Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have eaten regularly at Cosmoba, a discrete restaurant offering fine Italian food, for over ten years. The food is absolutely excellent, and there is a good choice of Italian cuisine. Some of my friends, who live in Italy say "the food is better than...many a restaurant in Italy!" The staff are very friendly and like family - you and your guests are always made to feel most welcome..More

Poor quality food, mediocre service, expensive service charge. Felt sorry for them since they were empty - but no surprise really!More

Thoroughly awful experience… we booked for lunch at this restaurant in the knowledge that they closed at 1430. We arrived at 1300 as arranged. I asked for a dish of olives and some bread to nibble while we waited for main courses. The olives were...a soggy mess and the bread as small ciabata roll split toasted and drenched in bitter garlic butter. Main courses were classic chicken escalope with vegetables and a lasagne. The lasagne was ancient, the vegetables were canned green beans and the escalopes were burnt at the edges. At 1355 we asked for desserts but were be told that only ice cream and tiramisu were available because the kitchen was closed and the chef (chef?) had gone home once our main courses had been served. A further insult was to see a 15% service charge on the bill. The sooner this place closes down the betterMore

Visited Cosmoba twice in a month after a long break due to covid and not being in the area. We were surprised to find the menu had much less choice than in the past. On the first visit we enjoyed pizza and pasta dishes which...were very good. On the next visit we had saltimbocca and chicken Milanese with potatoes and vegetables which were disappointing. The wine was good and reasonably priced. The waiter and the chef seemed quite grumpy but Umberto was as charming as ever. The evenings we dined there the restaurant wasn't as busy as it used to be.More

Visited this restaurant 6 years ago and following a show nearby, decided to head here to see if it was still up to the standard we remembered. It certainly was! Arriving around 5 pm, we were the only customers so did receive a warmer welcome...than those who were arriving an hour or so later. The empty restaurant was now full ant the two staff were rushed off their feet but to be fair, the service and customer interaction still continued at a high level. We had a couple of starters (Arcini and mixed olives) with mains of Chicken Carbonara, lasagne and Milanese Chicken, all of which were excellent. Basic Italian food with no airs or graces served well and tasting even better. A like gem in an otherwise bustling city and clearly a favourite of many regulars. Add 3 large glasses of wine, a Tiramassu and couple of Cointreau coffees (which were excellent) the bill of £65 (which included a gratuity) was excellent value for money. Certainly hope it won't be 6 years before we return.More

My husband and I came across this spot last week. We were promptly seated inside and enjoyed our dinner. The owner and waiter worked very hard to serve and were helpful with suggestions. We ordered garlic bread, a small salad and my husband enjoyed the...pasta with prawns while I had the eggplant parmesan. People around us were enjoying pizzas and they looked very appealing. Had we had a chance to return we might have enjoyed a pizza as well.More

After eating at a lot of pubs in London we came across this gem of a restaurant. Authentic Italian and the food was divine. The owner, Umberto, was ever so accommodating for anything we needed. Will definitely come back here next time we’re in London

Nice enough food but very rude server. We ordered a starter and main but as we were ordering the waiter got distracted by another waiter asking him a question and never asked if that completed our order or if we wanted to order anything else....As soon as he turned back around we asked if we could also order a side - to which we were told no the order has already been given to the kitchen. We thought he was joking but no side ever showed up. My brother was running the London marathon the next day so could have done with the extra carbs!More

The location and setting of the Restuarant are really good. The staff were welcoming and friendly and aimed to please. The reviews praised the pasta dishes, but we went for two meat dishes. Went for a late dinner. A cozy Italian restaurant. The pictures talk for themselves. Just lovely. Would love to come back for another dinner at this place, next time I'm in London. I do recommend this restaurant if you are in the area, because this...one sticks out from the other Italian restaurants, and there are a lot of them. The place was not crowded and seams like the staff had put "reserved" card on tables, even though it was not reserved. A little strange, but maybe a trick to make it look busy. I just don't think its a good idea. We almost did not walk in, because we saw all the "reserved" cards on the tables.More

I came in quite early for dinner, tempted in as I turned down a cosy quiet lane, but everything was perfect, lovely, and oh so fast (but that is the benefits of early dinner!) A large glass of the house Sangiovese, delicately flavourful Pollo con...limone and a fried courgette temptation that I wholly recommend covering in cheese. Just what I needed tonight. Highly recommended.More

We were so pleased to return to Cosmoba tonight. This is a place in the heart of Bloomsbury that transports you to Italy. It’s not just the great food and wine. It’s the atmosphere. This is a restaurant filled with laughter, of people talking within...and across tables, of the magic of Umberto and his team’s brilliant hospitality. The food is simple but stunning. The wine list is well chosen. The ambience is incredibly special. So, yes, great to be back at Cosmoba. We had a stunning evening.More

If you sit outside in the front terrace it's accessible but to get inside as I remember you had to go up a step or two.
