I recommend going traditional here. We did do the Filo Pie, which is a great veg option, but the steak and mushroom can't be beat. Also, the peas are great.

Friendly and helpful bar staff, rooftop terrace that makes you forget you're just a stones throw from one of the busiest spots in London. Blankets and heaters outside...little inconsiderate smoker upwind from us but was still very much worth it! I'll be back!

I visited The Windmill a fortnight ago with colleagues. Great buzz as soon as you walk in (Friday lunchtime). We went upstairs to The Pie room. Great décor and a nice feel to the place. Our waiter was prompt in taking our drinks order and not long after returned to take our food order. All of our pies were beautifully... More

Totally the best pie ever. Good service as well. Bill was £60 for four pie dinners and a couple of sides. Would definitely recommend to anyone that likes a real homemade pie.

I was taken here for a business lunch by a client who claims to know the best places in London for pies. Have to say could not fault it - I don't remember the last time I ate a steak & kidney pie but this was excellent - more than I could eat at 1 sitting even without any side... More

Beautiful old pub serving interesting food. Rude bar staff almost insisting that we had pink grapefruit and a full glass of ice to drown our gins instead of a couple of cubes and a slice of lemon. It's a Youngs pub so I imagine the beer is good but all I saw were customers drinking lager! It IS pricy, even... More

Hi there, Well I'm glad your liked the look at the pub, we do our best to take care it and make it feel loved. Quick explanation on the disappointing side of your experience, prices are premium but are Young's standard and for a lovely pub in Mayfair it is still competitive. You selected a Little Bird gin, a delicious... More

I literally go here every single time I am in London. Their pies are absolutely fantastic. I say "pies" but the reality is that I invariably order the steak and kidney -- it was a favorite growing up and you can't find it in the US so I always take advantage and order it here. The puff pastry crust is... More

Pros: Delicious pies, amazing deserts, quirky atmosphere Cons: Pricey (but definitely worth it) We had the Steak and Mushroom Pie with Triple-Cooked Chips, Shepard's Pie, Summer Berry Crumble, Maple Pecan Pie, and a pot of tea. First, the pies were amazing – I especially loved the Steak and Mushroom Pie which was like the most heavenly Hot Pocket ever to... More

Description
Pies are our passion. Our 3 x National winning steak pie is always available. We have traditional favourites such as fish pie, shepherd's pie, chicken pie and vegetarian pies alongside 'lip smackingly' great seasonal pies that can be washed down with up to 8 cask ales. Our 'Secret Garden' is ideally situated on our hidden roof terrace offering our guests an idyllic spot to soak up the sun and enjoy a fruit infused cocktail. Along with our dedicated pie rooms and cosy bar, The Windmill pub is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the West End.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
