The building is gorgeous but that's about it. Inside smelt of urine and industrial cleaner, ordered a roast which arrived lukewarm, and cost an insulting £12. Also requested hot sauce, and was served a dish of what appeared to be cream with paprika mixed in?...More

I was surprised at the quality of the food supplied which along with good service , very fair prices and smashing entertainment made this a great evening. You must book to join The Scary Walk which is super fun and entitles you to a 20...More

Went for a meal after Dickensian excursion. The looks are deceiving. There is no atmosphere inside, the staff looks disinterested or untrained. Not told when asking for menu that something is not available. There was no apology when my first choice of meal was not...More

Unimpressed by handing over £10 for two cups of (barely) room temperature mulled wine, with two children making a racket in the bar (I thought they werent allowed in there?) together with a door that was adamant not to shut - perhaps meant as a...More

We dropped in to see this wonderful old building last week and decide to stay for lunch. Superb service with a good laugh from Ellen, and excellent pub food - perfect fish and chips and crushed (not too mushy!) peas. Very nice George beer and...More

Give the restaurant their due. Following substantial complaint all the meals were replaced with...More

Fortunately we were there outside the high season, it is in a really nice place, with a good man and an equally good mood. The service was friendly, having to look a little after this gem, which is London's oldest existing inn.

Found the place by accident and happy i did. Really cool place with a vibrent local feeling. The food / menu was typical local pub food what I went for - very good I would for sure come back and eat here

We had a couple locals recommend this place and we weren't disappointed! If you're looking for authentic, historic London, this is the place to find it.

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest
