Conveniently located on Sloane Square, the Botanist offers a relaxing atmosphere, a nice selection on the menu and an eclectic wine list with some gems. Efficient and smiling staff, which is definitely a plus.

We arrived on time but waited for ever before a waiter came to see us and to give us the menu. Many dishes were not available for some reasons, so we had to take was was possible to take ! The various starters were OK...but of very low quality, My beef chick was awful, it was smelling not good and i could not finish it. I had beef chicks in a lot of different places before but this dish had something wrong. As a whole, this lunch was a bad experience for us.More

Bustling atmosphere. We were quickly seated, the restaurant area wasn’t particularly busy when we arrived, at first the waiter was attentive. Food and drink arrived fairly quickly. The cocktail menu choice was quite limited in comparison with other Botanists I’ve visited, this was a shame...as this is the main reason I choose to visit The Botanist. However, the Slingsby Rhubard and the Rum punch were lovely cocktails. The roast corn fed chicken breast with truffle was delicious and my friend enjoyed the slow braised beef cheeks. The sticky toffee pudding was light and the baked raspberry cheek cake was a delight. I wouldn’t give 5 stars as the drinks and food were a little over priced, and as the restaurant became busier the waiter almost vanished. However, I would return.More

We had booked for a late lunch, but our table was not ready when we arrived, so we ordered a drink at the bar while we waited. Once seated, it took some time for our order to be taken, and then a full hour before...our food was served. In fairness, the quality of the food was very good. After another hour no-one had come to clear our dishes, or ask if we would like dessert, so we paid our bill, took a leisurely stroll along King's Road, and enjoyed an excellent gelato at Amerino, where, I am pleased to report, the service was superb. We will be back, but not to the Botanist.More

This restaurant is pleasing inside and a great location, but the food is extremely poor. We all had the scallops to start, a bizarre mixture appeared on our plates, well cooked but small scallops accompanied by celeriac and a lump of extremely cold congealed mess...of mashed bacon mixed with something extremely sweet. Totally overpowering the delicate flavour of the scallops, the flavours didn’t work together. My lemon sole was overcooked and not as fresh as it could be. The rib-eye steak overcooked and tough. Lobsters average at best. Wines uninspiring. The only 5 star part was the extremely good waiter, who was excellent.More

We went as a small group of 3 for bottomless brunch. 20 mins into our allocated 2hrs we had not been served a drink. We placed our food order 45 mins in. The only reason for even waiting that long was because we had to...flag down about 4 members of staff for this to happen. Staff were everywhere and it was easy to get somebody's attention but although they kept nodding and acknowledging, nothing was happening!! We ordered Padron peppers as a 'nibble'. These took forever to arrive to the point i thought they were going to arrive with the starters! I felt i had to moan again to receive them. They came and they were v v nice. Thankfully starters arrived later. The staff were all v polite and i think a manager popped over and he was extremely pleasant and friendly and reassured me that we would not have to vacate our table at 4pm (the end of our 2hr slot) as that was my worry as at 3.15pm we had not even had our starters. Luckily we were in no rush with nowhere to be. Starters arrived and these looked awful - Presentation and quality i have better at home! I'm pretty sure they were like this due to being in the bottomless brunch as the prices if paying normally were pretty high!! Mains arrived and my friend enjoyed her burger meal, my cod meal was actually v nice but my other friend said her chicken was v dry. To be fair, i knew chicken breast would arrive dry which is why i avoided ordering that. We asked for a side of potatoes - these were £5!! I asked would they serve 2 people and the waiter said, no 1. Against his judgement i ordered 1 portion. I knew it, it was big and easily served 2 and we had a couple left over! Atmosphere was extremely lively and busy. We made friends with the tables next to us and ended up having a great laugh and a great time. I'm tempted to come back again but the food quality not being consistent and the extremely slow service getting our 1st drink will put us off. But we might try once more to see if it was a 1 off ;-)More

i want to know whether it is legal to charge upfront so if one doesnt want to ruin ones day one has to grin and bear it,being served 35 pence worth of gingerbeer in a disposable rubbish plastic cup 50% filled with ice, for £6.50...not even a glass? and "NIBBLES" THAT COST 80 PENSE FOR 4 TIMES AS MANY AT ANY SUPERMARKET FOR £4.50...THESE 6 OR N7 TINY NIBBLES OF WHEAT IN A TINY SINGLE ESPRESSO PAPERCUP! a total scandal £19.80 ...with a glass of ok wine for £10 (not 5, not 7, not £9!)....its possibly illegal to charge upfront, and the unhygenic way the menus were stacked upfront is also a scandal...and the fact that one didnt get a bill outlining what one ordered, just the creditcard receipt, is that also possibly illegal?....the whole operation is like tourist ripoff, years ago, but no one does this kind scam anymore except that we've noticed except the botanist. a real shock. thankfully ive lived here in w11 55 years, if i were travelling through it would've ruined a day in london.do the licensing authorities. allow this, ? we want some kind of rational response please, perhaps that this was an outrage perpetrated by aberrant staff. but dont blame the staff if its house policy.
