This place does their paninis really well. The fillings are fresh, well balanced and adequately proportioned. You cannot really go wrong with sandwiches in London but they team here manage to elevate them. We also had their sourdough bread with avocado open sandwich, it was a simple but satisfying option. Cappuccino is done well, hot chocolate with whipped cream is... More

The 6th biggest French city in the world could not escape having such a small bar. Staff and management show off a resolutely cool and Francophone attitude, with no pom-pom girls or much of a pretense. The familiar 'tu' was de rigueur among the French, and prefered to the more protocolar 'vous'. The decoration shows a will to escape the... More

Great little place with a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty fresh food and coffee. Feels like you've stepped into a place in Paris! A must visit for breakfast before hitting the Museum of Natural History!

Great buzz with the cafe full of Francophones in full swing. Lunched on superb fresh baguettes with delicious quality fillings. Washed down with some lovely fizz, charming owner with time to chat to his customers, many of whom seem to be regulars. Felt like lunch in Paris which was fun. Great value.

Popped in for breakfast and Raising D'etre did not disappoint. Staff was lovely, food was fresh and delicious, coffee was brilliant. And all this at a very normal price, borderline cheap for what you get. If you find yourself in that part of London, do pay them a visit. It is definitely worthwile. Something funny, we were the only non... More

Popped in here before going to the Natural History Museum on a quick visit to London. Lovely staff and great food - my husband enjoyed scrambled eggs and Cumberland sausages with sourdough baguette and I had avocado on toast with a side order of smoked salmon, which was delicious. Freshly squeezed orange juice was lovely and a cappuccino to rival... More

A nice relaxed French café on a quiet side-street. The staff were very friendly; we had scrambled eggs and coffee, both of which were tasty.

It's the most unassuming little place we discovered by chance hunting for breakfast!! The sandwiches were the best and service par excellence. The owner himself takes special interest and the whole experience was memorable. A perfect reason to smile!!

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
