Came here with my steak loving friend and it was both of our first visit. We sat in the upstairs bit by the grill, which I always like as I appreciate an open kitchen.
We had a very lovely and attentive waiter who recommended us a nice bottle of wine which we ended up having 2 of.
Both of us had the fillet medium rare with peppercorn sauce (which was very tender, tasty and well cooked), 1 chips (which weren’t really great), 1 spinach (nice enough), 1 greens (boring).
We also had the brownie (very rich but tasty) and caramelised pineapple (not great)
We ended up paying £80 each. Both of us thought it was a little much especially as we have been to other places before, cheaper and just as good if not even better. To be honest, the only great thing was the meat but neither the sides or desert were good and there I have had much better ones around Soho.
Not sure if I will come back but it was also not a bad experience or a visit I regret.
Atmosphere, service and the quality of the meat was still worth it

After nearly 2 years since my last visit, I got really surprised on how the atmosphere changed in the restaurant. Used to be a regular on the Covent Garden branch (now closed) and the staff at Soho didn't make a single effort to impress. Me and my friends ordered nibles, starters and mains and everything tasted delicious and the stakes cooked to perfection. My starter came around 5 minutes after all my friends were served and I paid for a side chips that I never had with my meal. The waitress serving us seemed not to care much about our table even tho our bill was nearing £700.
I believe the management should put a bit more effort on customer service since its what made the restaurant so successful in the past. In a nutshell, it wasn't a disappointment but for the money spent it definitely should have had more attention to detail (and I'm not even being that picky).

Great steak and fries with wine for £15, good steak tartare at £12, amazing salt beef croquettes. Side portions could have been a tad bigger. Good service and lovely place. Would definitely go back!

I have just read some of the other reviews and genuinely wonder if I went to the same restaurant. We went for a late lunch as a party of 6+, started at 1.45pm. the drinks came ok, and then at that point the wheels fell off. It is as though they forgot they had anyone in. The starters eventually arrived at 2.30, my squid were cold, the padron peppers were dripping in oil, the Calçots were so bad they got left. The mains eventually arrived another 30 minutes later, my ribs were so dry I left the second piece, cold flacid chips, a wedge salad at £4.25 was a joke as they seem to have forgotten about the bagel seasoning & bacon chives. The rare Fillet steak order by my colleague was medium, and the spatchcock chicken was so dry again the majority of it was left. Three of us wanted to send the food back but really didn't have any time as by now we had been there over an hour and a half. My chair was broken, so I swapped it for another, also broken. I ate in Sophie's Chelsea about 12 months ago and remember being very underwhelmed, but this really was bad. Never going back, ever.

Before choosing a restaurant, it's always a good idea to have a look at the menu. If you're a veggie or vegan (and that's fine by the way) Don't go into a clearly meat oriented restaurant and then moan because they don't have anything you like. There are loads of vegan friendly restaurants out there, and I don't go into them and complain because they don't do Pork Chops. Right, that's that rant out of the way.
We ordered the Asado Lamb for two. "Asado" just means roasted, but that's chefs for you. The waiter took our order but came back a few minutes later to tell us that they had run out of Asado Lamb.
Now, the time to reveal that piece of information would have been at the point the menu was handed to us, not after we had ordered. None the less, the waiter asked if we would like to order an alternative. I told him that in order to arrive at Sophie's restaurant I have walk past over 100 really nice looking restaurants who probably could manage their kitchens properly and advised him that we would leave and go elsewhere.
Within less that a minute, so Asado Lamb was miraculously found lurking at the back of a fridge.
This is a tactic that restaurants use when they are running low on stock of a particular item. They tell you they don't have it in the hope that you'll order something else that they are over stocked on. They almost always do have some of the item they're short on just in case of stroppy buggers like me. To be honest, I would have fallen for it if the waiter had informed me of the Asado Lamb shortage before I had ordered and set my heart on it.
Either way, I'm glad I stuck to my guns because it was absolutely delicious. In fact asides from the tiny glitch with the ordering of the lamb, the whole meal was amazing, the service was friendly and efficient and for central London.... A three course meal for two, with a bottle of wine, for less that £100 including the tip. I thought was pretty darned reasonable. I will definitely seek it out again next time I am in London. Highly recommended.

Ate here last night and what a great find. The restaurant has an outside covered area at the front, a fab cocktail bar and a cavernous dining area. We were sat at one of the circular tables near the open kitchen and the atmosphere was great. We had a lovely waitress (unfortunately I didnt ask her name) and all the staff were friendly and helpful. 5 out of 6 of us had the classic burger, which was super tasty and the other person had steak. The house red/white wines were good for the price. We had desserts to which the birthday girl was given a candle to blow out which was a lovely touch. Would definitely visit again.

