After seeing the write ups on-line, I was hoping that The Windmill would stand up to all the hype. We were not disappointed. Great atmosphere upon entering the pub and the pies were lovely. Service was quick and pleasant. You can see the standard of this eatery as it is jam packed over lunch time in this area but we... More

The google search for "best meat pies" didn't disappoint. This was one of my favorite meals in London. Along with great pie and mash the beer selection was solid and the staff fun. I'll definitely be going back the next time I'm in town.

Great food and atmosphere. The pie and mash was lovely, the cottage pie the best I have ever had. Our server wasn't great, just stood behind the bar unless we called him over. The drinks were quite pricey as well.

The pies are the stars of the show. The steak and kidney had proper steak food sized pieces of kidney - not micro pieces. Thick rich gravy and excellent pastry. Delicious. Had also two starter platters also very good. Good range of beers and a nice pub. A gem and whilst not the cheapest place - it is Mayfair and... More

We found the food here to be outstanding! My husband and I eat a lot of fish. We thought the fish pie was about the best we had ever tasted. Other patrons ordered the beef pie and they thought it was outstanding as well. The atmosphere was also friendly and inviting. I highly recommend it!

Two work colleagues and had lunch at The Windmill, a gastropub tucked away in Mayfair. I'm not often (pleasantly) surprised but I'd say they had the best steak & kidney pie I've ever had. The crust was ultra thin and crunchy (not slimy) and full of delicious meat with extra gravy on the side. It was a real treat to... More

We had an excellent experience at The Windmill. It is an attractive pub located near Regent St. We booked a table in their "pie room". They are well regarded for their pies and have won many awards. My steak and kidney pie did not disappoint. What made the experience truly excellent was the effort our waiter and the manager put... More

We had an idea to try the Windmill for their pies....but the first night we were turned away for food because it was late. So we tried again two nights later and found the Windmill as busy as could be, shoulder to shoulder! Lucky us as we found a table in the lower room just as a party was leaving.... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
