This place was loud and crowded but we also went on a Saturday evening which might of been the reason for that. More of a younger persons bar. Prices for beers are way overpriced. But the meals plus a beer are a good price, around...More

Had lunch at the restaurant (which is a different menu to downstairs). No smaller meal options so we were allowed to order from the bar sandwich menu too. Food was very good, service great and atmosphere lovely. Toilets could be cleaner.

Fantastic building. Worked near here in the past. Unfortunately has fallen into the ‘tourist trap’ category. Far too many tables outside and what looks like a tiny kitchen struggling to cope. Was warned of 40 minute wait and that was fine but when food arrived...More

It is often very difficult to get into The George, so I visited this pub on a Saturday over Easter weekend as I thought it would be nice to go when it wasn't rammed. While the bar staff were nice as well as the gentleman...More

Hi Julie thanks for taking the time to give us a glowing reference. Yes those toilets can be a let down especially on a busy evening. We have a problem with this building as we can not do major works due to it being a...More

Hi Munro685 yep that Jack White concert was amazing. Thanks for taking the time to review us so highly. The toilets are a common theme of let down this week but we do check on them at least every two hours. We were inundated at...More

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond

browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

This is certainly the 'site of' the original coaching inn but the current building was not built until later, following a major fire in the area. It is certainly worth a visit and a drink, though the food is only ok.
