Osteria Romana has earned a reputation for exceptional service, with guests frequently lauding the staff for their celebratory touches, including birthday songs and complimentary desserts; there has been a rare mention of an order mishap. The authentic Italian dishes, particularly the carbonara and bucatini amatriciana, receive high praise for their flavors. While the ambiance is described as cozy and warm, creating an intimate dining experience, some diners have commented on the space feeling slightly cramped. Although the restaurant's offerings are considered authentic and delicious, a few guests note that the prices can feel steep, particularly given its central London location.

- Bawy was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the menu, taking us through each dish patiently - Mario was a brilliant waiter, with the finest service in all of London, full of humour and recommendations - Food was incredible: oxtail ragu, veal meatballs, spaghetti bolognese all were delicious

An enjoyable evening spent at Osteria Romana; and it certainly lives up to the reviews you will see below. The waiter was knowledgable in both recommendations on food & wine and neither of these disappointed. The portions are of good size and the food is as native to Italy as you will find in West London! Also thank you to the Manager for holding our reservation slightly longer than he possibly should have - that was appreciated!

I was taken out for my birthday by my husband. First impressions - a friendly, intimate restaurant. I had the parmigiana and my husband the spaghetti pomodoro as starters followed by the beef and sea bass. All were very good and delicious. Generous portions and attentive service. As it was a treat, the cost was of less consideration. However, if you were thinking of eating here regularly then I guess if you can afford to live in Knightsbridge then you’ll not worry about affordability! Nice touch - the basil and oil to go with the bread, the sweet jar to go with coffee and a glass of limoncello with the bill. If we could make a couple of suggestions; the music was a tad loud for us and we often had to repeat what we’d just said. And secondly, thicker chunks of bread would have been our preference. But I guess that’s a personal choice. Overall I’d rate this place and would return. Roll on my next birthday.

Knightsbridge hype. Saw great reviews all Ofer the place and really don’t understand why. Overpriced and food is bang average. The carbonara was too salty, lobster spaghetti (£28) was good but barely any lobster. Lamb chops were cooked nicely but so skinny (£28). £20 for bland cacio e pepe is a joke. Bancone is so so much better.

Food is far from what we expected in a high end Italian restaurant, not delicious and somewhat sophisticated to simple Italian you would know. I should have started with prices, absolutely inadequate prices, very very expensive in comparison to what you get. Very overrated place. I would just complement the service, both service men were caring.

Food first: The pasta was not particularly special or anything I’d crave a second time. We did enjoy the texture of the pasta, but the sauces were underwhelming. You’re definitely paying for location/ambiance, not quality food. The service was beyond terrible I felt compelled to review. I was dining with a large group of South Asian people (relevant). We passed by the restaurant the night before our dinner, and were excited by the location and ambiance outside (which is not reflected inside). Our waiter had a irritated and unwelcoming greeting upon arrival. He asked us what our drink order would be and we asked for a red wine recommendation. He said he didn’t know because he was a beer drinker. We asked what he would suggest to others and he said he couldn’t say because they carried a large variety of wine. He had not given us a wine list at this point. He then asked what we liked, and before answering he said: “I’m assuming something easy to drink and cheap.” His attitude the whole night, this comment, and actions like correcting pronunciation are blatant examples of racist behavior. We asked why he refused to offer a recommendation or any guidance with the wine list and he double down on his actions until we brought up the “cheap” comment. It’s no secret that any allusion to association with racist staff makes businesses nervous. His attitude quickly changed when we said we were offended by this comment in particular. This was truly beyond an unfriendly waiter. I could write a much longer review detailing other ways he ruined our meal. All this to say, there is not a single reason I would suggest this restaurant to anyone. Maybe as a joke?

Don’t go here. At first it seemed nice- the manager/ owner was helpful finding us a table. But once we were seated the experience became awful! The service was rude- I asked if the trip was cooked with tomato, like alla Fiorentina. Manager/ owner “No”. The waitress in a bra top then added “I’d not recommend it”. Me : I asked how it is cooked. You didn’t answer my question. And at the end I asked to see the itemised bill. The waiter said “why?”. We were just leaving when the manager/ owner came running out saying we were undercharged. But instead of apologising he just demanded the extra. I could not believe it! Absolutely the rudest man I’ve met in the service industry. I felt so bad for my uncle who is so polite and dutifully paid the extra. I told him we had asked for the itemised bill, and he interrupted me rudely, even though he was agreeing. Sure it was hot and busy but given you’re charging £15-30 per basic pasta dish they ALL needed better training. And basic manners. Honestly, just avoid this place. I know Knightsbridge is sadly short or good eating places, but don’t put up with such bad service.

