Angelus was recommended by a friend for an informal business lunch and it was perfect. At lunchtime, it was fairly quiet. The food and wine was excellent and the and service attentive yet informal. I will definitely be coming back when I get the chance. If you are a real wine fan, there is an extensive list of very expensive... More

Angelus is an excellent venue for a lunch or evening gathering. The food is French-inspired and very good, with some interesting dishes (for example, duck liver creme brulee). The service is exemplary, the wine list very wide-ranging (again, some lovely, but pricey classic French wines, but also some perfectly acceptable and more reasonably priced alternatives). A quality place such as... More

Had a brilliant meal here in December. Great flavours, tremendous wines, and really down to earth, personable service. Couldn't fault anything.

This lovely restaurant has been turning out beautiful, tasty food for almost a decade now. The ingredients are seasonal and wonderfully combined, and the piece de resistance is the rich and sumptuous duck liver crème brulee. There is a very reasonable £41 three course set dinner menu, but to taste the crème brulee you have to go a la carte,... More

This is an old pub converted into a restaurant. The tables are quite tightly packed and its the sort of place where you might go with a reasonably large party but not really suited to intimate dining. The food was OK but not better than that. The service was friendly to the point of familiar.

Initial impression most favourable: former pub, good lighting, quiet though busy. Alarm bells began though when staff had to be asked to provide napkins. Service was very slow, firsr course delayed because " chef was unhappy with the mousseline and decided to start again". Main course served just before 10 - we'd arrived at 8! We were starving and ate... More

Not bd, but I came here with a big expectation. A neighbourhood restaurant in a converted pub. One of the waiters was very distant. The other was very accessible. Nice amuse bouche. Taste of the monk fish and duck were great. But the fish lacked in cuisson... it was too dry for the quality they pretended. The duck had a... More
