I used to visit regularly in the late 1980s and hadn’t been here in many years. Discussing somewhere to go pre-theatre it came up so we thought we’d give it a go. As far as we could tell the menu was virtually identical to the...one we remember, a true case of ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’. I don’t recall any tables outside in those days, this time we sat outside and so didn’t see the interior. The service was friendly and fast, we all enjoyed the very authentic tapas menu and left happy. The only thing to watch out for is the garlic - a good idea to make sure everybody in the party likes it as they use a lot. We do so no problem. I’m sure there are many other excellent tapas restaurants in London these days but it’s lovely to see that Meson Don Filipe still delivers. We will be back soon!More

What a fabulous find! Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and finally the food was absolutely fantastic. We had lots of different tapas dishes all of which were incredibly tasty. Great value for money, just wish we lived closer!

Oh no! What happened here? Meson Don Felipe has always been a "go to" for quick takeaway lunches as it is 5 mins from my office - they did the most brilliant and generous chicken paella. Nice big chunks of chicken breast and great value....Haven't been there since Covid started but now back in the office, I thought I would go and give it a try. Still doing the takeaway boxes for £5 but to my horror, they have taken the worst decision and replaced the decent chicken breast with low quality chicken off cuts. Very small, mainly dark meat with a fair amount of sinew on them. Such a waste!! Please go back to using proper chicken!More

Came here for a weekday evening meal. We had booked which was fortunate as it was busy at about 8pm. The manager who welcomed us and took our initial order was lovely and friendly and made a good impression. Service throughout generally was pleasant but...not overly so. The place was incredibly loud, it was difficult to hold a conversation. Also, some of the seats are high and my mum struggled with this. So, it wasn't quite the relaxing meal we had hoped for! We left incredibly full - the portions are very large for tapas and we struggled to eat it all! But the food tasted home made and was tasty. I'd recommend a maximum of 4 dishes between 2 people. When we had finished we were not offered any more drinks or coffee which was a shame. Overall, the food was great and it has a buzzy atmosphere - but it wasn't the relaxing evening we were looking for!More

Our first time back since the first lockdown..........and just as good as ever. It was a great delight to return. They now have outdoor seating, though we chose to be indoors this time in view of the possible torrents. There seems to be limited bar...seating in addition. The Ensalada especial was just as especial as always - we can't have a meal here without ordering this sizeable offering. Escalivada hot (though it is also offered cold), boquerones, Higaditos al Jerez, Berenjena rellena were all excellent, and the Habas con jamón better than I even rmembered them. This is a restaurant of very long-standing, and one of the most reliable we go to.....long may then continue.More

Met up with friends here on a Saturday evening. The place was busy but not oppressively so. The waitress was very friendly although maybe a little too much in a rush to take our order but when the food arrived it was perfectly cooked and...very tasty. A most enjoyably meal in very pleasant surroundings. My only mistake was not to check the bill before paying as I noticed afterwards that a service charge is included and I added a tip on top. Something to remember for the future as I believe this is what most restaurants in London do now.More

We had a great mid-afternoon lunch on the first Saturday post-lockdown 2021. It was busy but the staff managed well - delicious food, very good service and reasonable price. We'll definitely be back!

Been dining here for over 30 years and the food was exemplary. Sardines to die for..they were huge and so full of flavour. Chicken livers were a delight, topped off with squid in ink sauce..yummy. Already booked for next week!

Fabulous to have this great Spanish tapas bar back open - we went with friends to re-kindle some great memories here from years gone by. Fantastic food as always - the tuna croquettes and calamari were especially delicious; the cava, wine, beer and sherry all...top notch!More
