The restaurant is a very nice setting along the Regents Canal. The food was nice and tasty, but if we didn't go on the Eat Out To Help Out scheme I would suggest it is not great value for money. The main thing that let the restaurant down was the poor service, staff were not attentive - we kept having to get their attention to ask for more drinks, order food etc rather than them coming to check everything was okay. They also failed to serve one of the dishes we ordered to our table of 4, meaning one person was left without their dish until the rest of us had pretty much finished.

I have been coming to this place on a regular basis for the past 25 years. This time the visit went off to a bad start. I had booked a table for 6 a few days before the event and asked for a special cake to be brought in at my expense. At first I was told that they would do this, and then, 24 hours before the event they sent me an email telling me that they could not get a cake. It was by now too late to sort this out, but we proceeded with the event anyway. We arrived at 7 pm and were seated promptly and we ordered our food. The Restaurant was packed full, every table taken, upstairs and downstairs, so we put up with a lengthy wait for the food to come. But after we had finished our Starters, we had to wait for more than one hour for the main dishes to arrive. We asked four or five times what had happened to our food, at one stage the Waitress came and told me that her Boss would come up shortly, I politely told her that it is not her Boss that we want to see, but the food. By 9.40 pm we were still waiting for the main courses that we had ordered at 7 pm. Most tables were empty by now, and they had already started to turn off the lights by the time our food finally arrived. 10 Minutes later the Waitress came to our table asking us to hurry up as they are closing now. My wife then rightly told her that it is not fair to let us wait for such a long time to get our food and now rush us to finish. I have come here many times and have always given good reviews, but this time, the service was definitely much below of what I am expecting, although I must say that the food was good as always. I felt embarrassed in front of my guests, after bringing them here and then experiencing that kind of service. Very disappointing!

Hi Hugo, I’m so sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with us. We try to make our patron’s experience enjoyable and memorable, and we hold Feng Shang Princess to a very high standard. In this case, we clearly fell short. We did have a slow service due to being two kitchen member short resulting in a lengthy wait for food. Our staffs were inexperienced in dealing with the new 10:00pm curfew for restaurants which led to a back-log in bookings. While we'd love the opportunity to regain your trust, we understand how frustrated you must be. My deepest apologies for any inconvenience we have caused you. We’d like to make it up to you by offering a 20% discount on your next meal and a house champagne on us. I must reassure you that this is only a one-off experience and it will not happen again. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback. Kind regards, Public Relations Manager

we had the set meal for 2 at £38 per person. The quality of food was very tasty and portions sizes were fair (maybe a little more rice would’ve been good). The location was great and offered something different to a typical resultant. Most the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall we had an enjoyable meal with food costing about £78 for two drinks £8 for two 330ml of coke plus service charge of 12.5%.

We were excited to order food from this restaurant from Deliveroo on a Saturday evening, having not had Chinese food in nearly a year. I rang to ask if two dishes could be made without onion or garlic as I react very badly to them. I was assured that yes, they could be made without onion or garlic, I just needed to put a message on my order with delivery. I ordered right away and put a very clear message on the order saying “NO onion and “NO garlic” on those dishes. The food arrived shortly after, in what appeared to be pre-made containers of food that had been microwaved, swimming in huge chunks of onion. One bite of that meal would have made me very sick. Both dishes went into the garbage, which is such a waste of food, and money. If someone calls AND messages to say that an ingredient makes us ill, checks to see if certain dishes can be made without it, the restaurant says that they can be made without it, but they send you dishes laced with the ingredient anyway, surely this is not a restaurant which values its customers health and well-being. Thankfully the onions were very evident (as per the photo). I would have been very ill for days had the onions been at the bottom of the dish and I would have eaten some of it before seeing them. This is unacceptable and irresponsible behaviour on the part of the restaurant, especially as I had purposely called them to check.

Hi Lisa, I’m terribly sorry to hear you that you received an order that contained ginger and onion even though our staff was clearly informed, and a note was also placed on the order. We strive to provide only the best-quality food to our valuable customers. In this case, we clearly fell short. This was a mistake that should have never happened, and we will be using this as a learning experience to improve our kitchen. All kitchen staff members have already been spoken to about this, as well the staff who answered your call. In addition, we can guarantee that 100% of all food are freshly made from the kitchen by highly trained chefs. And we would never serve pre-made or microwaved food to any of our valued customers. We have contacted Deliveroo to make a refund for the 3 items and we will keep you updated on it as well. Kind regards, Public Relations Manager

After a bad experience in 2016, I decided to give this place a second chance. The setting is wonderful, but the service diffident and the food below par. There are takeaways in Camden where the food is more enjoyable. I felt that desite the costly food and the "couldn't care less" service, the staff thought that they were doing me a favour. There are better Chinese restuarants nearby. THis place is disappointing. And the diffident service cost an extra 12.5%. Insulting as the service was rotten.

Very disappointed, big no if you are vegetarian. We said strictly vegetarian and even described what we can and can’t eat specifically, even then we got noodles served with prawns, we asked to take it back, not even a sorry for mistake but it came back to us within seconds and I truly believe that they just literally took our prawns and sent back. Of course we didn’t eat it. They were not bothered asking plus 10% service charge on the bill without asking us if ok to even pay foe the service or not. Most place they give option but not here. Never again. Only good thing were steamed dumplings. Worse Chinese restaurants ever visited.

We had been a couple times pre-Covid and recall having mixed feelings about it, but thought to try again anyway. We made a booking for Wednesday last week. Arrived and were seated after calling out to the man behind the bar. No one gave us a menu so a little later we asked and got one menu between 5 people. When we were ready to order we tried to get the waitress to come over but she kept saying “2 minutes wait relax”. When she finally came over, she was awful. She was in such a rush to take our order, than if I would take 5 seconds between naming dishes (as I would flip over to the page to point out the dish), she would turn around while saying I’ll come back!! She put so much pressure on us to just order, that we decided to not order a couple dishes and just end it there. I’ve dined at all sorts of places in the world but I have never ever experienced this kind of crazy pressure while ordering. Our spring rolls and duck arrived as starters, but both were missing their dipping sauces (sweet chilli and hoisin). We tried to get the waitress to bring us the sauces on a few occasions and she would just says “2 minutes wait relax”. We would wait. In fact we waited well over 8 minutes to just get ready made sauces for our hot starters, that were cold by now and no sauce was given. I then had to get up and go to the kitchen and demand the sauces. The staff thought it was hilarious but I couldn’t care less and grabbed the pre filled sauces and wakes back. This is what the service was like the entire evening. Horrible. They had the nerve to add 12.5% service to the bill which we said we wouldn’t pay, and this annoyed her even more. This place may have potential, but the service is so bad, you will really curse yourself for spending your time and money there. Never going there again! Horrible staff with a rude attitude.

Have been wanting to visit this place for many years now. On first impressions it is quite fun down now. The service was very poor. When ordering the waitress did say we may have ordered too much food so we thanked her and reduced our order yet when the food came out she hadn’t removed anything???? There was a young waiter who had a bit of personality.Ordered a Pint of shandy to be given a hi ball glass at the cost of £5. Like most reviews about this place the food is really good,a bit over priced, but it is good. It’s the service that lets it down. Maybe get some new staff that know how to smile.

Very disappointed with service and food.. We have a family reunion and surprise 21st birthday to celebrate. There was 13 of us and all had the feng set menu which was the most expensive set menu, the starters were barely warm and the main course were all very bland except for the sweet and sour chicken. We had a birthday cake that was to be brought to table with candles lighting as a surprise for the birthday boy but instead the waitress come to the table asking who was the birthday boy and spoilt the surprise then to add insult to injury they brought the cake to table without the candles lighting, and then lit them in front of him. We have been to this restaurant a few years back and it was really nice and food was delicious although a bit expensive we didn't mind as it a beautiful setting and restaurant. But unfortunately on this occasion we were really dissatisfied and not just with the food also the service, all very rushed and didn't charge the cutlery between courses even when we asked for fresh ones. Also, every time we ordered a drink we were constantly asked if we wanted doubles, I think this was very pushy and felt as if we were being pushed to spend more money. The bill came to nearly £900.00 which was fine but £90.00 of that was service charge which we felt was way too much especially given the service we were given. We asked if they could take the service charge off for the reason's above, the lady wasn't very happy and said that that was given to the staff as a tip, so we said we would rather give our own tip which she agreed reluctantly. So we reduced the service charge by £2.00 per head and deducted £26.00 from the service charge. It's such a shame to have had a bad experience on our special family occasion. I wouldn't go there again.

The food was very disappointing and similar to what you would expect from a mediocre, local takeaway. Our order arrived very quickly, so the food was clearly not fresh and quite a few of the dishes were lukewarm! Perhaps the microwave is on the blink? The meal was certainly edible but everything tasted bland and uninspired, a bit like the decor! The main dining area looks dated and tired and definitely needs a makeover! We were served by three people in total, two of whom were very pleasant, but one waiter was unbelievably rude and brusque and helped to make the whole experience even more negative! Frankly, for the prices they are charging I would expect more. Will definitely never return!

We went here for my birthday as was on my bucket list! I wanted to ignore some of the reviews as some people can be a bit oer the top but now I wish I had listened! When we arrived we were left standing by the door even though we were seen ( the place was not busy at all with only 2 tables occupied) We had to call someone over to ask of we can order a drink, items were not available from the menu which I had tried to order, no one came back to take mains order as I said I needed a cople of minutes to choose another dish as 2 of what I chose initially thry did not have. We had our starters then once finished had to call them over again to order a main. The food was nothing at all special amd we even left some, my local takeaway tastes much better. The atmosphere was cold, no one came to the table unless they were called over, the staff looked miserable and the older women with bobbed hair cut was quite rude to the many drivers who came to collet for delivery telling them to go wait outside. It's a shame as the boat/surroundings is lovely but unfortunately we will not be returning or recommending.

Took my husband for his 70th birthday, was a four hour round trip from Essex, what a disappointment, was asked when booking online if it was a special occasion, put it was, this was totally ignored on the night, from the minute we were arrived , everything felt frantic and rushed, I hadn’t taken my coat off and we were asked what drinks we wanted , we hadn’t even opened drinks menu, as soon as they were brought , the waiter stood over us hurrying us to choose our food while clearing mucus from his nose, so felt sick before we started, there was zero to no interaction, not even to ask if we’d enjoyed the meal, staff so rude and it wasn’t even busy when we arrived. We left and I was so upset and never cause a fuss but I actually went back and spoke to the staff and said how they had ruined the night, we’d order, eaten by and left in just under an hour, they seemed surprised. I even emailed the management, two days later have still not received an acknowledgment, would not recommend this place

My wife Lin & I have just celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary at Feng Shang, & had a really enjoyable time. The food was delicious, & despite previous reviews, the service was faultless. Prices are relatively high, but the main attraction is the setting on the Regents canal, where we enjoyed watching the wildfowl below us, while tucking into our crispy fried duck

The restaurant itself is very special, beautiful design, very romantic in a gorgeous setting on the Regent's canal. The service was brilliant - I cannot fault it. All staff were so tentative, caring, professional, but also engaging with us. Food excellent and plenty. I would love to go back again.

Visited for a big birthday for my partner and emailed ahead to have a surprise prepared - this wasn’t noted or got forgotten which was a shame. We were originally sat in a very packed area extremely close to others - and there’s plenty of space on other floors - so we asked to be moved and weren’t met with an accommodating attitude. My starter of the crispy chicken was awful and unfortunately tasted as though it could have been made from frozen. Our mains were much better but overall the experience was poor and therefore wouldn’t return again
