Sadly, when we got to the terrace restaurant at 1.30pm, there were no tables available. The moral is to book beforehand. Perhaps next time we shall be able to review the food and service. One week ago, we found the food at Tim's Deli was excellent.

I have been here a lot over summer and I love it. Service can be slow at times but it's forgivable because it's a lovely setting and has good wine and food. I will continue to visit regularly as it is my work local.

We went for an early evening meal at Tom's Kitchen Somerset House. Slow service and food not great. Mussels on the Menu in September? The food was mediocre and warm but edible. The English sparkling wine wasn't great, on the other hand the Chardonnay from Chablis was great. The staff were not aware most of the time but when they... More

After visiting some of the current exhibitions at Somerset House, a friend and myself just wanted a light refreshing drink on the terrace. The waitress took our orders from the table and asked if we wanted to open a tab or pay as we go, we chose not to opt for a tab as it'd only be a couple of... More

A good spot for an outdoor drink in the Strand area. Remember that after 6 pm you can't go through Somerset House so you need to approach from Waterloo Bridge either from Waterloo or the Strand. Wine by the glass is £5.50 - 8.50. Service is a bit erratic. There are limited bar snacks - our triple cooked chips £3.50... More

I was here last night for a friend's birthday. The terrace is a perfect spot for catching up with friends, outdoors, with a great vibe. I will certainly be back.

This was a much anticipated return visit, but the first this year, and may be the last this season. The menu alterations are disappointing, much better to have stayed with last year's offerings which were, in the main, fantastic. The staff are willing but seem untrained in comparison to those in the main building. I do not want a waiter... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
