Lunch with friends today , welcomed by very nice staff , were given plenty of time to study the menu , order taken , waited rather a long time for food to arrive, but when it did it was absolutely delicious , I had teriyaki salmon with noodles , spicy and lovely , one friend had whole sea bass which was huge, another , fish cakes and the other had buttermilk chicken , each one said their meal was delicious. It is a well priced and varied menu to suit all tastes .The restaurant doesn’t have loud music playing thank goodness, the staff are professional , polite and attentive without being overbearing .Served with the sea bass was a couple of slices of garlic bread which were overcooked and quite hard , she mentioned it just as a note for future reference and at the end of the meal was presented with a complimentary slice of cheesecake which was a lovely touch. I would wholeheartedly recommend Aquapod and will certainly be visiting there again

A must when visiting Liverpool

Initially booked the Aquapod as we were celebrating an anniversary and thought this time visiting Liverpool we would go to a fish restaurant. The night before I considered changing my mind only because looking on Trip adviser there were a lot of photos of the sharing platters and it wasn’t something I really fancied. However we decided to go, I’m so glad we did, we had a few starters to share between us because we couldn’t decide all beautifully cooked and visually arranged. The food was absolutely amazing it was so good we delayed taking our train the next day and went back for a 2nd meal, Not disappointed a fab dining experience, and a most attentive host her served us nothing was too much trouble for him. Thank you we will be back.

New Years Eve delight

This was our first visit but won't be the last. Lovely food and big portions-humous starter was really tasty and we actually brought some back with us, there was so much. We both ordered fish dishes tuna ( which I preferred more cooked but that's my choice and the waitress sorted it out very quickly and sea bass which my husband loved. Really delicious and the restaurant looked really inviting and attractive. really good staff no complaints at all .Thankyou for a lovely meal on New Years Eve

Came for my daughters birthday she had seen a lobster dish with new potatoes and seasonal veg online a few days before. They didn’t have it. Asked to speak to the chef to sea if he could make it the waitress returned and asked her to choose another one. She chose the steak when it came it looked like pieces of beef cut off a joint with 2 lettuce leaves and chips her partner chose a cheese burger with extra cheese when it arrived it had 1 slice of cheese and what looked like mayo when we asked what it was the waitress whose English wasn’t good said she would go ask it was a soft cheese like primula. ??? It came with chips no side salad! Unfortunately we will not go back.

Looked and sounded good Arrive after we had booked a table, they set table up for us when we arrived Drinks ordered then meals ordered. We ordered a surf and turf platter for 4, which included potato wedges and vegetables. These were missing so we asked waitress, she said she would arrange for some to be made, we had practically finished before they came out, also due to there being seafood, crab etc, there was no finger bowl offered, again, l had to ask, no extra serviettes were offered Service is slow and they are not very attentive Food is good, hopefully service will improve

AWFUL .. no sea food Jan 6 th

No crab or lobster , we had come especially for crab We were an early evening booking. We told the waiter we’d come especially for the crab and were very disssppointed the waiter came back and said they’d had a delivery. What arrived were the tiniest claws/ no body and no wider than my fingertips. . I felt they’d been dragged from somewhere. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a great aquarium . Can’t rate this place higher than a 1 for its lack of sea food.Tge £60 platter was filled with what didn’t seem fresh ingredients at all ( with exception of the whole fish) great concept, awful execution. We did express our feelings to the staff who were very sympathetic to our views. Staff were nice but I was left very suspicious as to where the crab legs had been pulled from. These were good for discarding.

