Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have wanted to visit here for a long time and finally we came! We were warmly welcomed by Getenesh. The food was delightful and authentic. Quite a spice kick to the beef dish, but balanced by the vegetarian mix of lentils, split peas and...greens. The injera bread was fab. Easy to get to from Fleet Street area on number 17 bus, or if you are on the Piccadilly line.More

This one woman show fails to disappoint. Feeling more than satiated after my 6th visit, I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you want very reasonably priced, delicious home cooked grub, while feeling like you are being wrapped in a blanket by your adopted mother...for the evening, then this is the place for you. If you are willing, the cultural exchange is on point. Wasted food is not acceptable, so eat up or you may be chased out with a broom.More

Always enjoy the food at Kokeb. It’s authentic & truly delicious. The owner is a delightful lady. Would recommend minchet abish (non veg) & missir (vegan)

I cannot recommend this place enough. It's tasty. It's reasonably priced. It's authentic, home made food. But most importantly, it's the lady who works there that makes this place. Not only does she work hard to cook and wait herself, but she does so with...a caring and human attitude that makes you feel like you are visiting family for dinner. Carry on Kokeb, I will definitely be back! PD: I also really appreciated how COVID safe the place was. I was a bit worried going to a restaurant for the first time after restrictions ended, but the owner was wearing a mask the whole time and was super considerate. Thank you!More

The restaurant is decorated in Ethiopian style and immediately makes you feel like you are in Ethiopia. The owner of the restaurant, Getenesh, takes extreme care of her restaurant, customers and the dishes she cooks, and has been able to welcome us with warmth and...hospitality. The restaurant is extremely clean and sanitized, tables are well distanced and Getenesh always wears a face mask: I felt extremely safe from Covid in her restaurant. Guided by her recommendations, we took the Vegetarian Super Combination, Key Minchet Abish and Doro Wot, all of which were exquisite and carefully served. Very fair prices considering the quantity and quality of food served. So, I strongly advise you to try this restaurant and get Getenesh to advise you on the dishes to try. Even if compared to other places in London it might be a bit inconvenient to reach, I assure you that it is absolutely worth it.More

I love Kokeb, the food is always so so good!! And it’s run by the kindest warmest woman. It has even become a regular for us to get as takeaway during lockdown, stays good because the flavours marinate. Our favourites we get are the Doro...Wot, Veg combo, and Key Minchet abish. I agree with the other reviews on here, this place is special!!More

I had been looking for a good Ethiopian restaurant in my area, and decided to try Kokeb after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, and I'm so glad we visited. The place was single-handedly run by Getenesh, who was incredibly helpful and recommended some great dishes...for us to try. If you're looking for somewhere special for a date night or dinner with a few friends, I would definitely recommend.More

What an amazing restaurant. Family run and you can taste the food is made with love. Inexpensive food worth much more. Try Kobek for your first Ethiopian experience. It actually feels like a home stay in Ethiopia itself.

We had a fantastic experience at Kokeb; great hospitality from Getenesh, who runs the entire operation seemingly single-handedly while still giving each and every customer her full care and attention. Having never eaten Ethiopian cuisine before, she was happy to explain the menu and make...recommendations for us and to demonstrate the 'natural fork', Injera. We can't compare this to any other Ethiopian restaurants as this was our first time eating at one, but we found Kokeb to serve delicious, filling food and decent beer with great service at a very reasonable price - overall, a lovely experience! We have been meaning to try Kokeb for a number of years and I'm only sorry we didn't do so sooner. We will certainly be back.More

I visited here for a meal after reading all the positive reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. I was met by Getenesh and what a lovely lady she is. So welcoming and warm. The food was amazing as was the service. And a little education on...how to eat properly with the injera. Thank you so much for a wonderful welcome and experience.More

We have visited Ethiopia four times in the past but have only tried authentic Ethiopian food once, so we thought we’d give this a try and we were extremely surprised. The service was first class and the food was excellent. We were treated to a...lesson on how best to enjoy our meal and had a recommended choice suggested which was thoroughly enjoyed by all four of us. We traveled from Kent to get there and will definitely return. Highly recommend Kokeb!More

Authentic family traditional restaurant serving delicious homemade food. I had Injera with Beef and Coke to drink, my friend had Injera with Chicken and Mango Nectar to drink. We enjoyed experiencing Ethiopian food, something different and the restaurant is beautifully decorated in Ethiopian decor. One...person manages the place and does all the cooking, made to order, fresh and tasty dishes.More
