Had a lovely meal last night here. The food was very nice indeed. The only negative was the lady serving drinks was very miserable and border line rude! Such a shame. We were not greeted very warmly from the get go and the same lady acted as if she just couldn’t be bothered. At the end of the main course instead of asking if we wanted another drink (our glasses were empty for some time...) she just yelled, are you finished, and then just took our plates and glasses away, we were planning on having another drink and desert but just decided to pay and leave instead. It did take the shine off the evening but with the scheme offer we just decided to not make a fuss. The manager / owner was very nice and courteous so credit where it is due.

Thank you for your honesty and feedback. We are currently going through a transition period with staff, so unfortunately whilst training new staff we have to work on fine tuning people skills. We apologise for any rudeness you may have encountered. Once again we appreciate your honesty as it helps us do better and whenever you’re with us again, let us know and you’ll have a round of drinks on me :)

Visiting Liverpool for the weekend and fancied a curry tonight. Looked on Tripadviser for an Indian restaurant close to our hotel and Spice City appeared to be the closes. So pleased we picked Spice City because it was an excellent choice. Would highly recommend this restaurant the staff were very friendly, attentive and the food was delicious. Also they leave the kitchen door open so where we were sitting could see our food being cooked, always a positive.

I have visited the restaurant 3 times now and each time the experience has been fantastic. The staff are always very friendly and helpful in recommending dishes,I usually play it safe but everything I've tried has been great. The Saag balti, Karahi and the Passanda some of the meals I've tried. Food is flavoursome and super fresh, portion size is just right and with the wide range of choice some sharing will occur. Highly recommend Spice City and clearly a hit with others as always nice busy atmosphere when I've visited.

Right in the heart of the city, we love it here. We come as a couple, a family or in a large group and are never disappointed. The food is fab, the service is spot on and we we always receive a warm welcome. It is not well know that there is this great Indian restaurant, right in the city centre, not far from Matthew Street. We love that there is room to sit and enjoy a meal and any background music is subtle so you can enjoy conversation, unlike the lunacy of other local pubs and restaurants where you can't hear yourself think. Last night, there were six of us in our party, with a range of dishes from korma to vindaloo, all delicious and one of us even took a doggy bag. We will be back here very soon, it is very handy for all buses from Sir Thomas Street.

The moment you walk in, you're greeted with an authentic vibe, and we were seen to quickly. Our table, and all the tables around us were completely clean and we were looked after by the helpful, kind staff, as this was the first time we'd been to a sit down Indian in a long time. The food itself was simply outstanding. I had a fish dish (which kept its flavour but broke away effortlessly) with lemon rice. The dish was incredibly well seasoned, and each bite had a punch of flavour. My friend had a chicken vindaloo; and believed it was the most authentic one he has ever had. He also ordered two naan breads, and I can say this with confidence: You will NEVER find a nicer naan than the ones they bake in store here. They are out of this world. For both our meals (2 mains, 2 naan, 1 rice, 1 side, 1 drink) it came to just over £30, which is to be expected from a sit down Indian. However, the quality far exceeds the price threshold. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a boring pallette.

My husband and I had a meal from here about a year ago and it was very poor and the Manager offered us a free meal to apologise, to which the meal was very good. Tonight we went and ordered a meal which cost £33 to which we have to say the meal was so poor it is not worth having food from here again. My husband had a Rogan Josh to which it tasted like a few pieces of lamb and tomato had just been thrown into what seemed like a gravy mix with the slightest hint of a taste of curry (nothing like a Rogan should be). My King Prawn Korma had a good amount of prawns but my plate ended up swimming in liquid from the water that separated from the sauce. We had two portions of Samosas (even though we only ordered one which obviously explains why cost was so high). In all honesty two bites of each Samosa and it was gone. Altogether a very very disappointing meal and a lot of money for something that was worth less than £20.

Visited on a Wednesday evening at 7:30 p m and already there were plenty of diners. The atmosphere was really nice and we were quickly shown to our table. The waitress explained there would be a short wait to take our order as the kitchen was very busy, though our drinks were served straight away. The wait wasn’t at all too long. We ordered starters and mains with side dishes of dhall, rice and chapattis . Of particular merit was the Razzia Piri Piri and also the succulent flavoursome lamb with my mixed grill main. Being in Liverpool for the football match my wife could not resist the Chicken Tikka Mo Salah but we came to the conclusion it was an invention of an Everton supporter. It tasted ok but the tiny bits of chicken in the sauce made it a performance well below what we would have expected from the master. All in all though we had a really nice evening and at £59 including our beers we considered it very good value and we would recommend this restaurant.