Seriously, don't put Sophies on your bucket list - GO NOW !!!!! (as you will want to go again, and again, and again.
The main restaurant has an open fire pit, sit close on a cold night, but not on a warm one, it is also great to watch the chefs hard at work. The second area is more casually seated next to the bar, and is suited to long lunches and quick dinners, the bar has high top tables you can reserve, great for post work drinks, and finally the outside area overlooking Windmill street is a great place to sit.
There is a secret door ... but where it leads to is a secret
Best food - any steak, but Ribeye and Chateaubriand for me, Bernaise to die for and proper chips.
You HAVE to, repeat HAVE to have a Sparkling Pear Martini - nice big 10 oz glass and just delicious (no lemon juice in it is the best request).
Have been visiting Sophies since it opened 17 years ago ... Cosmos on the street at the Fulham Road location, and those and Sparkling Pears ever since, I look forward to the next 17 years

Went for pre-theatre drinks and food, was pleased to see a 2 or 3 course set menu for a very reasonable price. All the food looked and smelled excellent. Great service by Hannah and Oscar. Thanks for a great evening.

When me & my husband visited London we would always head to Sophies at Covent Garden.
We were most disappointed when this one shut.
But we have found you again more by chance, but we will be returning again for sure when we are in London!!
The steak is to die for! Not many places these days cook the steak right. But Sophies know how!
It just melts in your mouth, so tender, juicy & full of flavour.
This is why we keep coming back.
The pre theatre meals are of great value for the quality you receive.
The service is very friendly, efficient & attentive.
The ambiance of the resturant bar area is very chilled and got a nice atmosphere.
Thank you for making our visit with your wonderful food.
We will be back for sure.
We highly reccommend the steak if you are in the area!

Absolutely great restaurant! Happily sat at the bar and had a cocktail until our table was ready. Even though it was stated our dinner could take a little longer than normal we were served within such a quick time. Lovely staff and great food. Simmone - our waitress was lovely, thank you. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I recently wined and dined the night away at Sophie’s and honestly, we had an absolute blast. We’ve had few chances this year to just get out and have the evening together and I’m really glad we chose Sophie’s. On arrival the staff were really friendly, we grabbed a couple of cocktails at the bar, which is a seriously cool place. This whole place used to be cinema, there’s various film posters dotted around and the architecture all really adds to the ambiance. Anyway! When we made our way to our table we entered the restaurant / steakhouse area, they have the most incredible fire-pit with all the various meat cuts and other bits and pieces sizzling away. It was a mouthwatering sight!
Shared the padron peppers, chicken wings and the piece-de-resistance the Salt Beef Croquettes! I could eat these like pop corn!
We shared the Porterhouse, fries, creamed spinach (topped with little crispy onion bits, soo good) and the side salad. All absolutely delicious! Genuinely, the steak was probably, if not, the best we’ve ever had.
Despite being pretty stuffed we made room for a bit of pudding and shared the brownie. Stuffed!
Throughout the waiter was really helpful and attentive, topping up wine etc and just very pleasant without being too ‘busy’.
After we finished we then went downstairs to the basement area where there’s a very suave secret speakeasy!
Would highly recommend! I know we’ll be booking again soon, when eating in restaurants is allowed again. Definitely ideal for a special occasion.

I came here with my girlfriend for a casual Wednesday evening meal. I had the ribeye steak (medium rare) with béarnaise sauce and a side of chips and salad. My girlfriend had the steak sandwich with a side of chips. Both meals looked and tasted amazing. Great selection of beers on draught, cocktails and wines so something for everyone here. The atmosphere has the hustle and bustle of the waiting staff while maintaining a relaxed social feel.
Would highly recommend for casual food / drinks at least but can see this place being really good for occasions too.

we had a truly great meal, we were a little early so had a drink at the bar first. Once seated our waiter could not have been more attentive. He was the right balance of friendly and efficient but not overbearing. The food was the best I have had in a long time, the rib-eye steak was so tender it just melted in the mouth. If we lived closer we would eat there all the time! The only reason I have not given 5 stars is because we were not offered the pre-theatre offer menu, although we probably would not have ordered from it I feel we should have been given the choice.

Very rarely write reviews these days as very rarely do I receive both outstanding food along side outstanding service. I think after the last year or so we are more careful how we spend our money. If you are looking for a decadent , high quality food (and cocktails) in the west end (we were going to the theatre) this is the place to go. They have a really good pre theatre menu which is way better and cheaper than others on a similar level. They also do half price martinis (around 8 or 9 to chose from on a weds) we were served by mainly Gabor who is the restaurant manager and does a fabulous job of making sure the customer is looked after by himself and his staff. The food was faultless , as were the cocktails. Can’t wait to tell all my friends about the new gem in the west end we have found.

Great starters and steak and chips on the pre theatre menu, worth booking as they place you with a superb view of grill over the open fire in the kitchen. Good vibe, decent room between tables and attentive service. We'll be back to enjoy spending more time and sampling a more classy steak, cooked to perfection - melt in the mouth...
