This pub was close to my hotel as I was walking to get something to eat, I noticed the Rose and Crown off a side street. Looked inviting but didn't stop then. Came by another night and ducked in for a drink. Very nice pub,...not crowded like the others around, really like a neighborhood pub. People were friendly and atmosphere inviting. Good place to go out of the crowds with friends.More
After having recently moved into the area, my partner and I decided to try this pub on the way home from work one evening. It was extremely welcoming, with a great selection of drinks to choose from. Staff were well presented and service was great!...We’ll be back :)More
Glad we found this place. It really is a hidden gem. Good quality drinks and serce with smile. Will be back
This traditional pub is near several tourist haunts, including Tate Modern, but is surprisingly hidden away. Old-fashioned interior, large beer garden and good range of traditional ales make this well worth a visit, especially if you want to avoid too many visitors!
Great little pub with a surprising amount of space internally. Love how it has managed to retain it's location amongst the high rise buildings surrounding it. A stubborn piece of history well worth a visit just because of that.
Pretty average pub, selection of beer is relatively poor (Shepherds Neame brewery), however for the fan of Kentish ales - not too bad. It used to have Goldings Ale on tap, but that is no more. Very little space inside, but has the 1st floor...tables. Food is bad, not recommended at all. If you must - don't venture beyond a simple bowl of chips. It's not as busy as Kings Arms on Roupel St or anything closer to Waterloo station.More
We visited yesterday a lovely lively pub with lots of young people going on a Friday night after work and people like us wandering around the area. From an original Landlord some years ago we learnt that during WW2 in the blitz all around that...pub was bombed and flattened including the Church next door however the pub survived and not a pane of glass was broken and got the nickname 'the German Pub'. As we were discussing with the Landlord my partner who was an Engineering Lecturer added that because of its design being the way it was geometrically set may have deflected the shock waves from the nearby bombing.More
Decent pub but the food is ridiculously priced. Absolutely livid to be paying £4.95 for one portion of Lamb Koftes only to be given Exactly one tiny kebab... Absolutely ridiculous!! Extortionate prices! DONT BUY ANY FOOD FROM HERE.
We had a good evening. Nice traditional feeling pub in a nice hidden location. It made s nice change from the ram packed bars nearby. But the food was really bad. A "tasting menu" of 3 items for £13.95. One of the items was chips...because they'd run out of other things! It's repeating on me as I write! Seemed like frozen food fried. I'd go back for the pub but definitely not the foodMore
Looking for lunch with a work colleague one sunny day near the Oxo tower, we came across the Rose and Crown. More specifically, we came across the beer garden for the Rose and Crown, a luxury in itself in central London, and there were spare...tables in the sun. Perfect. We didn't sit inside, but it seemed airy and pleasant, modernised without losing old fashioned charm. To steal from another review site, it's a bit like a country pub has been dropped into south London. The food was straightforward and well cooked. The staff were proactive and helpful, and the beer was fine. We're losing lots of these pubs nowadays; it's a shame pecause this was a good stop. It would be the perfect destination for tourists looking for a genuine British pub without the tourist hordes.More
