Visited for afternoon tea during a weekend away in London for my husbands 50th Seated in a corner of a conservatory which was very bare and dated with what appeared to be damp in one corner. Whilst the cakes and pastries were Ok there were...only 4 plus mini scones whereas the groupon description and pictures imply 6 and as only 1 of each cake as per an earlier review we ended up cutting each in half. Was advised the deal included 2 drinks but when I asked if I could have a tea and a coffee was advised no it had to be the same drink. The staff were very attentive so have provided an average score as I only paid the groupon price but would have felt very disappointed if had paid the full price advertised. Missing those special touches usually provided with an afternoon tea with this level of price tagMore

We booked the Chocolate Lovers Afternoon Tea for Two with Champagne at Hilton Park Lane. Booking online was easy. We arrived at 12.30 for the tea. We were taken to a table next to a family, normally this would not have been a problem but...as the restaurant was actually empty at this stage we asked to sit elsewhere. Our waitress, although she was pleasant friendly she worn her face mask over her mouth only. This made us uncomfortable. Sandwiches were lovely but tiny. Scones warn and fresh, yummy with salted caramel spread. The cakes were disappointing. Only four very sweet cakes which we had to cut to share. One chocolate cake on top was the only chocolate part of the tea so cannot understand why it’s called a chocolate afternoon tea. No top up of sandwiches, scones or cakes offered. Given the price we have had a lot better elsewhere. Red velvet tea was very nice as was the glass of champagne. I couldn’t really recommend the afternoon tea.More

I was very happy to book the afternoon tea for 2 as I am a big Bake Off fan and was looking forward to trying their cakes! Unfortunately we went there to discover and tired and outdated restaurant overlooking a parking lot. But still, we...were there for the cakes! The actual tea was very nice, I had the vanilla chai tea with milk and my boyfriend the organic darjeeling. The sandwiches... lets just say I had better sandwiches from tesco!! Full of mayonnaise and the bread was dry. The scones were delicious, fresh and soft but that’s it! The exotic fruit tart was average, the cheesecake was a gelatinous joke, the victoria sponge very dry and the chocolate cake extremely sweet. Of course we had to share everything, that means we actually cut everything in half. Very disappointing for the price of £39 per person!!!!!!! I give 2 stars just because the staff was very welcoming and polite! But I won’t be going back for sure!More

Just Wines - But Great, Friendly Service We have stayed at the Hilton Park Lane many times, and on quite a few of those, have spent time in Podium, the restaurant/bar, just off of the main lobby. In December, we had arrived early, and had...a few hours to occupy, before our room was ready - as we had expected. Initially, we had gone up to 10º, next to Galvin at Windows, but were made to feel less than welcome. Since we were looking for wines, to fill the time, and as the HHonors Lounge does not serve wine until later in the evening, we headed back down to Podium, and I am so very glad that we did. Now, Podium is both a restaurant and a bar, with the smallish bar, nestled just off of the main lobby. We were seeking wines, so pulled up stools there. The bartender made sure that we had our wine list quickly, and we started in with the Vidal Riesling from the Marlborough Region of New Zealand ‘18, and the Seifried from the Nelson Region, also New Zealand ‘17. The latter was not on the wine list, as it had just been replaced by the Vidal, and the bartender suggested that we try both, to do a side-by-side comparison. Already, the fun was starting. Both were a bit cold, but we had plenty of time to let them warm up a bit in the glass. While we are both fans of well-made German Rieslings, we have not had much luck with that grape from other countries, the USA included. Both of these, however, were quite nice, and we just sat back and sipped. Next, we moved to the McGuigane The Pick Chardonnay from Southeast Australia ‘18, and the Cullinan View Chenin Blanc from Western Cape, South Africa ‘18. Again, both were nice, if a bit cold. As we were after the lunch crowd, we had the bar, pretty much to ourselves. There were some late diners in the restaurant section, though not many. Normally, Podium does a heavy breakfast business, then moderate crowds for lunch. The layout is almost a square, with a main level, and then two raised areas, one of which front the windows, looking across the entrance circle, to Hyde Park. The bar, is sort of in a corner, but immediately to the right, as one enters from the hotel lobby. As the restaurant was fairly empty at this time, we had the opportunity to take in the Holiday decorations. Our bartender was very friendly, and efficient, and we wanted for nothing. For us, Podium “saved the day,” as just as we finished our second wines, the HHonors reservations agent arrived with the keys to our suite.More

Booked the Chocoholics Champagne Afternoon Tea after being given a BuyAGift voucher for Christmas. Our booking was cancelled twice, first due to lockdown and the second because the restaurant, despite taking bookings, was not actually open. On arrival, we put on face masks and washed...our hands as the signs requested at the door. The restaurant staff had face masks, but not all of them bothered to wear them correctly. Some put them over their chin to talk to customers and others had their nose uncovered. If you want staff to cover their face, insist they do it properly. Our food and drinks arrived in a timely manner and the sandwiches were nice. The scones were small, but warm and fresh. We had four patisserie cakes between us, so there was a certain amount of chopping in half required. Only one was actually a chocolate cake, so hardly fitting of the ‘Chocoholics’ description. We had a couple of tea refills but no offer of extra scones, cakes or sandwiches. At the end of our meal, we got up to leave only to be presented with a bill for the service charge. Cheeky that it isn’t included and the service was hardly attentive or exceptional. Would I recommend coming here? No. The restaurant lacks atmosphere and had no redeeming features. The food was average at best. Would I have booked if I didn’t have a voucher? No. I would have gone to Fortnum & Mason down the road. Will I be coming again? No. Doubtful that anyone would make a return visit, given the lacklustre surroundings and the view of the car park.More

Website states they are now open 12.30-5pm for Afternoon tea only. Made booking over a weeks ago for my daughter's 13th birthday via there website and received confirmation of booking. Turned up with birthday girl dress to the 9's to find the whole place still...lockdown. So why does the website state they are taking bookings and allow you to do so if they are still closed? . Why was my booking confirmed? Why did no one contact me if the reservation had to be canceled? As everywhere else is only taking reservations in advanced at the moment I simply had to go back home with a Very disappointed little girl 😠😡😡😠More

I would imagine so. I would advise phoning the restaurant and ask about bringing children in the evening. The restaurant is lovely and I’m going again this week.
