Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very nice establishment. Having walked into the cosy front bar, we were surprised how roomy it was beyond that. But even so, a nice intimate and friendly atmosphere, especially on a cold January afternoon. It helps that dogs are welcome – always a good way to strike up a conversation and meet people!
Moving on to the bar – great selection of ales, from light golden to ...er...really...peanut butter stout? Actually really rather delicious! I came back for more of that bad boy! I was offered tastes of the different ales that took my interest without asking – definitely a good thing because it shows pride and enthusiasm for their products. I don’t take undue advantage of that and appreciate the gesture from any establishment willing to educate their customers in the range of flavoursome opportunities. By the same token, my wife says the South African Chenin she chose was excellent.
We were impressed by the friendly staff and customers – all very sociable – the atmosphere in the pub was great, both in the late afternoon and the early evening when we returned (yes, for a second visit later in day!)
This pub is definitely dog friendly because they actually have, not only water bowls for canine visitors, but also a good supply dog biscuits!
Negatives? The front bar can be a little cold and draughty and the various hard surfaces cause noise levels to rise unless there are enough human bodies present to absorb the acoustics. If you’re down from the Midlands, £12.10 for a large dry white wine and two halves of ale does sting, but it’s not as expensive as elsewhere!
The food looked very good, although we didn’t try it. If there is gluten free fare available please do make every effort to advertise the fact. Believe me, that effort is appreciated and will encourage coeliac customers like my wife.

I love this pub. I've had sunday roasts in probably every pub in the Putney and Wandsworth area and this is by far the best one I've had. Add to that the excellent selection of wines and superbly kept ales and I was on to a winner. The music was exactly what I wanted on a sunday afternoon (late 50s, early 60s classics), the staff were friendly and welcoming, and they had a great couple of Chesterfields by the fire for a closing glass of vino. A wonderful pub and somewhere I'll be visiting regularly on a sunday afternoon.

Recommended to my grand-daughter for five family members to give grandad a traditional Sunday lunch. (plenty of other offerings available as well) and it was excellent. Unusual these days. Beef tender, good quantities and vegetables cooked just right. One of us was Vegan and thoroughly enjoyed her meal.
Serving staff efficient and friendly.
A good choice!

This is a pub that used to be the focal point of the community, buzzing with people, renowned for its good food and wine. After so long in the Covid vacuum, we went to the POW as we call it for a Sunday roast, looking forward to being able to once again show off our local pub to our friends and family. However, never have we been so disappointed by the quality of a Sunday roast. It was tasteless, loveless and actually quite embarrassing. The beef was overcooked low quality fare. The gravy was the worst we’ve ever had. No taste, seasoning, skill or love. Veg and potatoes were soggy. Yorkshire pud was the only beacon of light. The wine list was light on decent options and the Malbec we ordered for £30 was a £7/8 bottle from the cash and carry. Our bill came to a hefty £100 of utmost disappointment. Profit over quality seems to be the new motto. Pretty soon there may be no motto if basic values and skills aren’t quickly restored. Will be taking friends and family elsewhere.

Saturday lunch for 14 people for my son's 18th, with guests including my elderly parents and the dog! Very well organised, including accommodating last minute drop outs. Food was excellent. Service was charming. Great pub.

Cannot fault the absolutely delightful staff. They were all very special. Could not have been more attentive or helpful. However my chicken schnitzel was three quarters inedible. My friend’s burger was no more than “ok”. We paid our bill and I told the person taking the bill (having paid it) that as an “observation not a complaint” about the chicken. She immediately disappeared - me saying “I’ve paid and don’t want a refund” she came back with a credit to my card. This was unexpected and not reason for my comment. However from the service point of view this response was excellent.
The environment was good with plenty of space between tables .

We were one of the earliest in, at 1pm. This pub hasn’t really changed in at least a decade, since Fergus and his superb wine list first put it on the map. We've tried it every few years since and were always disappointed, until now.
Food took about 15” in an almost empty restaurant but arrived hot and abundant. Two thick cut and large slices of excellent quality sirloin with carrots, parsnips, broccoli and crispy potatoes. The vegetables were perfect, just slightly al dente, and the gravy - unusually - was even better than ours.
The restaurant part was filling up by the time we finished, with a cross section of couples, families and groups of friends. We booked our next Sunday lunch before leaving.

Wonderful place. So thrilled to see staff back again. 2 lovely evening meals last few days, plus drinks a few lunch times.
Amazing, friendly service. Lovely food ....loved sea bass and ratatoille.
They are doing so well with coronavirus rules, but still managing to make it feel a welcoming place to come to. Thank you to you all.

It happens to be my local but I’ve got very frustrated with this place after years of trying. There’s hardly ever anywhere to sit and if you do manage to do so, you’re sitting in a corridor - it’s not a relaxing environment. The whole pub is one big corridor.

Booked a table for lunch with a friend this week although there was plenty of space when we arrived so could pick a spot to sit at. A friendly welcome and COVID precautions were clear (hand sanitiser at the door, distancing measures by the bar, one way system in place) Food from a scaled back menu was good. Staff were friendly, chatty and attentive. Glad to have this as my local!

Ben and his team are second to none! Always welcoming, friendly and efficient
The POW is our local and we have supported them through out the pandemic.. And it is so pleasing to see them get back on their feet and the old place getting back the buzz they were always famous for.
I would highly recommend the POW for its atmosphere, good beer and wines.
You can expect a warm welcome.

I went to Prince of Wales, SW15 for Sunday lunch and enjoyed my roast beef.
Very generous portion of roast beef and vegetables.
The beef was successful and pink in the middle.
The quality matches some of the central London pubs.
Good to have a gastropub on my doorstep.

Went for a drink on 13th April. So great to be back again at this amazing local. Very good covid handling but, most of all, wonderful staff who feel like our friends. Highly professional and warm and welcoming.
You are doing a great job all of you. Ben, Jean, Rob, Manny and Julia. Thank you.

Abysmal customer service .
The second time I have been where the staff are obnoxious, arrogant and rude. Manners cost nothing. If you want a friendly pub then I would avoid this one!