I had a very horrible experience on Saturday at Aquapod restaurant came here on evening Saturday which restaurant was completely empty we waited 15 minutes to sit down.the waiter came after few minutes to take our drink order we said give us few minutes and he said straight ways would you like some wins!!!!!!!!!! we ordered our drink in rush but arrived 15 minutes later for two coca cola and one pint of beer, our main arrived quickly look beautiful but texture was very salty and dry service was below average no one asked us how was the food,we left our food half way. we asked for the bill which we were charged 15% gratuity on top of the bill as welll i denied to pay it which i got frowning face from waiter sorry we are not paying tips for horrible service and average food we never come back again

Wrong, wrong wrong

We booked for 4 of us, after a couple in our party had seen the restaurant the week before and after reading TA reviews and their apparent emphasis on “FRESH” fish. We were dreadfully disappointed, and “fresh” would be the exception rather than the rule if at all. We arrived on time and were shown to the bar to have drinks whilst we waited for our table, when we saw a couple leave before ordering after they’d checked out the menu. The bar had run out of their draught Italian lager. Wine menu was very limited and very expensive. They didn’t have our first choice of white wine. They didn’t have a second bottle of our next choice and could only offer other inferior wines (that were not on the menu). They didn’t’ t have our choice of red offering us Beefsteak merlot instead (less than £5/btl retail). Two of us ordered mussels, one in a curry sauce the other white wine etc. Both were dreadful. Dry, tough and very clearly not ”fresh”. One of had calamari, which was very obviously frozen, even though they denied this when we asked. The last of our party chose tuna tartare which was OK. Our main courses were a whole cooked lobster, monkfish in a curry sauce, sea bass, and lamb chops (requested rare/pink). Lobster came with a cheap and nasty pair of nut crackers that made cracking the claws very difficult, otherwise just OK, as was the curried monkfish. The sea bass was, again, very obviously frozen and was dry, grey and tasteless. The lamb chops were covered in a spicy coating and were served well done (not rare/pink) and as a consequence were returned to the kitchen. They offered to prepare another portion but we declined for the usual reasons, and we decided not to chance a dessert. Throughout the meal, after placing orders for water and wine, we repeatedly had to wait and then remind waiting staff to bring these, even though the restaurant by this time was only 1/2 full or less. Nonetheless, staff were always polite and apologetic and did not charge us for the mussels, lamb chops, or red wine, but we felt this was more in an attempt to dissuade us from writing a review of our experiences. We will certainly not be returning. Pity!

Not as nice as expected

I had high hopes for this restaurant which we went to for my daughters birthday, but was concerned when I walked in that every other restaurant on bold street was packed to the point there were queues down the street and this restaurant only had 2 people in it. I wondered what other people knew that we didn’t. The food was hit and miss. Child’s meal was fine, can’t go wrong with nuggets. The pasta dish was lovely, unfortunately my daughters burger was disgusting to the point of being inedible. As she picked it up a load of grease poured out of it all down her dress. Within a minute the sopping wet bun had completely disintegrated leaving a sloppy pile of meat and bread on her plate. She ended up sharing bits of our meals instead as it wasn’t salvageable. We ordered the lobster platter and it was disgusting. I was a bass and shellfish fisherman for 20 years and can only imagine that the people leaving good reviews for their fish have not had fresh seafood before. Couldn’t get into the meat due to the tiny crackers provided so most of the lobster and crab remained uneaten. The sea bass was beyond fresh that it was on the turn, I couldn’t have sold that even at the fish market. And the squid was clearly frozen and then overcooked. Not worth the £80 we were charged as we left most of it. The drinks were nice (though extremely slow coming out considering the restaurant was empty), and the waitress was lovely. But I was left with a sour taste in my mouth upon paying the bill. I’m not tight and was planning on leaving a 15% tip despite one of the meals and most of an extremely expensive platter being inedible, but when presented with the card reader I was informed by the waitress to pick one of the options before paying, and was handed the card reader which had a number of different tip options I had to choose before I paid, the smallest being 25%. I chose the smallest which cost me another £33 on top of my bill which annoyed me after being stung for inedible food amounting to £130 which I almost sent back, but decided to put down as a bad experience. I left the restaurant hungrier than I went in. Will not be going back which is a shame as we love seafood.

We are really sorry for a bad experience. It is our policy to ask if you liked the food or not and if you had problems with it we would happily replace it. The same was asked to you and you said that you liked the food and had no complaints. Your bill was £169 out of which desserts were £ 16.85 and your drinks were £53.65. Coming to the tips part, it is always said that the tips are optional and there is an option to skip as well. You chose the 15% tip option which amounted to £25.48 and not the 25% that you claim to have paid. The 15% is the lowest and there is a custom tip option as well. You were for sure not forced to pay any tips and we will be happy to return that amount to you. Again, we are really sorry for your experience not being nice here. We would love to host you again and give you a good experience.

