Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Another great meal at Caveau. We visited on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was beautifully bedecked and Christmassy . The food was excellent - scallops starter divine, beef fillet almost as good and the chocolate mousse and coffee cream delicious! I think a potato dauphinois would've...been a better potato side (which they've served previously) than the hasselback (I think) potatoes served , but the meal overall was lovely and a perfect start to the Christmas celebrations .More

Visited this local French restaurant for the first time with some girlfriends. The food was really delicious although portion sizes were a little on the small side. However, everything was freshly cooked and really well made. Haven’t given it 5 stars as service was on...the slow side however, this may have been due to the restaurant being fully booked.More

Absolute (hidden) gem of a French restaurant in lovely Woolton village. The atmosphere is spot on, warm and welcoming and the restaurant is really lovely inside. Modern , classic interior but not stuffy. Food is delicious. I had scallops and loin of lamb served with...potato dauphinois and broccoli (unlike other restaurants you don’t have to order sides separately although extra options are offered, if desired ). The scallops were simply divine and the lamb was almost as good. Didn’t have room for dessert but they sounded equally appealing. Good wine list too. Service is unhurried - just right. A really enjoyable meal and we have already booked a return visit for Christmas Eve.More

Elegant service and food. Lucky to have this independent in Liverpool & you must try it! This is not fast food, this is sophisticated & cooked to order so take your time and relax. This is a place to enjoy a fine meal in lovely...surroundings. My partner had two courses from the special menu, I went a la carte. My liver was sublime!!!!!!!!!!! Best I’ve ever had!More

Table booked for 6.30pm and finally got the bill at 2115 having waited 40 mins for our mains to arrive and 55 mins for our desserts. I had venison which came with a single fondant potato, three small pieces at carrot and one piece of...broccoli so not great value for money at £24.95. The sauce was bland but the venison saved the dish. Dessert was crepe Suzette with orange and Grand Marnier sauce but unfortunately the cookie dough ice cream they put on the plate instead of vanilla ruined the flavour which felt like a real let down having waited so long for it. The atmosphere is nice and the staff friendly but it was clear the kitchen was overwhelmed. It feels overpriced for the quality and portion size.More

Had another fantastic meal at Caveau last night - this is just a brilliant restaurant. The food was excellent and they have a great selection of really good wines to choose from - starters of Chicken Liver and the Lobster Ravioli are both to be...highly recommended and the mains of Lamb and the Sea Bass were gorgeous too; all cooked to perfection. The whole ambience of this restaurant is lovely and the staff are attentive without being intrusive, they get it just right. We are very lucky to have this local restaurant. Ryan’s.More
