Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I ordered a g/f chocolate orange cake for my birthday to share with friends. My husband is g/f so I’m used to baking g/f cakes and wished I had done just that. The chocolate orange cake looked amazing online, but similar to other’s experience tasted...disgusting. Although the cream hid a lot the shape was broken up and the texture seemed completely uncooked. It was actually watery and resembled nothing like sponge. There was no flavour apart from being left with a strange bitter after taste - certainly not a hint of the promised chocolate or orange. The top was decorated with orange rind (with a thick lining of pith) and was nothing like the pic. Avoid ordering from here at all cost. Don’t spoil your special occasion. I have sent an email of complaint but had no reply. Hugely disappointing.More

Stopped by with my daughter as she loves crepes. I had mushroom, which was quite vinegary. She had feta, tomato, pesto and mozzarella - the pesto was out of a jar, and tomatoes were unripe, just chopped into large chunks. It is very unusual for...us to leave food on our plates! So disappointing, as there are SO many good places to eat in London. The staff were nice.More

I do not usually complain but thought worth reviewing as I had a very bad experience at this cafe. The staff were very unfriendly and were very rude. Being gluten free I know what gluten free cakes should taste like but the carrot cake was...stale! It was obvious that it was very old and should not have been sold. I complained nicely as I was not expecting my money back or anything however I received a bad reception and no apology was given! It was also very experience - £4.80 for a slice of cake - Ottolenghi cakes are that price!More

Are you looking for cakes that taste like wet sand, look like the poop emoji (💩) with some icing sloppily thrown on top, and garnished with some fruit? Then Romeo's Bakery is the place for you! Like most people, I had the absolute worst experience...with them! Blinded by false advertising on their website, I regret not reading reviews thoroughly before I placed an order. I was looking for a sugar-free cake for my wife's birthday, and I placed an order on their website following their instructions and letting them know about the delivery date, etc. in the order notes. Here are the details: Order No: 1081145924 Order Date: 8th Aug 2021 Cake Size: 10" Cake Type: Vegan Raspberry Gateaux Cake Cost: £49.99 Delivery Cost: £25 Total Cost: £74.99 Order Notes: "Hi, Good afternoon! Hope all is well? I was desperately looking for sugar-free cakes, and I'm so glad to have found you. The cake is for my wife's birthday. Please see details below: Cake Size: 10", Cake Type: Vegan Raspberry Gateaux, Message on Cake: Happy Birthday xxx!, Delivery Date: 25th Aug 2021. Please call me on xxx should you have any questions. Thanks, Karan" Having placed the order, I called them to confirm the details, and they said they have everything and I needn't worry. On 25th Aug, I called them up to enquire about the delivery time. BTW, they hardly answer their phone, which in hindsight is perfectly in line with their excellent customer service! After like 30 attempts, when they finally answered their phone, they were clueless about my order but kept saying that if I've placed an order, I'll get it! I wasn't convinced and called them up an hour or so later, and lo and behold, they had no idea what the cake was or what the delivery address was! They said that they could only see the order number on their system and nothing else! So, frantically they said that they have the cake in stock and they will send it over. I had asked for a Vegan cake, but they didn't seem to have that, so I had to accept a regular cake (cost £44.99). They said they would refund the balance amount of £5, which of course they haven't! Fantastic customer service continued when the cake arrived, and the delivery person called shouting that he can’t get out of the car as there’s no free parking space (which of course there were) and I have to go down to him to get the cake! After some kerfuffle, he came up and left the cake box at the door. When I opened the box, to my horror, the cake looked nothing like the pictures they have up on their website! I kid you not, it looked like the poop emoji (💩) with some icing sloppily thrown on top and garnished with some fruit! I was praying that it at least taste good, but no luck there either! It has the grainy texture of wet sand (it could be used to make sandcastles at the beach, and now that I think about it, maybe that's how they were able to stack it to look like the poop emoji), and taste like it too! One expects sugar-free cakes to taste just like sugared cakes, and having eaten at other places, I know that they do, especially when you're paying so much for them! So save yourself the stress, frustration, horror, disappointment and heartache, and give this one a miss! P.S. You know how they say that a picture doesn't capture the true and beauty and essence of something? Well, in this case, the picture is better than the actual thing!More

I ordered a birthday cake for my dairy free gluten free husband with a it of trepidation as it needed to satisfy every guest and children. It was SUPERB. The chocolate was black but not bitter, the consistency was so light and it was beautiful...to look at. Romeo’s will now be my first stop for my « difficult « guests! My gluten free guests were also very pleased with their quiche. Add to that a very friendly, patient and efficient service. Paradise! Thank you! Annie ViortMore

i had a cake made from Romeo’s for my birthday a fe months ago and it was really horrible. the texture was squelchy and dense and was not right for a cake. i thought i’d try something different from there to see if it was...just bad luck. i had a slice of the banana bread (which was very overpriced) and when i ate it, again it was squelchy and wet and almost felt raw. i’ve been feeling pretty ill all day since i ate it.More

Seems to have new management and fresh friendly faces. I work along upper street so always stop for a coffee and a bite to eat - weekends are my favourite time to visit. Romeo is still in the kitchen and you can hear his laugh...from outside which is great but it’s nice to see new staff and managers!More

For my first time trying their products, I have ordered through the app Too Good to Go. Some businesses on that app allow you to choose specific bags available, vegan, vegetarian or regular bags, but Romeo's bakery do not separate or specify on Too Good...to Go. Anyway, the owner was very kind and gave me a bag of vegan items, so I will definitely order again through their own website. I haven't eaten all items in the bag yet, but so far they're very nice, so I'll definitely be ordering specific items that I want to try from the menu. I recommend this place to anyone on a gluten free and vegan diet.More

Romeo's is amazing. The cakes are delicious, also the smoothies and salads. It is so friendly and the staff are great. We go quite a lot as I don't really like sugar much and the cakes are brilliant and it's a lovely place to spend...some time reading. The chocolate cake, carrot and blueberry muffins are my favourite but I like them all. We have got delivery during the Covid Lockdown and it is super. Highly recommended!More

First found out about Romeo's through a google search, was looking for GF/refined sugar-free desserts. Bought a slice of the carrot cake which I felt was extremely overpriced for the size although it was delicious.

I like this place as it has a good selection of vegan and sugar free stuff. The veggie dishes are not the most special thing you'll find but they are still good and fresh. However, my last experience was terrible as I had to send...back my plate twice cause my quiche was frozen. It was then completely forgotten and after 1.30 of waiting I wasn't hungry. The staff apologised and gave me %50 off which I appreciated of course, but still it ruined what would have been a lovely lunch.More

I have just left and I don't think I will be going back. Firstly upon trying to order we were informed that only cash was being accepted because the WIFI was down. Luckily I had enough cash to pay for me and my friend's. After...ordering it took 15 to 20mins for our hot drinks and cakes to arrive. At one point a piece of cake and tea was placed in front of me and then snatched away by another member of staff who said the order was meant for someone else. This was rather rudely done as the cake was what I had ordered and the other couple the cake was then handed to had arrived after us. The cake and coffee were not very good. The flat white was not very warm. Another very negative thing was that there were ants all over the table. One to avoidMore