If you like Italian food and culture, this little gem will not disappoint you; it was me and my friend’s first time and as an Italian, it felt very home-like. The food was great - the pasta was cooked to perfection, which is not that common, and portions are very generous. The place is fairly small inside making it really intimate; the atmosphere is lovely and the staff is very friendly and courteous. A special mention goes to David who simply made our night with his very friendly yet professional attitude, the jokes and laughs as well as the menu recommendations - he definitely made us want to come back to try the rest of the menu :) So if you love Italy and most of all my city, Rome, you definitely don’t want to miss going to Osteria Romana!

Absolutely stunning venue. Food very mediocre sadly. Service haphazard. Wine over priced yet nothing special. One waiter seemingly had no problem leaning over as he delivered and/or cleared food. Music amazing. Would I return? Definitely not.

The service was outstanding, the waiters were caring and informative when we asked questions. Complimentary bread and olive was delicious. We asked if the pasta could be a different shape and it wasn’t a problem, added chilli to the order too and they obliged happily. The portions were big and very filling too. The dessert of tiramisu was massive and soooo delicious! Cannot wait to come back again! The venue is small and intimate, perfect for date night and love the decor

Went the 11th of February 2024 with a friend of mine at dinner time. Being Italians we started to miss food from home and got recommended this place by a work colleague of ours, Italian as well. When we came the place was crowded but the waiter managed to find a free spot for the two of us after a short wait. The menu offers dishes mainly from the Lazio region, where, apart from the universally known carbonara, you can also find less known dishes like pasta alla gricia, trippa (tripe) and coda alla vaccinara (oxtail). At a first glance, the menu may seem small but, as we say in Italy: "meglio pochi ma buoni". As soon as you take your seat, a waiter brings a little basket of bread and pours olive oil and freshly cut basil on a mini pan, spreading a nostalgic aroma of basil and bread as you're looking at the menu. All of the staff we've been talking to where Italians, all of them extremely friendly and willing to have a chat (time permitting) and exchange a few jokes. As a main course I ordered the Trippa alla romana (tripe in tomato sauce) while my friend a classic carbonara, and a rocket salad and a cicoria as a contorno. The food arrived after a reasonable time, time which is usually spent to chat with the person you're having dinner with and snack on bread and olive oil. As we were waiting, I started to have a deeper look at the interior design of the place: the lamps directed towards the wall give the place a warm and intimate, almost romantic, atmosphere. The mixture of dark browns, brick and whites of all the elements that form the interior -from the ceiling to the wood chairs- give you the illusion to be eating in a small osteria that you've casually come across as you're strolling along the alleys of Trastevere. My trippa was served on a pan with two slices of bread. The flavours were not too overwhelming and I could taste a subtle hint of mint which gave the dish a touch of freshness. Afterwards we ordered a tiramisú, which came on a mug. I really liked the mascarpone, but I found the savoiardi a little too hard to my taste (which is not a critic, just a personal preference: de gustibus). We really enjoyed the experience, even though we found the place a little bit expensive in case you're looking for a proper full meal experience consisting of antipasto, primo or secondo, dolce, caffè e ammazza caffè and vino. But of course everything must be contextualised and consider that being in central London prices are naturally higher that you could find in Italy.

This restaurant is my new favourite in London. The staff is incredibly helpful and funny, the ambiance is amazing, feels very cozy and intimate, and they’re playlist just puts you in a good mood. The food is really good, we had a pinsa as a starter that was amazing and two pasta dishes that were delicious and a really big portion size. Their ice cream was also incredible. The location is really lovely, in a tiny street in Nightsbridge. Mario was really fun as well!

Came with daughter last minute booking. We live in Italy so when we travel I do not want to just eat italian but she likes home cuisine best as she does not like to experiement. She persuaded me and i am very happy that she did because WOW! they did amazing and Mario was the star. food was delicious and great vegetarian options. We spent looong time sitting around after having a nice chat and they did not mind or come around all the time trying us to spend more or anything. just checked every once a while if all is good just EXCEPTIONAL employees. Very happy that we came to this place.

Have been coming to this restaurant since my friend took me here over 4 years ago. It is one of my go to Italian restaurants in London. Have brought so many people here, including my Italian family, and everyone loves it. The food is incredible as well as the location. The staff are always nice and take great care of you. Huge shout out to my favourite waiters David, who is great and always makes everyone laugh and have a great time. If you don't know what you want to eat, he always gives great recommendations. All the pasta dishes are delicious, and one of my personal favourites is the beef tartar. Definitely recommend to eat here if you are in the are.

We were served by Salvatore for our company lunch today. He was very attentive and helpful, food was served pretty quick and dessert is absolutely delicious! Overall good experience and Salva was very helpful in recommending wine to pair with our meal. We had oxtail and lam chops among 5 of us. The extra limoncello was really good!