Ordered the set meal for 2. Food was delivered to the minute that we specified, it was as hot as could be expected. The poppadoms where very good, crisp and not the slightest bit greasy, the little tubs of pickled where varied and tasty. Our starters and mains where plentiful and very we really enjoyed them. Definitely will order again, and look forward to visiting the restaurant when normal business resumes. Highly recommended.

This was the first Indian restaurant I’ve eaten out in, usually me and my fiancée order in and are happy with our food but it tastes greasy. Tonight we decided to finally go out and try an Indian and we found this place online. What can we say, the service was amazing, including one guy who worked there who was funny and friendly, he told us to try roasted poppadoms as opposed to normal ones and it was a great decision to listen to him they tasted so good and went with our curry’s perfectly. Our starters were hot and looked really appetising (which they were), our main course was served hot and our curries were to our liking (my balti had a hint of spice but not much which I like, the lamb was soft and melted in my mouth and I was easily able to finish it all). Me and my fiancée walked away saying we would definitely eat here again and agreed that it was 10 times better than our usual Indian takeaway which we order. To top it off we got hot wet towels that come in a fresh packet and a chocolate mint with the bill. The guy who took our order gave us an elbow bump on the way out which made us laugh but also made us feel like our visit was appreciated which is something you don’t get anywhere else. We will be coming here again and if anyone is looking for an Indian to eat out, we would recommend this highly!!!

A little ‘old fashioned’ in today’s modern Indian culinary world, both in decor and menu. However I reasonably happy with what I received. The menu itself looked a little ‘tired’ (see picture) but I tried popadom with pickles, tandoori lamb chops starter with main of chicken tikka pepsila (lots on mint, fairly hot) with a kulcha naan. Pickles were ok, shame no fresh made onion salad. Lamb chops were tasty if a little light on the meat. I seemed to have as much left on the plate after I had eaten the chops! Chicken pepsila was VERY minty but tasty, if again a little light on the meat. Naan bread was very crispy. Offered a replacement but accepted as was, which suited me. Lovely. Overall nice food but not outstanding. Menu and restaurant could do with a general update. All looks a little tired. £27 without drink however is not a bad price P.S. music ranged from traditional Indian music to heavy rock Indian music. Rather excellent

We opted for the set dinner menu of popadoms, 2 starters, 2 mains, rice & naan bread + beer and water and it came to about £35 for 2 people. No complaints over the food, tasty curries (good balance of heat/flavour), fresh naan bread etc. Waiters friendly too. Good choice and great value.

Had a meal last night, really enjoyed it. Great food, was absolutely delicious. Used the 50% off deal and got a full meal with wine for £33. Lovely staff, could tell a couple of the girls were possibly new and a little nervous but still provided a good service and made us feel welcome. Felt comfortable with the covid measures and they weren't intrusive or unpleasant, felt like a fairly normal meal out. Highly recommend, a great indian in a convenient location.

Me, my partner and his family have been coming to this restaurant for years and will never go anywhere else for Indian food! We recently went for my birthday and it was the perfect way to top my day off! The quality of the food, the decor, the staff, the price are just the best around. You can not fault this place. Would also like to mention the generosity of this restaurant & Niz the owner, they recently donated so much food to our local hospital’s Infectious Disease wards who are frontline fighting Covid. This was so kind and generous given the current circumstances for businesses, always going above and beyond. Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough!!

My husband and I went last night 11th January. It was so disgusting we just paid and left after one mouth full of the food. Just could not eat it. It was terrible food. Over cooked, not fresh. I could taste a powdered substance on the roof of my mouth. It tasted of chemicals We had never eaten such terrible food. Portions very tiny, not that that mattered. Greasy naan bread. The fat was swimming on the top. Really please do not go. We cook nicer Indian food than these people do. It is scruffy, the staff are scruffy the whole experience is scruffy. The ones who have given high stars must be family members. Listen to the ones like me. We could not even try and eat it to be polite. I reiterated. Please do not go. We had a lovely meal in Gino’s around the corner. Ps. We know good Indian food having travelled to the country for over 30 years. This food is just awful. Poison.

I went to Spice City last night with a few others and we were all truly impressed by how wonderful, friendly, professional and helpful all of the staff were, they're an absolute credit to the hospitality industry! Then the food... Wow! I had the North Indian Garlic with Peshwari Naan and Mushroom Pilau and it couldn't be faulted. Every bite was a taste of heaven, the flavours were incredible and I honestly can't recommend this restaurant enough. Can't wait to go back! :)
