This pub has reopened, which is good but although it should tick all my boxes (traditional pub, real ale) it doesn't. Always feels like walking into a lads club, not particularly welcoming. Go make up your own mind but I'd never stay hee for more than one.

Called in for a pint before heading to Goodison. Friendly service ,good beer and pork pies in a beautiful old pub. Street parking outside. Been quite few times and will continue to call in.

The Lion Tavern is a fantastic pub which is one of the best cask ale pubs and has just recently re-opened after being closed for a couple of months due to a lengthy dispute between Punch Taverns and the publicans who were running this pub.Now re-opened and under new management this excellent pub is doing what it does best'serving first... It's just so nice to see this pub reopened since the dispute between the management of the pub ( The Crossed Keys Pub also effected and also reopened ) and Punch Taverns.. Now under new management the pub is back to normal and bar for a few refurbishments looks as good as ever. The Lion Tavern Pub is outstanding,a three... More

This popular traditional pub is open again. There is a wide selection of real ales always in good condition as well as the traditional pies. The pub gets busy at lunch times and after work. A great atmosphere in one of Liverpools traditional pubs. Welcome back

Had high hopes for the new opening which heralded a new mangement team. We must be only 3 days into their reign and I witnessed the most appalling service. To kick-off proceedings, I was told can't pay by card and when my friend what to draw cash out we waited and waited. There was 3 bar staff but only 1... More

This pub has closed and is being refurbished. I will review it when it reopens. I hope they maintain the traditional decor and fine beers. The range of food was limited but I didn't go there to eat. There are good pubs nearby to eat.

Used to be one of my favourite pubs but the last 3 times I've been it has been very poor, ale not great and the bar staff gave the impression they weren't bothered when we returned our pints. Haven't been back for a few months now. Shame really

This place is very old fashioned but has great ales on offer. The interior could do with updating but it added to its charm. Very local feel and good prices.