Long wait for food which was average so disappointed overall. Doubt I’d go back.

Lovely decor, polite staff took an order very quickly, drinks arrived but then an incredibly long wait (45 mins) for average food in a quite empty restaurant (& 3 chefs in the kitchen) so disappointed. Mussels were ok but the sauce (usually creamy garlic & white wine but advertised as garlic here) was very thick as if made with a flour based roux. Tasty but unpleasant thick texture. Thick cut chips were very good though. Husband had fish, chips, mushy peas & gravy. Gravy was very thick, peas had to be asked for even though on the menu & the fish batter was extremely thick & hard. Again, chips were done well. The seafood platters coming out to other diners looked good but quite pricy so we didn’t try those. Summary: average food for the dishes we chose & very slow service.

Four of us had booked for dinner Saturday evening. We’d booked as we all love fish, and the restaurant apparently prides itself on only using fresh produce, but we didn't think any of the items we ate were fresh. Mussels were dreadful and were obviously not fresh, the same with the calamari. The tuna tartare was just OK as was the lobster and monkfish. The sea bass was abysmal - dry, grey and tastless. My lamb chops were ordered pink but came well-done and were sent back. The lobster cracker were cheap and nasty and did not make getting at the claw meat easy at all. Continuous reminders for water and wine we'd order were just frustrating even though the restaurant was quiet. They had run out of their draught Menabrea lager. Wine menu offered very little choice and was expensive for the quality of wine on offer. Peculiarly, they didn’t have our first choice of white or our red. Instead they kept offering us cheaper offerings such as some proprietary merlot that was not even on the menu and they didn’t have a second bottle of our choice of white wine. The waiting staff however, were very polite and apologetic. Ultimately, they did not charge us for some of our dishes or the bottle of red but this seemed to be just to assuage our obvious disappointment and to limit the chances of us submitting a review.

Amazing meal

Me and my partner came her for dinner. It was a Monday night so the restaurant wasn’t overly busy, however there was still a nice atmosphere and the decorations were lovely. We ordered the grilled mixed seafood platter which tasted amazing and was great value for money. The highlight of our dinner was the sea bass, it was so soft and full of flavour. Service was also amazing, Rose served us and she was very attentive, however all the other staff we came into contact with were just as lovely. I requested a cocktail which wasn’t on their menu and they were more than happy to make it for me. We will 100% be returning and this is definitely going to be our go to restaurant whenever we are in Liverpool now. We can’t wait to go back and try the seafood platter with lobster next time!

Birthday meal

Absolutely stellar experience at Aquapod in Liverpool! The lobster Thermidor was a sublime blend of rich, creamy flavors, perfectly complemented by the delicate taste of the lobster. The seafood platter was an absolute feast for the senses, featuring an array of the freshest and most succulent seafood. The attention to detail and presentation were impeccable also did a surprise birthday treat for my lady . The hospitality was nothing short of incredible. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about making our dining experience unforgettable. A true gem in Liverpool, Aquapod is a must-visit for any seafood lover. Highly recommended!

Nice seafood - fish and chips

I tried this restaurant because of the positive feedback that I got from trip advisor and Google maps. I tried the fish and chips and it was very good taste. It was also a big portion The fish was crispy and good, and the fried potatoes were big and well fried. It is recommended 👌

My compliments to the chef!

I found this restaurant on Google after travelling up from London and was extremally pleased with my choice. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and comfortable. The waitress was very polite and professional and gave a good service considering that the service charge was optional. The food itself was absolutely lovely. We had the crayfish salad, seafood linguini and teriyaki salmon Everything was incredibly well cooked, well put together and well presented, especially considering the price. Our deserts were clearly made on the premises as opposed to being defrosted. I thought the chef showed excellent skills. Overall very good value for money. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Liverpool.
