Good, authentic Japanese restaurant in a basement near St Paul's. My lunch companion had the katsudon; I had a selection of sushi and sashimi. Both were good, and the service was attentive. Will definitely use the restaurant again.

We had the early bird set menu at £26 which included sashimi, salad, miso soup, followed by choice of Teppanyaki, with ice cream desert to follow. It was all very good and reasonably priced. The sashimi was delicious as was the tender steak teppanyaki. The staff all doing their best to please. You wouldn't come here for the ambience though... More

Located in a hidden lane between the millennium bridge and St. Paul's Cathedral, the restaurant has a modest decor and clearly family owned. I went there solely for their teppanyaki menu, but I also tried their sashimi, which is good in quality and reasonably priced, as I expected. Their Teppanyaki has several set menu with various prices, and the portion... More

I love this place. The teppanyaki is such a great experience and the early bird special is great value for money. The food is fresh, the service is swift and with a smile and the sake list is extensive. Pay the extra £3.50 for the fried rice, it's well worth it. I can't wait to go back soon. Tip: book... More

My wife and I were here for a quick early dinner with our 9 month old son. We were the only ones in there so I cant comment on service when busy but all the wait staff were all very helpful. We ended up ordering the Miyama Course Teppanyaki option and were very happy that we did. The Dobin Mushi... More

Sushi was ok, but not high class. Service was slow. They severed all platers not at the same time. Miso soup was good as expected. Large list of choices on the menu. Even Sake and very seldom Japanese Whiskey.

I am a big fan of Japanese food but while eating at the Miyama I couldn't help but thinking that this was the first time I was having REAL Japanese food. My wife and I had the five course menu for dinner and I can only say that each course was better than the previous one. Everything was deliciously cooked... More

I have been knowing them for a while and I have been enjoying it as well. The reason I decided to write this review was to do with the big change on sushi counter. Since the new sushi chief has started earlier this year, the quality of the sushi has changed dramatically! I do not know how to express this... More

I brought my mother out to Miyama for dinner on a Wednesday evening on 9 April 2014 as it had been recommended by a friend. I made the reservation online the day before and it was straight-forward and fuss-free. The restaurant itself is tucked away along this small narrow road (Godliman Street), accessible either through where Grange St Paul’s hotel... More

OK- lets be clear . The food here is very good. Scallops were fantastic and likwise the steak. Set menus are very good value given what you get. However... you shouldnt be expected to sit at the counter waiting for an hour before anyone cooks anything. Similarly they couldnt make us any sushi as they were missing a chef. Also... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
