Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After a day of working fro home, I closed the laptop, jumped into the roadster and drove along the M62 to Liverpool for dinner. I booked online for 7.15pm at Wreck Bistro. I arrived at the restaurant a little early at just before 7pm but...the team were extremely welcoming and sat me down. The space is well formed, not small but intimate and I reckon about 28-covers. The atmosphere was great; music playlist was on point, the ambience in the room was balanced, lighting was just right for the time of night, and the temperature was cosy when looking out on a wet and cold Liverpool night The place started to fill up shortly after I arrived and there was a good crowd for a wintry Tuesday night. A nice size for a bistro in my opinion. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu, and able to advise on good matches between the courses. Dinner was divine. A bargain at just under £75 for an appetizer, three courses, a bottle of still water, glass of wine, and a flat white. My favourite dish was the appetizer of Medjool dates wrapped in bacon... I'll be trying that at home. Menu below. Medjool dates wrapped in smoked bacon, roasted with honey. Truffled Jerusalem artichoke, and Welsh rarebit on brioche toast; pear and horseradish relish. Slow-braised venison; venison sausage, celeriac puree, smoked bacon, baby onions and parsley. Elite Bistros Christmas pudding; brandy sauce, orange marmalade. An enjoyable Tuesday night out.More

Stumbled upon this place while out walking, checked the reviews and booked our anniversary meal on the strength of the reviews. Service, ambience &, most importantly, food, all excellent. They even gave us a complimentary anniversary themed chocolate dessert. Would thoroughly recommend.

We had a really beautiful dinner in this welcoming and friendly restaurant in Liverpool city centre. The menu has a really interesting and tempting selection, which made our choice of dishes a pleasantly difficult one! Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly and the service was...absolutely top class. We had a really lovely evening will definitely look to return when we’re next in the area.More

Booked at short notice. Had the most wonderful Sunday lunch. Roast beef perfectly cooked with all the trimmings. Sticky toffee pudding to follow that was as light as a feather. Highly recommend

Will definitely be heading back to Wreckfish following a fantastic dinner. Every member of the team was fantastic, the atmosphere welcoming and the menu offered a great variety - the confit duck in particular was delicious. I look forward to my next visit and hope...to try the breakfast menu soon! Thank you Wreckfish!More

Amazing food, great atmosphere and service. Had the private dining room for a 40th birthday celebration for 12 people. The food was incredible and we had a fabulous evening, we're so thankful to all the staff who helped make such special memories for us, special...shout out to Amanda for being so attentive I've been coming here for years now and it's definitely the place to go when you want to treat yourself. It is more pricey than other places but you definitely see a big difference in the quality of the food. The vegetarian options always sound underwhelming but they always blow me away and I don't think there's a better roast in Liverpool. Great placeMore

10/10 for a great experience. Lovely simple decor with open kitchen. Friendly greeting and prompt service. Gorgeous food, fab value at £25 for two courses or £28 for three on the set menu. As a dining experience it was faultless, great value and a pleasure.

Great start to our culinary experience in Liverpool. Intimate small restaurant with friendly service. No loud music and lighting was set correctly to my taste, which is not too bright. Food was great, creme brûlée needs to be ordered as was perfect. Highly recommend.

Went with my wife to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. And my god!! What a splendid little place... Hidden gem on Seel Street. The food is to die for! I recommend the pie starter and and just about any aged steak they have on the...menu. (I went for the Tomohawk) But everything was perfection... even down to the lighting, the room temperature and the magnificent service from Evei Will definitely return! 10/10More

Had researched good sunday dinners in Liverpool and Wreckfish was recommended. It really lives up to the billing. We enjoyed the full three courses including beef for the main course. All the food was top notch as was the service and general feel. Perfect portion...size and mix of flavours. Fantastic three course experience - would definitely return and recommend.More

I don't usually leave bad reviews but felt I had to for the price of it here and the way its marketed to be top chefs. I had the wreckfish for main which was just a piece of fish in a tomato sauce that tasted...a bit like a thick tomato soup, it came with a few very bland boiled potatoes, no seasoning at all or anything. It was just a very plain boring tasting dish with a fancy presentation. My partner got the flat iron steak which is the only choice unless you both get steak on the sirloin for 2 option. Again presented very nicely but wow I've never tasted steak so chewy in a long time. It was like rubber and obviously a very cheap cut of steak. It was cut into strips and laid out very nicely but I think the chef needs to actually taste it. The chips that came with it were nice though. We got creme brulees for dessert. Again disappointed. Normally a creme brulee before it is served has brown sugar applied to the top and then grilled or blowtorched to caramelise it and it comes with a nice warm hard but sticky top and the custard beneath is a bit warm too. Well no, the caramelising had clearly been done that morning as it was hard on the top but it was all just cold as it had been just pulled out of the fridge and served to us. Lazy chefs.More

Having read about the start-up of Wreckfish in 2017 and some of the recent reviews on Tripadvisor we saved a visit here as a treat for our last evening in Liverpool. The dining room is spacious with plenty of room between the tables. The service...was friendly and efficient. But the food was a great disappointment. We'd been expecting to be wowed by flavours and the ingenuity of the cooking. Alas though all three courses on the £27 fixed price menu were no more interesting than a competent amateur cook could produce.More
