and will probably not re turn to the establishment Very disappointed customers 😒

I went here with my boyfriend on a Saturday. We arrived there at 14;00 and was told if we could come back at 15:00 instead. This was fine and we left and went back at 15:00, we were sat at a table which was in an awkward place. The table felt too low for the chairs. We were then approached by the waitress to ask if we knew what we wanted to order for food as the kitchen was closing at 15:00, it must have been 1 minute, not even having chance to look at the full menu. We were confused considering the manager had told us to come back at 15:00… booked a table with her to then be told the kitchen is closing at 15:00 and they wanted our order so we didn’t need to wait another 45 minutes for the kitchen to reopen. We ordered food feeling very rushed. The food came out fast, my boyfriend ordered a large plate of food however it came and I was shocked at the portion for the price!!! I wouldn’t want to see what the small plate would look like. The waitress was nice and friendly and you could tell the manager was putting pressure on her to get our order etc. We also was confused why all the food came out on slates… not sure if they just didn’t want to wash plates. We would not be returning as it was not an enjoyable meal, food was expensive for the portion. Utterly disappointed! Don’t bother going!

Not as good as it was

We've been here quite a few times and were disappointed. The servings seem smaller than they were and the feeling we had is that they're cutting costs. They don't do steaks at all now and haven't for a while. My better half had a hot dog and, although it looked a generous size, the actual hot dog itself wasn't. The 'large' 32 hr brisket was not large. I can't eat a lot in one sitting and I managed it easily. I paid £2 for fries and slaw to go with it - fries were ok but the portion of slaw was very small. The beef came with red pepper that in truth could only be called a garnish and two small pieces of flatbread. (Not whole or even half flatbreads). You should pay properly for meat I think, after all, animals have died, but the distinct feeling we both had here is that they're trying to cut costs. The staff are always good and always knowledgeable about the food (the waitress advised me not to order the small brisket). There's plenty of room between tables and the entrance and front of the pub is on the level although as you go further in there's raised areas.

Our brisket hasn't changed in size at all, it is measured by weight so sometimes may look smaller or larger but it is always the same weight. As for the steaks, due to supply chain issues we are unable to guarantee the same quality of steak as we had before - and we will not sacrifice on our quality. A midweek treat for our family. A little quiet but that didn’t stop us receiving attentive service delivering delicious food. A great evening was had & we all agreed this venue was highly recommended for a return visit.

Excellent Meal as Always

I have been coming here for several years now, and I have never had a bad experience. The food is excellent value, not sacrificing either quality or quantity, and the range of options for anyone eating gluten-free is fantastic. Shared a starter between three, then had the smaller portions from the meat shack section of the menu to make room for some sides as well. We all left completely satisfied. I forget the name of the waiter, but they were completely lovely and the owner/manager was friendly as always.

Appalling

Came all the way from Grimsby with my partner. Not only was the food cold but they also forgot half of it. The nachos had a table spoon of dressing on them which was not value for money whatsoever. I asked for no coleslaw as I am allergic and the woman proceeded to bring it out on my plate. Lets hope none of it touched my other food or I’ll be taking this further. I will not be coming again.

Warm Food

Was looking forward to visiting this establishment however it was a disappointing visit. We had 3 starters to share followed by ribs for the main course. There was a wait for the food and when it arrived it was only warm. Nobody asked how the meal was and we ate what we could, left half of the meal, paid and left. Unfortunately will not be returning.

We stayed for 1 night with our dog. We loved it, the room was great, lovely, big and airy. The food was delicious and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and the dog even got his own burger. Nathaniel, Keris and Amelia make a superb team. We woll be back

We booked up during a brief stay in Lincoln, mainly as it was around the corner from our hotel. I have eaten a lot of barbecue food both in the UK and the US, and this restaurant has served up some of the best I have had. The ribs we ate had just come out of the oven after 18 hours, and the meat fell off the bone. The meal and service was so good, we decided to book again for the next night. We couldn't resist more ribs, but just shared half a rack to start, choosing beef brisket and salmon for our mains. Beef brisket is hard to get right, but here they cook it for 33 hours, and it literally melted in my mouth. It's probably the nicest beef brisket I have ever had! The restaurant does have handicapped facilities. If in a wheelchair, there is a ramp available at the back, and there is an accessible toilet too.

Friendly, delicious, great value and dog friendly

The manager was super friendly and had a lovely chat and you can tell he genuinely cares for his customers and his staff. All the staff were really friendly and attentive. They even provided a free doggy meal for our pooch which was lovely and a water bowl. The food was incredible and fantastic value with great bbq food. Brisket was so tender and delicious. My mums chicken burger was huge and really tasty. Cajun fries had a little kick and were crisp and hot and tasty. My old fashioned cocktail was really well made. Place was clean and tidy with a great selection of food and the desserts looked really good but didn’t have one. The milkshakes are super nice too. Will definitely be back next time we are in Lincoln. Thanks very much for everything 😊

One of the best in town

Visited with family for dinner and all 4 of us left satisfied and happy! From beginning to end, service and food were pretty great. Friendly hostess greeted us at the entrance and sat us promptly. Our servers were very friendly and efficient, and it was obvious they had received good training (introducing themselves and double checking orders) which is something that is frequently missing from other restaurants. One of the girls was on her first day and was great. Food was delicious, we ordered a variety as everything looked amazing on the menu! Everything arrived on time, hot and as ordered. A couple of minor things we noted regarding the food was that we would have liked a bit more coleslaw in our side buckets, and perhaps it could be included in the price of the babyback ribs? Upwards of £20 for that dish I think some chips and slaw could go with it without having to add it as extra. Overall very impressed and happy with our visit, we will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu!

Expensive for what you get on most dishes.

7 of is ate at this restaurant, we had different foods. I had the filthy bird burger which was nice and a good size portion, 2 others had burgers and they were okay sizes too. However, the beef brisket and a pulled pork dish came put and they were tiny servings, even though they were supposed to be large. When brought out though, the waiter did say small brisket, this was questioned and she said it must be a large as that is what was ordered, not very filling at all and I think the price was over £16, we had to pay extra for fries as not included with this meal. Menu wqs misleading when it says have as much meat as you can eat. This actually meaning have as much .eat as you like but you have to order and pay for each portion. Not very good service, had one drink when we first got there and not asked if we would like any more. Staff were hovering whilst we were eating to see if we had finished, then once everyone had finished, there was no staff to be seen for at least 10 minutes when we had to go over and asked for the bill.
