Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were a group of friends celebrating a friend’s birthday and first time to visit Sophie’s. What a gem this place was in the west end - great location, lovely food and drinks snd great service . The prime rib of beef was so juicy...and accompanied by a bowl of mixed vegetables including roast potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding was the perfect size and accompaniment to the meal with lashings of gravy . I am thinking of this as I write this …. We shared desserts and for me - the sticky toffee pudding was the star and another reason for me to return back to Sophie’s. A great evening was had by all 😊More

This restaurant is an oasis of proper food in a desert of fast food outlets. It is fantastic value for money which is hard to find in this day and age.Highly recommended, especially pre and post theatre which was the nature of our visit.Great central location...and premises.Buzzy bar at front and charming and comfortable seating at the rear side near the cooking fire pit, which was an interesting spectacle.Comprehensive array of steak dishes of all kinds at sensible prices.Set 2 [£18]and 3 [£21] course dinners pre 7 or post 10 for theatre goers, which we were, and very difficult if not impossible to beat.Reasonable wine list at sensible prices.Good location, good food and drink and excellent service.Above all, great value! We shall return on our next trip and recommend others do the same but not to prevent us reserving!More

Sophie’s is just around the corner from The Piccadilly Theatre, where we had just enjoyed the experience that is Moulin Rouge. We had reserved a table post theatre and were delighted with our choice. From the exterior it looked like the front of an old...fire station, but that myth was soon dispelled when a member of staff enlightened us with its previous incarnation as an adult cinema where a Mary Millington film ran for a record number of years! The interior is a joy. A central race-track-shaped sit at bar, in the middle of the dining area , has a marvellous bejewelled chandelier above it, and looks quite spectacular. It has a instantaneous friendly vibe that engulfs you and welcomes you in a metaphorical hug. We didn’t have copious amounts of time to languish, however our delightful waitress Denisa, assured us that we would have plenty of time to enjoy our visit. We sat in the elevated dining room, with a clear view of the monstrous fire pit within the kitchen where the wood cooked steaks are lovingly prepared. The elevated part of the restaurant was well ventilated and the heady and wonderful aroma of woodsmoke permeated the air. We had the steak frite and a ribeye which were sumptuously delicious and beautifully cooked to perfection. The steaks were followed by a delicious dessert and exquisite coffee, which rounded off a wonderful meal. Denisa was extremely attentive and charming, and despite the restaurant filling post theatre, attended to our every need. If you’re in the area, call in, take in the atmosphere and enjoy the beautiful food.More

After the disaster that was Lettos we looked for somewhere to end our day. We settled on Sophies in Great Windmill Street. What a difference! Here is a lively, friendly customer facing bar and restaurant with friendly dynamic staff. We were seated and our order...taken in no time...charcuterie board and then roast chicken with sides that we shared. Prepared quickly and well...the food was delicious. And our waitress had even gone to the trouble of hunting down the last bottle of a particularly excellent red wine that we wanted to try. I will definitely be coming back here. Superb placeMore

The decor of this place is fabulous! Staff super friendly. The food... We ordered the Calamari + Burrata to start, followed by a burger which we shared. The Calamari... ok it happened. Slightly weird after taste and served with a tiny segment of lemon. Maybe...add some coriander and slices of chilli or something... The Burrata was describe on the menu as 'Burrata heritage tomatoes, sourdough, basil, shallot, red wine vinegar' sounds amazing right? It was honestly inedible. It was as if the entire dish had been prepared the day before, left and forgotten about in the fridge and randomly someone thought it would be good idea to serve it to a customer. The bread was stale, cold and soggy and sat along with the Burrata in it's very own swimming pool of red wine vinegar. I didn't even realise it was served with heritage tomatoes until reading the menu again. I just saw x2 soggy red balls. Maybe serve the bread separately or something... When someone serves that standard of food, it really sets the tone sadly. As a result the burger for me was a complete right off. It's such a shame because the overall vibe was AMAZING!! Additionally all the reviews on here are AMAZING!! Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen.More

Arrived at restaurant got seated right at the entrance where the reservation terminal is. Asked to be moved to near the fire pit after seeing there were many free tables. Only to be told they don’t seat anyone there without a reservation! Eventually after they...saw me calling another restaurant, we suddenly got moved The service at best was lousy and unattentive and the food was overpriced a piece of door wedge toast was £5 and a “dirty rice” was basically an uncle bens Mexican rice - terrible! Asked for salsa verde and didn’t arrive til I was 2/3 way through my steak Cocktail were not good at all. Having just come from a cocktail bar and spending £15 there for a cocktail versus here at £14.50 was daylight robberyMore
