Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I really enjoyed this small busy and cosy basement restaurant. Good tasting honest food, excellent service with just the right local vibe. You will feel at home here

Wow… we had booked this for a Sunday late lunch. As a group of 5 we ordered most items on the menu and they were all amazing. The steak was melt in the mouth, the monkfish and cod were very tasty and not overpowering. The...vegetable dishes were also super fresh and tasty. The staff were very hospitable & friendly and the food & wine were reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.More

I hated this restaurant a noisy cellar the dishes were a collection of mush, the flan was not a flan but a very mushy mixture of fungi ,the Cod on the bone more bone than Boney M .The onion cigar should not have left Cuba....The coffee was undrinkable at least the nice waiter agreed and replaced them n/c . I am sure 28 used to be a real tapas Spanish style . But it was very busy . My friend a Hampstead resident could not stop saying I am Sorry sorry sorry ,her choice Next time my choice .More

Definitely don’t listen Sharon S. We stumbled upon this on a Saturday at 7pm and managed to get a table at the kitchen bar seats. The waiter was really friendly and walked us through the menu after we asked how many dishes he would advise...us ordering. We had some lovely cocktails, tapas, really amazing scallops and a whole seabass. Definitely a little gem in Hampstead and it was great to watch the chefs at work.More

Unwelcoming , unfriendly disgracefully discriminatory! At the entrance, advised that the council inspect the plates we would be ordering. Sternly addressed restaurant guidelines, dictated at the entrance, barely hello or good evening let alone a welcoming smile (?!) , even before barely entering the restaurant....Had the hosts been more warm, or possibly even welcoming my guest and I would consider dining. Disgustingly discriminated at the entrance for no just reason, in the most patronising way - advised "policy here is ordering a main dish and " whilst they stood firmly obstructing the view of the restaurant - slowing pushing us out. Won’t be coming back or recommending this restaurant. I was then nastily and sadly told that what I encountered as my own memorable experience, was not possible to have happened. For your information, I have receipt of payment and your dismissing my experience is called gaslighting. Thanks for the heads up to never return to your disgracefully discriminatory restaurant.More

went here when the restaurant first started , liked the intimacy but found the menu rather narrow . now it has expanded its offering and i have had 2 excellent dining experiences in the last couple of months - not only in hampstead but elsewhere...in london we sat in the very cosy private dining area , service friendly and intelligent . pan con tomate with iberico ham , delicious , cod fillet, scallop s , a series of small plates all perfectly realised , not tried larger plates such as sea bass a la plancha ,ribe eye steak , so we have here a very interesting menu with things you want to eat , cooked very well with plenty of flavour, in an intimate warm setting . you can book for lunch but just turn up for dinner , no booking - but we did this twice for an evening meal had to sit once at the bar whilst a table was found (no harship[) recommended .More

What a charming little hidden Gem. Tucked into the basement of its Georgian facade, this quirky little restaurant and bar offers tasty Tapas themed sharing boards with good wine and lovely staff. My friend and I didn’t catch our servers name but she was just...lovely. As was my glass of Port.More

A great place to meet friends. A delicious sharing menu. Friendly staff. Open plan dining with the kitchen in view. Can only book one large table the rest are first come first served but the owner is very accommodating.

An interesting place, centrally located in Hampstead. An interior basement restaurant with lovely decor and the option for groups of a private room. The staff were excellent. Kat our waitress was superb: helpful, patient, informative and charming. She made our visit. The food itself was...tasty but portions are very small. An example was the pork spare ribs which for £11 provided two bare bones and a 1 inch square piece of pork - delicious but ridiculously small. The octopus was superb - really tasty and slightly larger portion than other items we chose. There was a focus on peppers so if you don't like them choices was limited. Not great for vegetarians / vegans if you don't like pepper. The food is very tasty - just not really adequate sizes. Glad we went. We had a lovely time but probably unlikely to go back sadly.More

I haven't written a review on here for a while but felt compelled to after having such a lovely evening at 28 Church Row. The interior was lovely, we were given a choice of tables. The staff were all really friendly and went out of...their way to help when we mentioned a nut allergy. Food was delicious. And we dined next to a celebrity. Great evening all round, I wish I'd discovered it earlier!More

Lovely monthly menu based on local, seasonal selections. This hidden gem is almost too good to tell others about but they deserve all the praise!

Very high-quality and fresh tapas-style cuisine, with a welcome and far greater emphasis on vegetables than you would find in Spain. Nice wines too. The only drawback is that reservations cannot be made in the evening (why?), only at lunchtime at weekends.

If it’s available they have a private room that was allocated to us when we went on a Sunday lunchtime. We were a group of 6 and I think we reserved, so it’s probably worth ringing up in advance. 8 will easily fit in that... More
