I booked high tea at the Ritz and paid 158 pounds for two people with champagne. The whole experience was good but the cakes served and scones were not good. I couldn't eat the scones - they were pathetic. Don't expect too much when you visit.

The whole experience was superb. The setting was excellent as were the staff who made you feel comfortable in a rarified surrounding. Food was top drawer and in plentiful supply . An experience that will last long in the memory.

We to Took my Nan and my mum for their Christmas presents. They had the most wonderful experience from car doors being open to see it being poured out and drinks poured for you. A special luxury for those who don't often receive it . The pianist was amazing and gave us some CDs the door staff gave us an... More

I can remember growing up, the stories of the Ritz. How they would clean you money so that it wouldn't stain your gloves. How having tea at the Ritz was a rite of passage in many circles, an honored tradition. So it was at the top of the list for our London trip. Special outfits bought, table scheduled months in... Afternoon tea at the ritz, what could be more british? I have to say by the time you have got through the sandwiches, the pastries, the scones and the cakes you may need to tale a walk!! All the food was as you would expect ,freshly made and served to perfection with tea or coffee served in gold pots, the... More

I was so looking forward to coming for Afternoon Tea as it was my first time at the ritz. Unfortunately it turned out to be the worst experience ever mainly due to terrible service and the food. Our server, called Cosmai Pasquale, was extremely rude. At first he served the two other people on my table, asking them if they... More

The Ritz "TR", The Berkeley "TB" COST: I believe TR was a bit more but that could have changed by now. SERVICE: TR wins. You can't beat the white gloved servers that don't let you lift a finger and constantly pour your tea for you! At TB, they poured our initial cup and then pretty much left us alone for... More

I have always wanted tea at The Ritz so we splurged for my big birthday, worth every penny. Luxury personified. Staff are so wonderful. Friendly and not at all intimidating like some establishments. Food was lovely and plentiful, they were offering you more of everything all the time. For a special occasion it is a really fabulous treat.

We were a group of 8 (plus a little one) for afternoon tea. Very much a tourist trap, the sandwiches and cakes were very average. The table we were given was far too small and meant that the waiters had to keep leaning in to us which was very awkward and there wasn't enough room on the table for everything.... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
