I found this restaurant on an internet search for Indian food near Chancery Lane. It is tucked away in a quiet alleyway off The Strand, very close to the law courts. Myself and two old friends travel to London from time to time from our...more distant locations. This was a pleasant surprise. We arrived around 2:15 pm and had the set menu lunch, good value for the price. The tikka starters, both meat and panir, were excellent. The curries that followed were full of flavour. The service was both courteous and attentive. We will go there again on our next reunion in a month or two.More

Visited on what we hoped might be a relatively quiet early Thursday evening to discover the restaurant was in a basement and on arrival there was only one other table occupied. Problem was, that table was 6/7 very noisy, sweary and very drunk people. Lots...of shouting, singing, loud and raucous laughter, and despite our comments about it to the staff, nothing was done nor was any real apology offered. Other concern was the lack of Covid protocols. No contact details collected or QR code for the NHS app available. Also, worryingly the staff didn’t wear facemasks or really seem bothered about being Covid aware. One waiter did make a half hearted effort with a mask about halfway through our time there. To be fair, the food and service was fine, but I don't think we'll return if in the area again.More

I visited as a group of three friends on a Friday evening. The service was excellent. As we are just emerging from lockdown, the waiting staff wore masks and everything was Covid secure. Two of our group asked for dishes not on the menu. They...were very happy to cook this especially for us. The food was delicious, and we all really enjoyed our meals. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and look forward to return again soon.More

We were staying in Fleet street and needed a bite on our last evening, nearby and in the pouring rain. Have to admit the name didnt do much and when the signs kept pointing us around another corner, and then down some stairs, I was...doubtful. But I needn't have been. The service and staff were great and the food very good.Portions, taste and relaxed atmosphere made for a very reasonable meal and just a shame that Fleet street isn't local for us. Would definitely recommend.More

Full of noisy lawyers who probably find it ridiculously cheap. But for average Joe Public like me, £30 for starter, main, nan & beer is a bit pricey. But this is the City. But the food. Wow. Great lamb tikka starter and then an absolutely...delicious Chicken Nawabi.More

A group of 7 of us descended on this restaurant having spent the earlier part of the day watching 6 Nations rugby in a nearby pub. Fortunately one of our party knew where to find this place which was quite well hidden from view down...a back street. We walked tentatively down stairs into a rather murky/dingy basement like room (did this used to be a night club back in the 60s?) and wondered why we had been so careful to book in advance. On this particular Saturday evening the place was more or less deserted. At least we had a choice of where to sit and the full attention of the restaurant staff. First up on on the menu for us was a generous round of Kingfisher beers - let's face it we hadn't had a drink since we left the pub 10 minutes or so beforehand. Of course we had to have a large pile of poppadoms and pickles to get us into the culinary spirit. Amongst the 7 of us, we ordered quite a wide range of food. My suggestion to go for onion bhajis was met with a lot of enthusiasm and they were delicious. I personally followed these with a chicken vindaloo and pulao rice - not bad but could have been spicier. Everybody else seemed to enjoy their food and agreed that it tasted quite authentic - at least British style Indian food. Service was very polite and the staff coped well with our alcoholic hazed banter. I recall that the restrooms were reasonably clean and patience was displayed at the end when we asked for the final bill to be split 7 ways. Not a bad way to end a perfect Saturday.More
